Haha. It's painful to see some of the young lads in both of the fanbases try to turn Hartlepool v Carlisle into something it never was. There's been the odd incident over the years but no more than you'd expect from any match between two close-ish clubs. But tbh, Carlisle had all their rivals stripped away from them in the great Div 4 north west cull of the 1970s, and we lost Darlington about 15 years ago after playing them in what seemed like almost every year for a century. Since then we've been like two old classmates who never really hung around together at school but now find themselves the only ones left after the rest of the old guard left town. We gravitate towards each other out of familiarity and a need for rivalry but nothing will come of it. Neither of us really dislikes the other enough. It's more of a tinpot grudging acknowledgement than a tinpot rivalry.

Couldn’t have written it better myself. As much as I like the nature and tribalism of being a one club county (Barrovians it’s up to you whether your in Cumbria or not, we don’t care) I do miss not having a proper derby.

Well, I was anticipating the Orient tickets to be snapped up quite quickly, but it seems we’re struggling to sell - which is strange and yet, disappointing. Around 600 sold, which will see a healthy following of around 800+ in the away end on Saturday.

Salford tickets selling like hotcakes.

As you say 800 or so is pretty decent but the impression I’ve always had with Bradford in the past is your away support tends to taper off quite noticeably south of Watford Gap. Ours does the same in fairness but not so sure it’s that much of a surprise.

It is also a bloody expensive thing to do watching your team away from home. I’ve just been fortunate I’ve lived in easy distance of our two away opponents so far.

I suppose it really does depend on the away day, but I think most clubs away support tails off the further afield you may or may not have to travel.

Suppose 800+ commuting a 420 mile round trip to watch a game a football ain’t too shabby - just not what I expected.

Ironically, on a person note, my first away game this season should be Vale away in November. Another ground we don’t seem to travel well to. I suppose the amount of times we’ve met takes it’s tole, but if we continue our good run of form, I’d be disappointed if we didn’t take 1,500-2,000+.

We have a strange away support but maybe it’s the same with other clubs, but we took around a 1000 to Charlton 3 Tuesday nights on the trot in league 1. Then had crap support on Saturdays at other London clubs, I think it’s partly to a new ground for a lot of people. Against Port Vale on a Saturday 1200 seems to be the magic number with another half that on a Tuesday. Hopefully touch wood we’re top and flying it might help a bit but we won’t take over 2000. Shame it isn’t the last away game of the season as if we were on for promotion we’d probably sell out then.

The issue with Vale is its not that easy on the train unless you know about Longport.

We have strange support that we generally travel very well North of Stoke but South not as much so (Walsall maybe the exception)

Get weird quirks though, we used to take 800-1000 to Oxford but 2-400 Swindon which is nearby or we never travel massively well to Mansfield but take loads to Chesterfield or Notts County for instance.

I think for any Vale v Bradford fixture as you say for the amount of times we’ve played each other it just feels rather mundane. I remember you bringing 3000 or so to VP the year you got promoted to the Premier League. It may well have been more in reality but our then owner had an ahem interesting approach to counting crowds, let’s put it like that. The other way I think the best we’ve brought to Bradford was in the pizza trophy when the club laid on free travel or maybe the first game of the Bruno era out of a morbid fascination of what was to come.

Aye, I vaguely recall that JPT fixture - I was sat up in the gods - not long since turning 19 years young.

Weirdly, I remember the away figure being 999, but I could’ve just made that up - but it was definitely under 1k.

When you lot scored, the stand flexed. Vale fans after the game implied that the sheer numbers made the stand bend in such manner; but in reality, it’s structural genius - it was always meant to given the grounds location.

We won on pens, which was the beginning of our pen shoot-out success. We managed to win 9 consecutive shoot-outs between 2009-2012; against the likes of: Notts County, Vale, Wednesday, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd, Hartlepool, Wigan, Northampton and Arsenal - eventually losing our world record to the mighty York City in 2014 (Alan Sheehan’s pen is still floating around space).

Anyway, I digress - thanks for the memories.

Back on topic:

Salford sold out - 1,316 (fans still queuing round the block).

Given their home numbers, surely it would make sense to release more away tickets. We’d shift 2,000+ with ease.

Haha they sold out in about 2 minutes and there was a nice meltdown on Twitter to pass the time. I suggest some of the go to Orient away instead, much better away day and tickets available. We should be selling our 1k allocation really pretty poor going.

Why would it make sense? They don’t need the money and don’t want to be outnumbered. Doesn’t make sense at all.

I agree a toy club like that aren’t interested in a couple of thousand extra on the gate, they’ve got enough money. We’ll still outnumber them though, have they even had a thousand in the home end this season so far?

Perhaps it makes sense from a Policing perspective. Much like last season when around 50 of our lot were turfed out the home end - it’ll happen again in a few weeks time, but they’ll be even more this time.

Is this the norm at your place.
The sentance below is taken from our OS, Importent Fan information for Saturday.

"Fans will also be searched by stewards upon entry into the ground."

I know bags can be searched and flags unfurled.

That's the norm at a lot of grounds.

I just hope at Hartlepool on Saturday the police don’t behave like arseholes again. Maybe 4/5 years ago they were forcing us all onto the train to Newcastle, one lad was trying to tell them that he needs to go in the other direction as he lives in Yorkshire or somewhere, but they were having none of it and he was just about thrown onto the Newcastle train with no ticket for that particular train. Pricks like. Plus there’s the local “welcome” that sometimes greets you at the station. I’m coming by train again but I was tempted to drive this time just to avoid all that shit.

I know who you mean, not seen that lot since we dropped out of the league.
Hope we will never see them again.

Surely if you are being kettled they would announce that beforehand?
