Social conditions and the rampant hooligan element hammered attendances across the board in the 1980s. Some big big clubs getting comparatively paltry home attendances.

I think what goes go a little bit unmentioned is that the seeds sown sixteen years ago when the cheap tickets launched are now properly bearing fruit.
Along the way it’s gradually picked up so many kids who are now adults (who now bring their kids…) or what were very occasional goers (would’ve previously said they supported Man U, only watched games on TV) like a lot of my mates, who 10+ years on have the bug, are hooked, go every week.
We get better crowds now then our recent successful years under Parky, for me it’s all down to the slow burn of picking up people along the way bit by bit that cheap tickets has allowed and now all of a sudden attendances far outweigh the football on show.

This is a very good point, naturally a period of success or other incentives such as affordable football as mentioned are what brings affinity to a club, helping build a fan base that will stand the test of time and provide a solid foundation even when things turn barren for a while.

Our prices are generally good - as they should be given the match day facilities we have - and combined with the most successful 4 or 5 year period we've had in our history we've got more families coming through the turnstile while kids around town are wearing Barrow shirts instead of Liverpool and Man United gear. This is why I keep re-iterating to people how critically important it is that we keep doing what we are doing for as long as we can. If someone offered me 6 or 7 years of 12th placed finishes alongside pricing incentives for people to come, developing a fan base to support the club over the next 50 years, then I'd snap your hand off.

Looks like we could be heading for 2,500 fans at MK. 2,200 tickets sold plus POTD.

Just me, apparently. Only got 15 professional players to choose from. No Kemp, MK 6/4 the win.

19th in the form table, I wouldn't be backing them on that.
They were by far the best team I’ve seen in years down here the other night, granted only a one game sample but they showed at the start of the season they are capable of beating anyone in this league and if they now have a manager they believe in I expect them to fly up the league. I can still see them getting promoted if they put a run together. Coincidentally I thought Swindon tried to play the same style, badly. I can see a comfortable MK Dons win today, granted only on a small sample size but I expect that form table to look different in a few weeks.

Not seen a figure yet for Crewe at Harrogate but we sold the 450 allocation for it.

God knows how MK impressed the Bradford fans so much - they were average at best today. Still good enough for us mind with our never ending foot-shooting. Nice, comfy seats is the best I can say on the day.

We make teams on bad runs look amazing, Dan. Been doing it since I was a kid.

2863 Wrexham at Notts.

Got on back to manchester at alfreton and it was bloody full of them, had a cracking laugh and a few ciders back through to piccadilly, that’s what you want, cracking chat.

I'll add that our away following was larger than the home crowds at Accrington, Forest Green and Harrogate, and just a handful smaller than the crowd at Sutton.

Not particularly a impressive stat considering the teams in question.

16/17 season, Crewe had gone 11 games without a win, we went there next game, lost 5-0.
Brighton had lost 14 in a row in ‘02 before we rocked up, whilst I was looking that up I saw this - “…November 1991. A time to celebrate, especially as City’s next game was at home to a Swansea side bottom of the table, who hadn’t scored a single away goal all season. What could go wrong? An awful lot, as it happens. Swansea not only broke their duck, they went goal crazy, scoring 6 (six!) times in the City net…”
A long list of examples where the above came from here https://widthofapost.com/2023/01/11/the-big-book-of-bradford-city-infamy/
