I'd keep him, but only because we are light on numbers. We looked far more mobile without him going forward today, whilst he has a lot of assists most are from set pieces and he slows our play down from open play, and gets beaten to easily to any half decent winger. I'd get rid in the summer though, nowhere near good enough should we go up. Even if we don't go up I think we need better in the future.

What is it with Scunthorpe and our older players, there are far better right backs out there who they must be able to afford.

Can see why they’d try and put a nominal bid in for him. He contributes to our goal tally and there’s no guarantee we could replace that aspect of his game in January. Unsettles a play off rival and you get a steady L1 player out of it.

The strange part is the exact same with the McArdle signing, if they do get promoted then they’d have Rory and McMahon tied up next year on decent money in the Championship when they’re just not good enough.

Will imagine he will go back. He’s struggled for us when he’s played, not the answer. He got hauled off on Boxing Day at half time as he was all over the shop so probably his last outing.

Don't want McMahon. We don't need somebody who takes set pieces, we have Morris. We currently don't have a RB and we're playing an attacking mid there so we could do with one but I would rather us sign someone else.

He's been poor tbh, he was poor initially against Portsmouth but we got away with it and I was happy to give him a run. But he has been shocking since as well, especially against Peterborough simple straight balls left him totally stranded. He's had his chance now, if we can I hope we give him back and go for better. Maybe we've just being blessed with CB's over the last 5 years, so he seems worse than he is, but Killgallon and Percival have to play or I fear for us.

It's strange as he's a RB and defending is probably a weakness of his against anyone half decent, he's made a few league one wingers look a class above. If you have a set piece taker then you may as well go for a better RB, there are better out there.

All this said I think we've already said we won't consider it as we did with Vincelot, this is different to McArdle as he was out of contract so it was out of our hands. Don't think we'd sell to a direct rival for what I suspect will be a pittance.

Brilliant. He'll fit in with the rest of our useless lot then

We were supposedly watching Billy Bodin today, been a target since the summer.
I’ve seen that rumour, however I don’t think both Ridsdale & Neil would have been wined and dined by Latics today if they were only looking at Bodin.

Would imagine Doyle was a big talking point, and I’ve also seen a rumour that you’re after Rob Hunt - our LB who can also play RB (he’s right footed).

Been a bit mental over the last week with rumours. Currently linked with Walker, Marcus Barnes, Jai Quitongo and most recently James Vaughan. On the flipside Villa (Bruce) is after Nick Powell.

I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if we're in for another full back.

Hopefully killing 2 birds with 1 stone, watch Bodin and sort out a deal to sell Doyle.

Current transfer rumours at Bury are that 16 players are set to leave and we are getting GK Connor Ripley on loan.

The manager and chairman have both come out and said the squad needs trimming so wouldn't surprise me with the first one. Bad eggs like Maguire and Bunn need to be shipped out and we need to get Zeli Ismail back from Walsall as his loan expires on Jan 2nd.

When criticising reported targets about their lack of goals previously, it's worth remembering that Moore had scored fuck all before joining us and Ipswich fans unanimously called him shite. I always remember Walsall fans absolutely ripping us over signing their reject Mark Robins. 26 goals and a promotion later we struggled to hear them laughing. I'll always give a bloke a chance. It's not how many has player x scored. It's also about what sort of team is he in, how do they play and what service has he had.

Wouldn’t mind Maguire myself. Would take Ajose too.

Rumour has it you may also be getting Peter Clarke back...

You really don't. Ajose doesn't look interested in football. There's a decent player in Maguire for sure but like most of them they don't give a shit.

Our chairman confirmed we've tabled a bid for Tony McMahon. We don't have a RB fit so one coming in would be nice but McMahon wouldn't be my first choice.

He also confirmed we're after Sean Longstaff who plays for Blackpool on loan from Newcastle.

Played today, be shocked if he left tbh seems similar to Vincelot last summer.

I’d like to think we have been scouting a right back even if McMahon were to stay and if they offer us money for him and increase his wages/give him a longer contract then it could be a goer.

As long as with Hanson last season we replaced with better, I wouldn't complain. But I think he'll probably stay, due to us being neck and neck with them.

Give me the postcode and I'll drive the useless lazy bugger round for you

Your squad is full of quality IMO, and I probably don’t need to tell you this, but you should be looking closer to home in relation to your poor form.

On a side note, we could really do with another LB - and Greg Leigh is always welcome back at Valley Parade.

Newcastle United loanee, Alex Gilliead, looks set to extend his stay until the end of the season. McCall confirmed today that he wishes to stay, and NUFC are happy for him to remain here - just a case of getting the deal signed. He’s been pretty good this season, and with Championship clubs interested, we’ve done well to keep him.

Out of contract at the end of the season and no news on offering him a new one. If I was him I'd get out this month. He doesn't deserve a relegation on his CV

Quality is not really in doubt, effort however is.
We have seen (as has everybody else) loads of players who for whatever reason just do not perform for your club, this season it seems to be a majority of players at ours.
Look close to home? Lee Clark seems to have screwed us royally and I feel really sorry for Chris L.
Going down dosnt worry me, going bust does.

Charlton are loaning Stephy Mavididi again.

Bad move for him in the summer, he's not ready for Championship football by any stretch.

Has the attributes but not the brain or experience.

Paddy Madden is another name we've been linked with.. apparently some Scunthorpe fans think it's a done deal?

It's all well and good signing good players in a last desperate attempt to stay up but we did this in the summer and look where it got us...

There is absolutely no doubt the players we have are good enough for this league, on paper it's a good team which makes it even more baffling that we currently sit 11 points adrift of safety, it's just horrific management by the club and Lee Clark that has got us to the performances we're seeing now, it's clear at least half the team don't want to play for us.

Reasonably happy, he looked ok before getting injured. Just hope he's not the only striker we bring although I suspect he is.

You'll be disappointed to hear that Robinson was in local press last week saying he was interested in a loan for Doyle before hearing of his blood clot.

His pace and power will cause problems down here, potentially a good player one day if he sorts out his decision making and awareness.

Pretty sure we will get permanent offers for ginger bollocks if he's fit enough to make a move, Scunthorpe had already lined up a £300k bid supposedly. If he ends up going back out on loan then i'd be surprised if its not Oldham.

Don't know how long it takes to recover from something like that to be honest, worried we will be stuck with him till the summer though.

Rumours about Ryan Leonard again. That would surprise me given Sheffield United's previous interest, and they must be as desperate as ever now that Coutts is out for the season.
We're in for Leonard as well, would be happy if we do sign him.
