Archie Collins signs for Peterborough then.

Great signing that.

That’s what pisses me off about our chairman. Moaning about FFP, telling the fans they need to buy more season tickets etc etc. if he made signings like this who can then be sold on for profit in the next few years instead of the fucking 30+ year old journey men on big contracts and no resale value it’d make his life a lot easier! Shame the blokes an ignorant tosspot and can’t be told.

For a ‘big’ 6 figure fee according to MacAntony. Good move for him and sounds like we’ve been weighed in, so win win all round, considering we knew he was going.

Rovers fans, looks like whilst you get one of our centre backs from last season, we get one of yours this season.

It would appear Lewis Gibson was at HP this morning, what’s he like?
He’s very good, but very injury prone. Shame as I believe we were giving it a good go to get him back

I’ve genuinely not seen one bad review of him on social media. All very pissed off Carlisle fans if anything. I respect your opinion though, there’s some players I don’t rate yet other supporters love them. I’ll reserve full judgement until I’ve seen him play myself but right now I’m more than thrilled with our business in the last 24 hours. We certainly should be pushing top half again.
Carver is wrong, Feeney is not an average league 2 defender. He’s definitely League 1 quality and should be comfortable in this league. Committed, aggressive, good in the air, senses danger, a proper defender.

The bit carver does have a point about is the injury situation. I wouldn’t go as far as calling him a crock, but every season of his professional career so far has seen him miss around 3-6 months. Last season it was in total only around 3 months so that side is getting better. But when we first signed him we didn’t see him at all in his first season, injured in his first training session. That is the only downside to him. If it wasn’t for his injuries you wouldn’t have him and we wouldn’t have had him. When he’s on the pitch you'll see he’s very good

We don't need him as we got promoted without him in the end and if we get Barclay who's better than Feeney then we should finish above Shrewsbury.

Barclay is a completely different player to Feeney. Feeney is a naturally better defender, Barclay is more athletic and better on the ball.

Barclay was only in the team because Feeney was injured. Ridiculous to say Barclay is better. Plus we may not even get him.

Surprised. Tries hard, can put in a decent cross, but not blessed with pace.
Maybe he was starting to go stale at Exeter though so might relish a challenge
Bit of a weird one this. Not offered a new contract by Exeter. Seems like a bit of a punt by our recruitment team.

I don’t mean to sound arrogant, but I don’t think we’ll finish below Carlisle. I have you down as a team that’ll finish between 24th and 18th as it stands.

Honestly put in one of the best performances I saw last season, was excellent in both games against us in fairness. I was surprised that he wasn’t rated higher.

Also linked to Chanka Zimba who I think is pretty shit looking at his record so far…Cobblers fans??!
He wasn't very good when we had him, but he was very young. His best attribute seemed to be having a good sense of where to be to pick up second balls, so maybe you could turn him into a poacher, but wasn't particularly quick or particularly strong, or particularly clinical. Was a few years ago, so he could have developed since that point.

Yeah, it’s an odd one. Sparkes is a good technical player and has a lovely left foot, so in possession he’s decent. He struggles pace wise and can get caught out from time to time.

I fully expected him to go to L2 where he’d flourish but fair play for moving to Pompey. Hope he does well for you.

You guys are losing a fair few players at the moment, anything rumoured about Nombe?

Look like Jayson Leutwiler set to be confirmed as our backup keeper. Like I said all being well he’ll rarely if ever have to see the pitch outside of the Pizza Trophy so spending more on Ripley with a cheap backup is the right way to go I feel.

Yeah looks a decent enough option for back up, plenty of experience, barring injury or suspension unlikely to be used in the league.

We are yea, it’s a big rebuild this summer. As for Nombe, the only way he goes is if we get a crazy good bid which we can’t turn down. I expect he’ll see out the whole season and then move for nowt in the summer.

I would have liked to see Nombe here but we probably wont be able to match what you would accept unless Collins is sold

Mitch Clarke is training today with the Vale squad so either a favour as an ex loanee or as rumoured from his tweet that was then deleted he may be signing... assume would be caveats regarding the FA charge.

Was decent in League Two for us and older now and did well at Stanley by all accounts but its just that FA Charge that worries me as we cant afford to lose a player potentially for a long period.

Get good odds on him avoiding a ban I’d imagine. A fair few of the choices he makes suggest there is a high risk involved, his last loan spell he got done for drink driving as one example.

Sounds like a signing we would make with all that baggage

We’d be looking for over £1M plus add ons for Nombe.

Yeah no way we would pay that, even after selling Collins. Our record fee paid is still £370,000 for Andy Tilson in 1992! So long ago his son has played for you since!
