It's on our forum from someone who Is itk as a rule, it's known he's leaving and the thought was he would want a move back south and with Bristol looking for a striker 2+2 =5. Apparently his wife doesn't want to move too far from the area.

How reliable/ITK is he? Cause a awful Walsall transfers account posted about it an hour before he put that on your forum, could be a coincidence but it might not be.

Rochdale fans, talk to me about Peter Vincenti. I was under the impression that he's very decent, why have you let him go?
He has been an excellent servant for us, but lost his place through injury last season and didn't look too sharp when he came back at the end of the season. Plus we have strength in depth in wide midfield/forward, so probably couldn't guarantee him regular starts.

One of the good guys off the pitch; does huge amounts of stuff for charity, etc.

Given a good pre season he'll do well in L2 for you.

In other Dale news, Joe Thompson has tweeted that his cancer is in remission again, which is great news!

I think a lot of Rovers fans are being fooled by made up transfer rumour accounts on Twitter at the moment. Someone sees a 'rumour' about Rovers, believes it, posts it on social media as if it is a dead cert and then other people read it and believe it to be true. Of course, 99.9% of the time it isn't. It has been made up by an attention-seeking saddo.

That's not to say we won't sign any of the players we have been 'linked' with - anything could happen - but Darrell keeps his cards close to his chest and more often than not we won't know who we're signing until they're officially signed.

PS, I want to echo everybody else and say that I am bloody delighted for Joe Thompson! Great news.

3 years, wow. Sad to see him go? Of course, he's been fanstastic for us and he'll be a great signing for Scunny, but three years? No chance, they're welcome to him for that long. All the best to him though, he'll get a great reception when he comes back leaving behind some brilliant memories during his time here.
In general, it is progressively diminishing returns on players after they reach 30. Risky taking on McArdle with a 3-year contract. BUT, our manager played league football until he was 40. Also he played 40 times for Scotland in his 30's, up until he was 37. I see him as an exception though.

The other issue I have is what happens if we go up? McArdle is unproven in the Championship. Risky again for someone on a long contract, who maybe is not good enough.

Here's hoping life begins at 30 for him and he gets even better than he has been at Bradford.

As we've talked about, he's a good signing for you in this league but you'll need better if you go up. He owes us nothing and is on a far better deal at yours than he would have got here so can't blame him for moving. We just need to replace him now.

2/4 and Ball to be confirmed shortly after Ward's confirmed as leaving.

£1.6m for Ward that could rise for £2m. Not bad for a one season wonder.

Ball now confirmed. Bid in for Proctor. Still want O'Grady and that Cook from tranmere.

Ball the only signing I'm happy with.

Squad will be one the best on the league even doing it on the cheap.

Still want Stewart out.

Just seen Plymouth have signed Ness who we let go. If they can keep him fit, he'll will be a very good player for them. He's great but injured too much.

Sounds like a decent signing if we can keep Ness fit. Any reason in particular why he was released or just fitness?

I think he'll be a league 1 version of Smith/Donaldson last year who were our 'squad' midfielders. Definitely an upgrade by the sound of it. Onwards and upwards :2thumb:

Mostly just fitness. He was good in the games that he played, he just couldn't play enough. He's a ridiculous passer, his biggest problem is his tendency to slow the play down as he's not very quick and very one footed.

I agree with your second paragraph. I would add I am looking forward to what terrible puns the wordsmiths can come up with.

Did you mean Chris O'Grady or a different one? He's just signed a 2yr deal at Latics that's all.

Kilgallon signs an extension, steady as long as he stays fit.

Pompey have signed Swindon Captain Nathan Thompson on a 2 year deal. Have no idea about him. Apparently Charlton and Rotherham were after him.

Yeah I mentioned him the other day. From what I gather he's a bit short for a CB, but can also play RB. A bit on the slow side but puts in 110%... not sure where he'll play as we have 3 very good CB's. Also a tad injury prone.

We've signed Tom Eaves on a two year deal. I know he's tall, but not a lot else.

In other news, Elliot List has signed a new one year deal. BE AFRAID.

Signed Jon Guthrie on a 2 year deal after he rejected a new contact from Crewe Alexandra. Apparently we've beaten a few clubs cause he had a "number of offers from clubs in League One".

Meh, bang average it seems.

Yeah, average. Probably below average for L1. Over rated by our fans 'cos he's a likeable guy and was plucked from obscurity, but if you speak to some of our fans you'd think we've gone years without conceding a goal. He's certainly not been the worst but he's played his part in a really terrible defence over the last few years.

Got to say I'm not too thrilled that we lose the 9th top scorer in our club's history and in return we bring in a striker who scored 4 goals last year and was released by a struggling league 2 club.

Tom Eaves. A League 1 player.
:fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl:

The last time he scored a goal was 2nd December.

I fear a lot will categorise him like this just because it's happened on the same day. Already on Twitter the knives are out for Eaves, poor kid doesn't stand a chance with our rabble.

We had him on loan 2/3 years back, think it was in league 2. He's your typical target man. Don't expect him to score you goals. Just checked his record 20 goals in 8 years.

Fans were calling for a target man all of last season. Now we've got one, they're moaning about the goal record  If he was big, powerful and a focal point AND a clinical goalscorer, then he'd be playing Premier League.
