There were other league one clubs in for him but I suppose we've won the race based on location and play time.

Yeah he’s still only a very young lad who struck me as perhaps slightly immature/naive for his age, so the proximity to his family near Ipswich is probably a huge bonus for him.

Stokes looked stellar in our cup games against Aldershot not long ago, shouldn't be out of place at this level.

He'll certainly get plenty of chances because we are creating lots but putting none away.

As I mentioned above, maybe we got him based on location with him being from Sudbury originally. 15 goals from midfield in the national league last season so clearly knows where the onion bag is.

On paper it looks a very good signing.
Stokes was really good against us in the cup games last year and had a great first half of the season but tailed off quite a bit once signed by Bristol City and loaned back, scoring just three goals in the NL after we hit January.

I agree with the poster above that I’d have thought L2 would have made more sense for him.

It could turn out to be a very good signing as he’s talented lad but I’d suggest as it stands it’s a punt at this level.

In his after match interview yesterday Crawley manager hinted we may be after another centre back.

Maybe Conroy's injury is worse than we've been told. Otherwise we have five on the books plus Williams and Malone who can play there.

Emmanuel Longelo signs on a season long loan from Brum, much needed defensive addition and would seem to be a quality addition. That’s two good uns through the door in 3 days but we really need that no 9 to finish off the squad. I’m guessing this one might be a permanent signing rather than a loan, so we will have to be patient and see who we get.

I thought Loft was your number 9 signing ? Or have they given up on him already.

We've had Marosi on trial for our u21s. Club legend for gifting Pratley a goal in the Playoffs when he was at Doncaster. Not one I'd be delighted with. We were looking for an experienced number one for Mannion to learn off but I'd rather have Manion number one than Marosi.
Depends what you're after from Marosi. Not many better shot stoppers at this level, but distribution isn't the best. We couldn't afford to keep him. Assume he's still not signed on with anyone due to wage demands. Thought he'd be picked up quite quickly

Sheffield's local paper has now linked us to Bailey Cadamarteri as well.
Seems that this one is a go'er, their end is suggesting we're looking to wrap up a season long loan move sooner rather than later.

Like the sound of this if it comes off. A good replacement for Yanic and experienced at this level.

Our squad depth will serve us well and ‘should’ see us to a safe position at the very least.

Haven't seen him yet, but it seemed more like a back up to chuck on and cause issues rather than the main man. Should be back in a few weeks.

The number 9 shirt has been kept vacant, and boy do we need it. Our striker options at the moment are Lavery, Loft and Njoku. Considering we're aiming to have a two of sorts up top, it's not ideal.

Njoku being a young lad who's done well enough when called upon, but is 100% not ready for first team League One football on a weekly basis, I'd imagine he'd be loaned to the Conference until new year in an ideal world. He was on loan at St Ives (7th Tier) until an injury crisis last season, if that gives you some idea.

Got told last night we’re in for Luke Bolton from Wrexham. Dale Taylor on loan is close aswell.

2 years left on his deal so there should be a decent fee involved. He's lightning quick but hasn't shown much else and is down the pecking order. Barnett is overall a better player than him and with Revan coming in and playing ahead of them both even out of position suggests he should move on.

How much you pay for him? If we sell Swan we should get 200k ish there if rumours of a Walsall bid that was rejected earlier in the window are true

Bolton was quality for Salford. Can't help but think Parky has mismanged him at this point if I'm honest. Maybe he doesn't do what Parkinson wants in a winger/wing back. I don't think he's a wing back who will get the ball out of his feet early and whip in a cross etc.

Over a year since Josh Key left to go to Swansea, the tribunal has finally set the fee (absolute joke waiting that long). Anyway, at last night’s fans’ forum we were told that we are very happy with the outcome, which is pleasing news. Should hear details soon, but seems like we’ve got a nice up front fee and decent add ons - Another success for our academy!

Rumour our end is we're signing Oliver Norwood. Been training with us and played a friendly with us as a Trialist but the word was he was waiting on Championship offers.

Played a fair few games in the Premier League last season (albeit in a piss poor Sheffield United side) but has been a very good Championship midfielder with the odd sprinkling of top flight experiences throughout his career. 33 now so it would be a case of "have his legs gone?". Still just a rumour at this stage.

No idea but think he only had 6 months left on his Salford deal so probably wasn't that much. Would be very wary of playing him as a standard right back, he's more of a winger than a right back.

I reckon we might shift 2 of Bolton, Forde and Mendy before the window is out.

I would be very happy with Bolton we need more pace in the team, not quite sure where we would play him mind, not really suited to back four.

I suppose we will probably play three at the back more this season due to the higher quality of opposition, and in those scenarios it makes sense. Tough competition for him if Hewitt gets back to full fitness.

If we are potentially getting over 200k for Swan plus a sell on it does start to make financial sense.

He is definitely good enough to score goals at this level, the only issue is getting a full season out of him due to a combo of injuries and confidence that seems to link in with that. It feels like he plays half a season and scores ten goals, just got to get him playing and scoring in the other half.

I cant believe some of our ex players still playing in this league; Loft, Marquis...Hoole. Expected them all to be L2 this season
The only issues Loft will cause is for the ballboys or crowd when the ball bounces off his shin every time he tries to control it

I definitely fancy Stockport for top 6 contention.

I was only talking to a couple of Sheffield United supporting colleagues about him last week and they were surprised he hadn't got something sorted yet. They were half expecting him to drop to a lower third Championship side. Apparently his legs have gone and he can't get around the pitch but his range of passing is still there and keeps things ticking over.
