Did Darragh actually say 3x specifically regarding Brunt and Wrexham? I listened to the podcast and did not hear that but may have missed it. I don’t think he mentioned Brunt at all to be honest. He did say fair play to Wrexham though.

It was £3k btw, more believable but still a bit pie in the sky imo. Why would we need to pay that much more?

If we offered 4 times what they were going to be paying, and the average wage on league one is 6k.... for the sake of arguement.... do you honestly think we are paying George Dobson over 20k a week?

Even if we are paying him 12k, which is more likely (but would still be a very large wage for this level) , that means they were offering him less than he was likely on at Charlton.

We do pay a lot but the figures people throw around about us are way off.

Like I said - got no issue with you lot being awful negotiators and spending more than you need to, you’ve got the money - but just like Gillingham fans the other year if you try and downplay your spending it just means your trying to hide the reality.

I think Brunt will be worth it btw, he is absolutely quality. Your best defender this season.

We aren't trying to downplay our spending-others inflate our spending. We know how much we spend it's shown by the financial returns.

We will have had the biggest budget last season. We won't this year, although in terms of wages it will be up there.

All I am saying is that if Leyton Orient are offering 25% of what we are, even if we are paying people astronomical amounts, they are offering less than the market.

Interestingly, was given a contract by Arsenal recently whereas Okonkwo was let go so must be well regarded at the club.

We aren't. But people make stuff up with zero evidence. Noone is disputing we offer high wages. But four times what Leyton Orient were offering someone? it's likely bollocks whatever Richie Wellens apparently said. And if it isnt it shows they aren't offering enough.

Interest is definitely picking up for the latter with Barnsley on a second, or maybe third bid rejected and a bid from at least one other side. It’s either sell or a new contract.
