We've signed young GK Zak Jeacock after his release from Birmingham, which means we now have 4 GK's on the books. he's going out on loan at the end of pre-season and by the sounds of it is being earmarked as our new number one in the next year or two so we'll still run with two during the season.

Sam Long will be the one who leaves either on loan to see his contract our or permanently, which is a shame because he's come through the youth system but the level has gone up as we've developed as a Club.

That was quick, Long has signed for Bromley. Good move for him to a L2 side.

Looks like we have accepted a bid for Antony Evans from Huddersfield. £450k being rumoured which is a piss poor amount to accept

1-0 Parkinson.

Clough openly admitted he wanted to blow their entire budget on Brunt but Parky saw this and pounced, we don't even want him really. It's all about making Clough go purple.

It is an odd one, and one for debate, but for some reason stockport and wrexham seem to think (or come across that way) that parkinson and challinor are somehow better than clough, when if anything clough would be the front runner given his CV. That he got us promoted with a 6th/7th budget and then consequently won manager of the season speaks volumes.

The argument could also be all 3 clubs are lucky to have promotion and decent managers.

Wilson has tremendous ability. You don't play 8 to 10 games for Manchester United if you haven't got ability. He was absolutely unplayable in our play off semi finals and final. There's two major issues with him:

1) He'll almost certainly have minimum one or two long term injuries each season. He has a really languid style and so gets caught but it also means he picks up injuries as he doesn't always fully commit to the physical side.

2) His cycle of injuries meant that he just didn't have the same spark in league one as league two. He seemed to struggle with a slightly better quality defender. Still had his moments (Plymouth away) but his seasons are always so stop/start that it takes him 5 games to get back up to speed.

If he's back up, then that's fine, but I wouldn’t rely on him to play, or make a huge difference at that level. He seems like a really nice lad and for his efforts in league 2, he will always be remembered. Amazed that he's got another gig in league 1. I expected bottom end league 2/non-league, so fair play to his agent!

He actually played 19 times for Utd.

Suprise this evening that we've sold Max Sanders to Crewe.

Leaves us looking for another central midfielder.

Not sure why he was sold, he was in the last year of his contract and we've made a small profit from selling him, maybe its to fund another player coming in or maybe its because he was a bit injury prone.

Tidy player, had some good games for us, but did spend a bit too much time injured when we needed him.

I haven’t come across that from either of those two fanbases to be honest, for what it’s worth I rate Challinor, the fans gave up on him last season and wanted him sacked and he ended up delivering the title, deserves full credit. Parkinson is effective, but the style of play should be so much better considering the resources available to him.

In all likelihood Challinor will be poached by another club, Parkinson will be sacked for underachieving and Clough will retire once he’s done here. Let’s see how close I am down the line!

Some fans did but also a lot didn’t.

I never wanted him gone.

I rate challinor over parkinson certainly, he did brilliantly at hartlepool previously.

I don't really get the criticism of our style of play. aWhen we perform we play some decent stuff.

Challinor has done well everywhere he's been and he's proved his early non league successes weren't a fluke by now. Clough and Parky are pretty similar levels imo. Both have long CVs with plenty of successes. Both have failed at clubs but that's true of most managers with careers as long as theirs. I'm sure fans of all three clubs are happy with their own manager and wouldn't swap with anyone else.

Maybe I'm grossly underestimating the market given where we're shopping, but I think anything over 250k is grossly overpaying, so the numbers being banded about, even if a third of it is dependent on him getting to the moon, seem bonkers to me.

He's fine, he's a decent finisher and he's reasonably good in the air, doesn't really contribute much from an assist/passing standpoint from what I remember so he'll need good service to succeed. Can't help but feel his ceiling is middle-third L1 though, he's only a season-removed from not doing it at Ipswich in this league, and as SVH says he has a pretty poor injury record. I'd have had him back for sure at the right price but we're obviously in a different market to Charlton.

Fair summary, even if I think there's a higher ceiling there (if he can stay fit).

Does seem to be £650K over all which still feels steep, but big dicks gotta swing. They were probably on the phone after he played against them, in fairness.

Berry and Ahadme lining up together next season, always liked Charlton...

Above all, SVH in absolute shambles, sure you're not TC9 on twitter

It'd be some real mismanagement if Birmingham and Huddersfield don't get top 2. Spending better than they did in the Championship.

Neil Warnock to Darren Moore and John Eustace to Wayne Rooney shows we are both very capable of that level of mismanagement, hopefully lessons learnt.
Does appear we are signing well though and plenty of money left from that Rudoni sale still.

I think the front 2 you signed in January might do very well at this level, although you're clearly in the market for a main man up top, considering you were willing to spend on May.

No idea how you got around £5m for Rudoni.

Healey I’d be very confident can score at this level just injury concerns with him.
Think it was something like 3 million upfront for Rudoni and then add ons up to 5/6, paying for potential with him.
Still got Sorba Thomas who doesn’t really suit Duffs system as another potential decent sale, plenty of assists at championship level so happy to keep him if no one is interested.

Parky is miles ahead of Clough, promotions with 4 different teams. Last season was the first promotion Clough can properly call his own in his entire career.

Challinor is similar to Parky, if we're counting Colwyn Bay and FLYDE as though they aren't pub sides that is.

As you say, all clubs are happy with their manager and that's it, been done to death this.

Lloyd Jones and Mannion potentially in there too.

Feels like a gamble and we don't often spend big on fees. Godden, Ahadme, Leaburn and Aneke on paper is the making of a pretty good selection of forwards.

Yeah, I'd happily take Sorba Thomas here to rotate with Potts down the right. Providing we bring in someone more pacey and direct down the left. I saw £750k mentioned for Thomas.

Clough keeping Burton up in the Championship is beyond anything Parkinson will get close to.

I do have a fair few things I criticise about Clough but his biggest positive is how entertaining we are, loads of goals and a good style of play and even in the seasons that ended up disappointing I look back at fondly.

I’m not saying Wrexham style is absolutely awful either, but Stockport and Mansfield is much more appealing, but if your winning it doesn’t really matter most of the time, I just think you guys should get more value in terms of style considering how much money you throw about.

Big rumours that our little midfield gem, Liam Kelly, is off to the franchise.

One year left on his contract so in itself you can understand it but, if true, he will be the 8th player from the starting line up at Wembley to leave !

What's the lowest total in league 1 (div 3 )history?

You'd have to go some to be more wank than FGR were when they dropped to the basement.

Carlisle were pretty fucking appalling last season too, but FGR certainly take the crown for third-tier direness in recent years. Not sure what the lowest points total *ever* at this level was, though.

We're also rumoured to be interested in Jay Williams. Any use?

Was a liability at the start but ended up being a key player for us towards the end of last season. Disciplinary is his biggest issue, got the most yellows in the division last year with 17, 3 more than anyone else.

A solid defender that again, like most, excelled under Lindsey's management.

Mullin is out of Pre-season with previously planned surgery on his back. We may be in for a striker sooner rather than later and I think we have announced his surgery with a signing already agreed.

re-signed Callum Morton on loan for the season.
He's having a weird career isn't he after lots of promise during his loan spell with you.

Pretty much out for the season here on loan, and has since bobbed about from one club to the next.

You're signing someone just because you've lost someone for pre season?

It really is another world.
