Parky doing Cloughie dirty here, stealing his targets. Can see those two coming to blows next season.

Parky probably wants to replicate Cloughie style of play a bit because his time is limited at Wrexham with its current set up.

There’s no doubting that’s a blow, there’s no other way of saying it, but he’ll have backups and will know what he needs (maybe the scottish lad in defence).

Cloughs got a promotion of league 1 with burton, so i’m more than confident we’ll be just fine work him now.

1-0 Parkinson.

Clough openly admitted he wanted to blow their entire budget on Brunt but Parky saw this and pounced, we don't even want him really. It's all about making Clough go purple.

He's definitley going to see his arse about this, Cloughie. Miserable bastard but successful just like Challinor and Parkinson. The only time all three raise a smile is when they're taking the piss out of Female commentators, which all three hate, naturally.

We have made a signing!! A Striker none the less in James Wilson, formerly of Port Vale amongst others. Isnt the general consensus that hes really good but made of absolute glass?

Unfortunately made of glass is an understatement. Good technician and a clever player. Won’t score many himself though. Was at his best when he had a physical player like Proctor alongside him to take the load so if you have someone like that up top that would help. Wish him well though, better move than I thought he might get.

I’m very surprised at that. I thought he’d be off to non league.

Wish Willo well, as mentioned great technical ability well above the lower league level but his injuries have held him back, all be it we got 40 plus games from him in the promotion season but struggled the past two and prior to his arrival.

The other issue is he needs time to get up to speed so after an injury you often need 5-6 games for him to get going but if you can keep him fit and play him right he can be a real asset.

That winner at Exeter and then the goals against Swindon and at Wembley in the final will see him in Vale folklore and for that reason I hope he does very well for Northampton.

I am surprised he has a League One gig with his injuries etc, he was on a pay as you play/basic contract kind of deal with us of some sort I believe, there had been talk of Newport County so thought he would end up lower League Two and try and re-build but will be one to see how he does.

Is he a left footer? Parkinson loves a lefty at the back so imagine he'll be the left sided CB as he doesn't seem like a wingback.
He's holding the 'signing pen' in his left hand...not always, but can be a sign his trotter's follow suit...

Yeah, not knocked off my feet with the signing at all, though our insider insists he's been eyed up as a back up option rather than as a first choice striker. Maybe killed the interest we had in Omari Patrick I guess/hope - the idea should be to sign players from non-league to unearth a gem and not players that are on the way to it.

Edit: That said, we are a weird trick room for Stirkers, anyone coming in with any sort of record, Leon Constantine, Shaun Harrad, Danny Hylton etc will come in and score two goals in a full season max, and the people who are come in that are just puzzling like Vadaine Oliver, 7 in 64 and cut from Morecambe, and Akinfenwa who didn't look like he could jog up and down a pitch, come in and become cult heroes, so I'm ready to see what he does with a fresh start.

We also have release Monthe to join Oldham, because we didn't feel comfortable about having a full team of football players on the books at once.

Is that the same Wilson that was gonna be the next great United striker, but it never somehow happened for him?

Yeah apparently in as back up. But very underwhelming.

We’ve signed Ryan Woods on a two year deal. Huge signing for us and massively impressed with our business so far.

It's a shame we are such a team of cloggers.
Can't be a proper Dad's Army without someone playing the Pike role

*Two* teams playing Cloughball? No keeper will survive the season

Wilson has tremendous ability. You don't play 8 to 10 games for Manchester United if you haven't got ability. He was absolutely unplayable in our play off semi finals and final. There's two major issues with him:

1) He'll almost certainly have minimum one or two long term injuries each season. He has a really languid style and so gets caught but it also means he picks up injuries as he doesn't always fully commit to the physical side.

2) His cycle of injuries meant that he just didn't have the same spark in league one as league two. He seemed to struggle with a slightly better quality defender. Still had his moments (Plymouth away) but his seasons are always so stop/start that it takes him 5 games to get back up to speed.

If he's back up, then that's fine, but I wouldn’t rely on him to play, or make a huge difference at that level. He seems like a really nice lad and for his efforts in league 2, he will always be remembered. Amazed that he's got another gig in league 1. I expected bottom end league 2/non-league, so fair play to his agent!

You can’t have 2 cloughs winning manager of the season, that would be too much to ask!

I'm also surprised but we've been told it was Jones' call and there was no pressure to sell. I'm assuming he feels he can potentially bring in a couple of players with the proceeds to bolster the team.

When Jones came in last season he dropped and subbed May a fair bit so wasn't overly keen on him. He's not really a Jones style player but most managers would try and make an exception for the golden boot winner!

Lewis Brunt signed

ITKs still reckon the Bradshaw deal is on too.
Heard a few weeks back the Bradshaw to Wrexham rumour. Coupke of other league 1 teams were also interested. Would be a good signing for most teams at this level. Scored goals as a youngster for Shrewsbury before an alleged error with the contract offer meant he left on a free with no compensation to Walsall.

We’ve had 2 seasons of relentless injuries (the patched up squad that got promoted to this league beggared belief) so it’s that that is the concern. Twice is unlucky, a third season in a row for it to happen would be negligence from Brady and will probably cost us.

I'm afraid you just can't rely on him to stay fit for sustained periods. He's just not built for full time football. Watch him play 40+ games now!

Just got to move on and I hope we go for another promising young CB. What we’ve got to remember is Brunt was signed as an unknown and nobody knew that he was that good until he got a run of games so no reason why we cannot do it again, hopefully permanently.

The last bit of business is going to be really important from Stags, 2/3 players that hopefully will improve our starting eleven.

A signing of such.
John brayford has retired and we are returning him as a couch. ( not the driver ).
Was a great player for us but in reality his legs had gone.
Over 1100 turned up tonight for our fan event ( most of them are our new players ) and brayford was announced by the new manager.

Looks like Evans is on Birmingham's radar and Huddersfield most likely have moved on having signed Kane. Think we're resigned that he'll be gone so this could be a good thing. They didn't mess about with signing May and with money to spend I have a feeling we'll get market value and maybe a bit more. Means it gives us plenty of time to strengthen the squad with a bit of money. Desperately need a Striker!

We are still short in midfield even with the Kane signing but can forget about Evans if Birmingham are in for him.
