What’s a good deal as almost certainly Stoke when we signed him would have inserted a sell on percentage? I like Will but it’s more a case of buying potential than the finished article. Hopefully Lewis Cass can stay injury free this season and he would more than slot into there.
£200k is the talk and assume we’d have a sell on clause in there too for future sale.

If say Stoke have 20% then we’d still have probably 3k a week for next seasons wage budget for example which could be a big boost.

Assume the Salford lad was signed with this in mind.

As you say he’s got potential but not the finished article, made some big errors in games (Charlton away, Derby home, Bristol Rovers away, all be it was a foul in there but wasn’t strong enough) so very much a lot to learn.

If we signed him for virtually nothing and make £150k profit in 12 months plus potential for more down the line then it’s a good deal.

Forrester definitely has potential but I'd snap your hand off at 150-200k. We really need players who are at their potential at this moment in time. Good luck to him but he's had a very up and down season. The mistake against Charlton was schoolboy stuff. If Bolton are daft enough to pay that sort of money for a lad to sit on the bench then good luck to them.

We're absolutely fucked, no new players want to sign for us because we're so fucking tinpot aren't WE! I mean just look at our training facilities! Proper non league standard!!!

We must be one of the luckiest ever sides to get promoted to L1.
We had the 4th LOWEST budget in L2 last season.

Also the worst ever strip we've ever had for this season.

Can’t tell if you’re messing or really having a meltdown. Anyway, there are two months of the transfer window left. It’s not the time to panic. We have most of our squad in place, we need quality added to it, not quantity. Plenty of time left and the later in the window it gets, the lower players’ expectations become which brings clubs like us into play with not much money. Plus there’s the loan options which don’t often become available till August time after the PL clubs have done their tours etc. I’d rather we waited and got the required quality if/when it becomes available, than play all our cards now for the sake of it. Simmo knows what he’s doing.

Glad you lot are now slagging Forrester off......Was your player of the month twice last season
October and March

Santos makes the odd schoolboy error, but for me is the best defender in the league

Was from an Ipswich account, so may well have just been someone noticing he's not training on you and guessing possible destinations, they didn't hint at what sort of transfer. We wouldn't be able to offer anything over £2k a week I'd have thought.

£2k a week - really?! I find that insane. I know it’s not the highest level, but I have friends selling second hand cars for a living on more money that that.

He will become a really good and versatile defender but at the moment he’s got a fair bit to develop. No surprise at the age he’s at. I wouldn’t read too much into being player of the month for us in March. Post January anybody winning that was like being the nicest guy in prison.

Are your friends 8 as well? If so it’s impressive that they are earning themselves 2k+ a week at that age. Fair play to them.

I’d say you’ve got some pretty rich friends then.

You’ve been blessed with premier lge so clearly have a different outlook but for us lower lge fans who have always seen us around this level it’s a pretty normal wage limit to expect.

Strange one, Forrester is right sided. No secret that we are after another RWB but Forrester is not that.
George Johnston plays on the left of a three, so again i would rule out us buying Forrester to replace Johnston

He played RCB and occasionally in the middle for us but when he was at Stoke he played on the left of the three coming up through their system so it's not beyond all credibility even if I personally would find it a little surprising.

It’s a done deal according to people who know.

Aren’t Wrexham after one of your centre halves?

Not slagging him off, I’d happily keep him as he has the potential to be a top defender at this level but isn’t there yet, he’s a young lad with plenty of errors to work out his game.

October the team did well and he was outstanding at Derby away, but he was part of a defence letting in three goals most games post January, if he’s signed to develop then he will do well, if signed to play 46 games in an automatic promotion campaign it maybe a couple of years too soon for that but will wish him well. If it makes us good money the system in the club is working well.

Maybe one for the future. Rumours about Johnston going to Wrexham. We have also got Iredale as back up on the left
Maybe one with potential

Could be a decent deal for both clubs......Play in Early cup games, Sub in the league games and steps in for injuries
Might get 10/20 games and the same off the bench

Wow, everyone thought he was going to the States.
We let him go because he was our best paid player. Where are you getting your funds from?
We have always cut our cloth. Selling players for good profits.
Terry Taylor possibly off to argyle - and that could be 300k-400k plus add ons.

Errr we only have two forwards one of which was totally out of favour at Fleetwood last season at this level. Plus we just have a kid as a right back, one goalie and not enough centre backs seen as we play with three and we could do with another midfielder.

We'll just end up with the usual shitty lightweight 19 year old loanees from Premier league/Championship u23 teams.

Come off it, we will probably make 2mn in this window and we still can't justify his wages

Yep develop him right and I’d say he has the potential to play Championship level down the line. Not the biggest of defenders but good with the ball and a strong tackler. Don’t get me wrong I’d rather have Will than not but if it’s a deal that works for both parties (and this is assuming it’s actually happening) then wish him well.

Then I don’t know. Ben must be putting his hand in his pocket. We did it before for kightly and Darren bent, both on 10k a week.
I doubt he will be on that much, but he was (allegedly) our best paid player without being our best one.
I don't know where we will end up in this transfer window but as it stands we are bottom four

Plenty of time for you to sign some marquee players - a month to go yet till the season starts. Lots of great unattached players available including billy sharp.

On Blackman I know when we tried to sign him last summer the reason he didn’t was he wanted a one year contract with a view to a big money move this summer. Maybe the demand just hasn’t been there for him as he expected. Burton putting a nice squad together though.

I think we would be more likely to sign Pat Sharp.

From what I hear ref Forrester, his family are all stoke fans, and they don’t particularly like that anti stoke stuff they get ( not just from fans!)
It’s a deep rooted hate, that goes right through the club
