We originally signed him from Dulwich Hamlet and he played over 100 times for us. All arms and legs and sheer running ability. He was really good for us. Spent two years at Plymouth where he again become a fans favourite before a move to Ipswich didn't work out due to injuries.

If we get the Plymouth and old Crawley player back I will be very happy.

Seems like we’ve paid at most upfront £150k with it potentially reaching £200k with add ons and that’s from Newport local rag. First six figure paid by Mansfield since Clough joined a good few years ago now.

Got some good options upfront with Evans, Will Swan, Lee Gregory and DKD in particular.

Interest is definitely picking up for the latter with Barnsley on a second, or maybe third bid rejected and a bid from at least one other side. It’s either sell or a new contract.

Some clubs have more money than others. At least we are spending money we do have. It's when you are spending money you don't have there is a problem.

We had years of having no cash, and fans of other clubs taking the piss because we were anchored in non league whilst they got promoted (on budgets two or three times what we were paying) so I'm going to enjoy this period for as long as it lasts.

Will Evans - good signing for Mansfield. I'm a fan. If they can keep hold of DKD that should be a good combination.

Not that long ago. We’ve had a number of undisclosed fees so could be one of Ed Francis (this summer), Millenic Alli (in January) or failing that we definitely paid a 6 figure fee for Sam Nombe in 2021.

That's the point though - we're fortunate now that we DO have the money to put in a higher wages offer. Another club will offer what they can sensibly afford, so they're not spending money they don't have. EnglishRed's comment was true (with the added text of) "it shows they aren't offering enough - to get the deal done!

DKD is an attacking midfielder, he will sit behind two of Evans/Swan/Gregory/Nichols.

He could still go this window, but only if our valuation is met.

As soon as Evatt feels like the agents or players are taking the pee, he'll move onto a new target he's very stubborn
