When I saw he had been released, I assumed that there would be a lot of League One clubs interested. I think we will be in for 2 or 3 strikers this summer so wouldn’t be surprised if we’re one.

I think if you look at his career a very big amount of it has been spent around the midlands so you’d think Derby would work if they were interested. Guess Lincoln would at least enquire too as he had a good loan spell there if I remember rightly. Basically am sure he’s a player we’d like but we seemingly just refuse to get into bidding wars over anyone. Admirable in one sense but sometimes to improve you do need to have a bit of ambition.

Throw the wages of Wilson and proctor together to get him! That said isn’t he massively injury prone which is what we don’t want?

Derby apparently in the driving seat for Alfie May.

We need options upfront and he’s definitely proven himself at this level. McGoldrick still hasn’t signed, not sure if what the hold up is, unless he’s looking to go to Notts County to finish his career, either way Alfie May ticks a lot of boxes.

I believe he would be the first player we have spent money on since we signed Bielik for £8m four years ago which does bring a lot of pressure in itself, although it really shouldn’t.

Pretty much every L1 Club will be in for Walker, and the likes of Wrexham, Stockport etc will also try and speak to him I suspect.

I'd have him back here, although if we're going to continue with one up front then I'm not sure he'd suit us. If he was going to be in a two House then it's a no brainer. Think he's scored less goals since he left us 3.5 years ago than the half a season he was with us!

I honestly don't care how he gets on, just show us the money - and quickly so we can get it invested.

Rumours circulating that Stoke City wan't Bishop and have had a £1.5m bid turned down. I think it's inevitable he will leave by the end of the window but the extra funds should allow us to sign a better pool of players to strengthen overall.

Reports saying we're keen to sign Lewis Wing on a free from Wycombe. We were linked to him in his Boro days too.

Suggestions that he'd be a replacement for Daniel Johnson, but he plays deep doesn't he? similar style to Ben Whiteman?

We had him on loan for the first half of the 21/22 season and he struggled but I'm putting that on Moore playing him too deep

PNE doing their usual league one shopping
We actually didn't sign anyone from League One or Two last season.

I wouldn't be unhappy with Wing, got plenty of Championship experience.

Nothing wrong with it at all, some bargains to be picked up. PNE do seem to be linked with the better L1 players more than most teams though.
Wing is very decent, scored against us at Wycombe - shame you didnt sign Mehmeti instead of the shit

I didn't take the post as a jibe, young players in L1 should be our main market.

But we have no plan, I'd put money on us being relegated this season.

Based on my limited knowledge on the Championship am surprised at that. PNE have seemed for a while a solid mid-ranking club at that level. Granted if you look at the league as a whole next season it looks an absolute bitch to compete in top to bottom. Certainly something we are a billion miles from at least (and would probably bankrupt ourselves trying to bridge the gap).

Trust me, we won't be in for him. He was truly awful for us on loan back in 2022. Not at all surprised that Coventry have released him as he seems to have very much gone backwards after a promising start to his career.

You seem to have consistent respectable league finishes in the Championship though, with the lowest being 14th since you returned there

I think you need to update your favourites to the Championship forum
But if he does that he’ll just be talking to himself, and the couple of Ipswich fans / Preston fan. :tw:

Sounds like we’ve shown you the colour of ours.

No idea what it is, but knowing us I’m sure it’ll be laughed out.

Just a grave yard in general.

The only hope we have is if we wants to move back closer to home. Other than that we haven’t a prayer.

:bg: It must have been bad to gift us 6 points and only score 1 against us.
I dont know what it is with Charlton. every season I think you have a good squad on paper but are never challenging. Probably the biggest underachievers in the league alongside Portsmouth

That was probably true a few years' back for us. We've finished not too far off where we should the last few years, budget-wise. Let's just say we've not exactly over-performed in that time.

We may have a chance of top six this year, what with Ipswich and Wednesday gone. Could do without our usual two-month mid-season hibernation period where we struggle to register a win.

Everything is very short term at PNE, we're only a bad crop of loan players away from a struggle, especially if we lose both Johnson & Whiteman this season.
