We’ve signed Korey Smith from Derby.

20+ starts for them last season and good experience with him alongside Gary Gardner.

I’m really liking our business so far this summer.

Midfield is definitely looking so much stronger for us this coming season.

We are building a lovely balence of talented younger players and slightly older experienced pros with top quality pedigree. Things looking good especially if we can sign ‘that’ striker we all think is coming.

Have you got many youngsters? From the outside, seems you are signing just experienced players 28+

Our average squad age last season was 25.9. So far we have moved out players who simply weren't good enough for league one and at times we lacked that experience to see out games we should have drawn/won. Most have moved to league two or lower. The only players who have got bigger moves were Ahadme and Mannion.

Watts CB - 24 years old from Newcastle on loan at Wigan last season.
Reyes GK - 20 years old on loan from Norwich. Got excellent reviews on loan at FGR despite their relegation.
Gibbons RB/LB - 26 years old was on loan to us from Jan onwards and done well as back up.
Lavery ST - 25 years old from Blackpool who if stays fit will be a very good addition.
Loft ST - 26 years old who can't play football to save his life (according to Port Vale fans)
Richard AMC - 23 years old on loan from QPR. Brighton paid Man City £2.5m for him a few years ago but lost his way. Could be great, could be shit.
Gardner CM - 31 years old never played below the championship. I think he will be a top addition.
Smith CM - 33 years old from Derby with all their fans shocked they didn't offer him a new deal.

The other rumoured striker set to join us is Britt Assombalonga (31 years old).

Stockport County.
Louie Barry linked with Birmingham.

Would break our hearts up here to be honest. A proper footballer. Needs to get out of the shadows of the Midlands and continue to become a proper player in the football hotbed of the country.

You say you've moved out players that wern't good enough for the Third division. But you signed Gibbons who probably is a good 4th division player but was extremely limited in the Third. And with regards to Ryan Loft -- Yes Port Vale fans have got it spot on. Who really has was dreadful for us. He is possibly Conference North standard.

I like Gibbons and don’t mind him as a back up as he can play left of right. Solid enough squad player but I wouldn’t want him starting every week. I remember you told us George Williams was shite but he was my POTY in that first season.

Loft I have no clue so I can’t really comment on that one for now.

We do have a knack of sorting out strikers who come to us with dodgy reviews. Ironside, Mullin, Smith, Ahadme…

Apparently we will be signing the keeper we've had on trial Luca Ashby-Hammond - His brother plays in goal for Stevenage.

I think the difference with Birmingham to someone like Sunderland or Leeds when they were down here is that there is a feel good atmosphere at Brum due to the new owners that you wouldn't normally expect to see at a bigger club that have slipped to a level they wouldn't expect to be at. We'd see it all the time in non league where the bigger clubs who had sorted out the issue in their ownership (which 90% of the time was the entire reason they were down there) sorted themselves out quite quickly, whereas those who didn't wallowed.

That said the manager is the big unknown with Birmingham and I do agree that if they start losing to teams their fans think they are bigger than (Crawley, Us etc) things could get ugly.

I am a somewhat realistic blues fan, after 10 + years of watching dross its nice to be heading into a season where we will likely win more times than we lose.

IMO we were relegated due to the length of time it took to get rid of Rooney and then when TM was sick Venus was not the answer, under capable managers last season we got the results to show that we do not go down. But here we are, we do expect promotion thats not being big headed, we have the financial power to make us as strong as required, we head into this season looking to build a championship squad in league one.

its not going to be easy, we expect teams to raise their game against us, low block etc which we nay find hard to break down, but even today with no further additions we have the best first XI, we lack depth and that is what we are hoping to be addressed ideally before the Reading game.

It would not be blues though if we didn't mess things up from time to time so feet firmly on Terra firma

No way we paid that much! He has been pictured on X at our ground being interviewed though
I'm not so sure. With Barnsley in the running I would imagine we have had to up our game. He was staying in the Marriot last night.

i know he was in the last year of his contract but its strange selling Evans for less than we supposedly paid for this guy. Evans is a much better player

I wonder how much they offered? Knowing Barnsley they would try and get him on the cheap from lowly , just out of League Two Mansfield Town.

Yeah an issue we have is only one year left on his contract I don’t think we have an option, so it’s either sell or tie down. I’ll guess the latter but everyone has a price.

I liken this guy to when we first signed Jason Roberts -- Much was said the same.

Thing is this season coming you've got Birmingham as the stand out team ( on paper anyway ) and I believe the rest of us are going to have to up our game just to stay in the division. And if that means shelling out bigger transfer fees then so be it.

I'd have preferred Brendan Wiredu although Omochere is probably more the type of player we need attack-wise.

Our chairman has said similar. He has said he has upped the budget this season (could just be to appease the fans) and this was due to the fact that teams with huge budgets have come up and down this season. Imagine the average salary will be at an all time high this season.

Crawley have signed a keeper! Jojo Wollacott .

Got him from Hibs but previously with Charlton and Swindon.

He said last season didn't work out for him due to injuries . We can but hope.

Casey

I see devilofajob got here first! Always hated him;)
