Why do Blackpool fans dislike their owner so much then? That's quite a lot of money for League 1 standard at least they're showing some ambition to get out of this league.

Because they're a bunch of slapped asses who can't handle falling back to their natural level. Ideas above their station etc..

Life SF said, they've merely floated back to their natural level.. At the same time forgetting it was the same owner who got them to the Premier League in the first place.

Credit where credits due though, they bloody know how to protest

Couldn't see anything on the transfer centre or BBC, but just seen something on Twitter. Firthy's rant should be funny.

No big loss, will spend his 'stupid' wages on better players, injury prone, over-rated etc.. The usual drivel.

No question he is a big loss, but as bantamigo says he ultimately didn't play enough for us to really push the boat out to get him to re-sign.

Apparently we offered a part appearance-based wage, he wasn't keen, there was a bit of back and forth and in the end Ross County have offered a more secure deal and their club captaincy.

For me, that suggests no-one in England was prepared to take the risk (on decent wages at least) given his injury record, once it presumably became clear to him he might have to leave. Good luck to him though, no doubt that when he played we generally looked more secure at the back.

I can only think we already have someone in mind to replace him.

I'd definitely take him. Be a decent enough replacement for Popey. All we'd need a striker with pace to compliment him.

Stead would be a good signing for most teams in this league - many of us are surprised we didn't sign him permanently following his efforts for us last season. Wages supposedly the stumbling block.

I haven't got a clue where this rumour has come from anyway, but surely we couldn't compete with you in regards to wages?

Someone on our message board suggests there's a photo somewhere on twitter of him at Vale Park.

No idea what Stead was on at Huddersfield, but would clearly need to take a decent-sized wage drop at most L1 clubs.

No idea what we offered him, but given I saw somewhere that Pope was your highest earner at £4k per week (no idea if true, you tell me) then perhaps a fair chunk of that could be used to get Stead?

I haven't seen any images on Twitter, and they usually get thrown around rather quickly. Unless somebody is confusing him for Sam Foley, who we signed from Yeovil Town recently? How you can't recognise Jon Stead given his height and obvious features is anyones guess. I think Pope was on £3-4,000-a-week with added bonuses and clauses. Our glorious Chairman wasn't prepared to continue with that same wage packet, and rightly so, so unless it really was him believing Pope wasn't worthy of that amount (as opposed to any player), then I'd doubt we'd be offering that amount to anybody. It'd certainly be a decent capture for us. This is the beauty of the summer break though. Pre-Season starts tomorrow. The rumour mill will be in overdrive.

We've signed someone called Gary MacKenzie.

He's shit and lazy. Gets beaten by anyone who can move one leg past the other into something called running and is more interested in sleeping with prostitutes five mintutes after two other team mates have had a go. Rumour. Not factual.

Why do Blackpool fans dislike their owner so much then? That's quite a lot of money for League 1 standard at least they're showing some ambition to get out of this league.

Have you even been alive for the past four or five years? Before hand I could understand the not knowing the fragile relationship.

Rivalry post.

Linked with Josh Wright from Leyton Orient.

All I know about him is he once scored a worldie for Scunthorpe against Manchester United and his brother is that knob from TOWIE.
Was very average for us last season, he was one of the few who did actually give a shit though about the club and its situation. Similar player to Jamie Ness, makes the a few good passes in a game, as well as a few stinkers.

I like the actually giving a shit about the club part. But what I don't like is the similar to Jamie Ness (only good for six weeks, utter fraud in my eyes and people thought he was class) and the very average part. Hoping he's a backup if we don't sign David Fox but knowing us we'll cock up signing Fox!

We're signing someone tomorrow morning, who is a full international, but doesn't play for Wales.

That's all we know, aye got a clue. Could be Febian Brandy to Ronaldinho. A name just mentioned was Dean Furman... ??

Looks like we are trying to spread our budget out a bit more this year.

Google it. I'm not going through every single bit of what he's done wrong.

And yes, he is on comparison to SISU, in a different way but same levels. Did you get any games abandoned because you were disgusted with SISU? No you didn't.

Who did then? All credit goes to Ian Holloway and Charlie Adam I imagine

No, Valeri Belekon bought and invested in the playing squad. Karl Oyston didn't do a thing.

If you're not paying him a wodge and you're not looking like you could threaten the play-offs/promotion spots I don't really get why he'd go to Vale, simply because he's good enough to go to a side who could offer him both those things. It would be a bit of a coup if he went there.

We've signed former Orient right back Jason Demetriou, not sure on the length of the deal (presumably 2 years)..

I'm right in thinking that's a good signing aren't I? Remember him being highly rated in his Orient days and it being a shock when he left for Cyprus.

No because that is stupid the only people who suffer is your team. It seems to me that Blackpool fans cannot accept that you overachieved to get into the Premier League in the first place. If anything you should be happy that he guided your club to them good few years playing against the best teams and playing at Wembley. Maybe you should look at the players and the managers you have had instead who went down with a wimper last year. I understand he is the not the most likeable person in the world but at the end of the day if you're just blaming soley 1 person for your demise it's a bit stupid.

Karl Oyston is not comparable to SISU in anyway. SISU are far worse

That's why I don't think there's anything in that rumour at all. Too many of the criteria required go against us.

I suspect Smith may be going for a 3-5-2 next season with the promise of a 'more attacking style at home' than the one we have seen for a few years. I'd much rather us be average and hugely entertaining, than extremely boring and average. However, we don't have the correct forward players for 3-5-2. So it may be more like a diamond at home and another 4-5-1 away.

That's the right back slot fitted.

Goalkeeper - Ian McLaughlin/Owain Fon Williams
Central Midfielder - Michael Cain? Youth Prem loan?
Striker/Forward - Jordy Hiwula/Miles Storey?

Then what? A hard hitting commanding centre back and I'd say we are virtually done.

Keeper

Demetriou
Downing/New Centre Back
O'Connor
Henry/Taylor

Morris/Murphy
Mantom
Chambers/New Central midfielder
Forde/Baxendale

Sawyers/Cook
Bradshaw

Nice to say we only need 3-4 players for once, rather than an absolute ship load. It will certainly help with some continuity.

The one too look out for next season (Aside from Bradshaw) is Mantom, he basically missed the entire of last season and when he did return and gained a little fitness, it coincided with our positive end to the season. Morris and Henry have huge talents, Henry is only 17 and he looked superb when he came on the scene last season, I'm really, really excited by him. He has the best chance of a defender being sold off since Dann/Fox imo.
