Have you got many youngsters? From the outside, seems you are signing just experienced players 28+

Feel like this got a bit missed in a way, Jobe was a youth prospect who broke through last year and was set to be first choice centre back but is now broken. Nasciamentio and Hoddle were expected to be more involved and Liam Bennett is still fairly young and one who broke through with us last year.

Annoyingly we've lost at least two of our promising products in the 'pipeline', Kai Yearn feels grating when he's been picked up by Coventry.

So essentially there's more youth in the squad than there is experience in the team, I suppose but if you compare it to the last few years it does feel like it's trending in a slightly more positive direction. You can only go so far at this level as a club like us without having to develop and sell on, and we'd ended up with a bunch of old blokes, crocked blokes, or people on short term contracts that netted us nowt (e.g. Smith/Knibbs), or old crocked blokes.

As Ibsen Rossi (who I presume is young but could be 29, who knows) has been given a decent length deal and could be a decent player if fit for a bit, makes me think we're trying to veer away from that situation as much as possible.

Harry Kite appearing as A Trialist for Rotherham tonight, hoping to be their 75th signing
Amazed he’s getting interest from a L1 club with Championship aspirations. Still expect him to end up at a Swindon or Cheltenham.

Birmingham today had a 4m Euro bid turned down..........Welcome Wrexham to the big boys league

to be fair it's only Birmingham spending like this. Online guesses have their spending as not far off 8 figures.

Think the owners will Demand promotion with that kind of outlay. I can see them imploding if they do not get off to a great start. May is a good signing at this level and may even get 25/30 goals. The new manager is also unproved and it may come as a eye opening to the shithouse lge1 teams play.
Rotherham on a Tuesday night in January will be a eye-opener to some of these players

Thankfully the rumour linking him to us was just that a rumour

He did ok last night to be fair, didn't look out of place and scored a couple. I hope for Rotherham's sake that they don't expect to start the season with the front pairing from last night though (Hugill and Osong) as they missed a hatful - quite simple chances as well.

I liked Hoddle last season at St Albans, thought he looked a classy player albeit at NLS. Is he likely to be back with your first team this season or out on loan again? I guess it's probably a situation where you'll look at him pre-season and then make a call I suppose.

I was doing a scout report as a favour for someone I know who happens to be Harborough Town's manager - they play Stamford opening day.

Plus Stamford is only about 25 minutes from my house and it was a better option than spending the evening trying to wrangle my toddler into going to sleep.

JCH is training but not being risked until next week.
Sam Nombe will partner a trialist or one of the youth team today at Spalding.

You've got to remember Hugill barely had a chance made for him last season so it's not surprising he's a bit rusty.

Osong I imagine will come on as a late sub, at least until he shows what he can do.

We do need to sign another forward, if we get a couple of injuries we will be struggling.

We have got Andre Green but he won't play until at least October, they are debating whether to include him in the squad to January.

According to O’Rourke, Birmingham have enquired about Fulham’s attacking midfielder, Luke Harris who we had on loan last season. However, Fulham want to loan him to the Championship apparently.

It’s gutting for us either way as Caldwell has made no secret that he wants him back on loan next season, but that looks highly unlikely.

He’s a real talent but can’t help thinking regular games in L1 would be better for his development vs maybe being used as a squad player in the Championship.

Is Palmer still up to L1?

Ollie Palmer has never in his entire career been ‘up to L1’ standard. Always been a conference donkey with L2 physical attributes. Great bloke but never a third tier footballer in a million years.

Fair comment. We've been looking for a replacement/upgrade to him for a year now but we still do seem to perform better with him up front still.

Tyler Walker, having missed the end of August and made his return on the final day of the season, is now out for at least three months having injured his ankle two or three days into our Spain pre-season tour.

I think we needed another striker anyway but this means we're gonna have to do something up there.

The way he finished for us I would suggest he is capable of getting into a lower half championship side. Look at Stanno.

GK George Wickens signs from Fulham on a four-year deal. He'll be our number one.

He's not had much luck with injuries. As you say, doesn't change anything as would always need someone else as sadly cant be relied on.

We've just announced signing of George Wickens from Fulham. Keeper who was on loan at Ross County from January. Signed a 4 year deal.

Any idea who of the other 2 Keepers will be our number 2?

Reckon we still need a LWB and ST as a minimum before letting all the kids out on loan. Wonder how many loan spaces we'll use this season

Ollie Palmer has scored more League 1 goals than Paul Mullin. Though I think that’s like saying Heskey scored more Premier League goals than Messi.

Haven't really paid too much attention to fees, but some of these are bonkers. Fair to say there is a two tier division next season

I'm not sure I believe all those. For a start I believe my club Bristol Rovers are one of the poorer clubs.

We paid £60k for Street so it's incorrect on that one.

Pardington will be number two and Jeacock going out on loan.

Yeah, still a bit of work to do and I think we'll end up loaning out four or five as we get closer to the end of the window. Just a bit up in the air at the minute with people like Duffy (betting charge), Montsma (returning from a long term injury) and Hackett, Hamilton, Walker, Hamer, Jefferies etc all injured or on their way back from injury as well.

But it was definitely established that you paid 500k for Omochere, right?

Hoddle made two first team appearances towards the end of last season and Monk thinks highly of him.

Monk certainly believes in youth more than Bonner ever did but with the signings of Gary Gardner and Korey Smith in the middle of the park I suspect Hoddle may head out on a league two loan.

That Ahadme fee is closer to £600k with potential add ons taking it up to £1m, so take that site with a pinch of salt

We've signed Sean Clare from Wigan on a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee, on paper thats quite a coup for us as he's played for Charlton and Wigan at this level.

We got caught out last year with injuries and we appear to be doing everything we can to avoid a repeat - Clare can play in 3 positions if needed.

Be interesting to see what we do at left back now.

Still REALLY need a keeper though.

Maybe. And it would seem that the people at Fulham agree with you. Time will tell in that - Either way, looks like GC needs to look elsewhere for another attacking midfielder.
