I cant imagine there was a buy x amount up front for it as originally pay on the day was going to be available so in theory we could of sold 1800 and had 2-300 turn up on the day paying on the turnstile.

You can’t pay on the turnstile at Notts, would be going to the ticket office even if paying on the day, so that would’ve been limited to the rest of the initial 1,900.

Surely they wouldn't sell just the 100 in that case and leave 200 annoyed Vale fans stuck outside?

Bradford didn’t get the full allocation. You lot, Bradford and Wrexham all got the 2,950 odd, which is what we see as our maximum and is the number we appear to have landed on as ‘giving any more than that loses us all home advantage and is a number that’s more than fair’. We wanted to do the same with Mansfield but were overruled by the police and had to give them the absolute max the stand can safely hold - 3,700 or whatever it was.

I’m pretty sure Vale could have the extra 1,000 if they were confident of selling them, but what we won’t do is just give a couple of hundred more for the reasons mentioned. Exactly the same thing happened with Stockport last season.
Ah okay, apologies in that case, I thought Bradford had the same as Mansfield. Weird that the police overruled you to increase the allocation, that's hardly ever the case.

That tumbleweed gif stinks of 'bastard got there first' type jealousy!
Absolutely, you did me the other week too on the Wimbledon pitch thread I clicked on it ready to put up a post about them borrowing MK Dons pitch and you’d already beat me to it by a few hours. :dis:

Risk of their fans going in the home ends I guess that’s much greater with that game than any other one.

We thought it was odd at the time - there’s absolutely nothing between Mansfield and County either, plus it was on sky.

I believe Notts have a different SAG to both Forest and Mansfield, but i can certainly relate to how odd/hopeless Notts police are

Apologies fella. I'm busy the rest of the week and this weekend, so it's all yours now for a while.

Obviously don’t agree with Notts’ approach (although we’re usually sensible over spiteful so Jacob’s explanation makes complete sense) but just being able to get 1,900 at a close League 2 ground should be counted as a bit of a blessing?

You’re welcome. Enjoy your day at indisputably the best venue League 2 has ever seen.

But why worry about that when you have an ultra-ready steward hit squad to remove away fans from home stands - 5 stewards surrounded me, wife, daughter and a friends son within seconds of the 96 minute equaliser in the play off game. They removed us from the family stand to the protest of some Notts fans who decided we weren’t the typical coke snorting hoolies that the Sunday Times branded us as.

Thankfully your stewards failed to spot the open away end gate and we were able to see ET and the winner.

Then my well brought up daughter powdered her nose after the winner and gave the finger to the stewards on the way out…

The thing is your saying you won't open the rest of the stand for something like 500 extra supporters yet you have to open the stand up the 1900 part of it every season for 100 Accrington, Harrogate, Sutton, Morecambe, Salford fans. So based on what your saying it's not worth opening any part of the away end at all when Salford ect go to meadow lane.

I’m ok I had the loyalty points to get a ticket early in the sales window thankfully!

Slightly different logic to say Vale can’t have more than 1900 fans than saying Accrington can’t have any fans at all

having said that I would love us to just decline to give any away tickets to a club on the grounds of us being disgusted by how tinpot they are

We get special treatment by police forces, they know how well we compete in these threads.

I think we might’ve done, had it not have been on SKY, kicking off at 12:30pm.

Think we fetched circa 2,300 ish.

Think we’ve failed to shift the 1,500 at Morecambe tonight. This’ll be the first time we’ve never sold out Morecambe (barring the Cup game against them 10 years ago).

I think Tranmere were selling well up until last week. Lack of info from the club regardless sales as per.

Cheltenham have very kindly allocated us 608 tickets at just £26 a pop. No thanks.

£28 on the day - so you're getting a bargain.

Seems unlikely considering it made general sale haha, they would have to be impressively disorganised.

Came on for some Vale~Notts BEEF. Suprised instead to see the 3 stand boys still hanging around, what’s up lads, no friends in the big league?

We’re generally pretty well run so hopefully we’ve done the correct sums and worked out it’s not worth giving Vale any more tickets from a financial pov. If a Vale fan hasn’t managed to get a ticket with a near 2,000 allocation I would question their commitment to it. Did they go on general sale?

Our record in home games with a big away following is piss poor so that’s probably entered our thinking as well. I know we’ve got a game tomorrow but I can’t really see that changing on Saturday.
I get what you're saying, but they went on general sale for about an hour on Saturday morning before selling out. I can't speak for anyone else but as a non ST holder I saw the initial 1,900 allocation and didn't rush because I know Notts have always given thousands to other clubs. Just saw it as a given we'd be given as many tickets as we wanted, knowing we wouldn't sell anywhere near the 3.8k Mansfield took. Pretty sure Bradford and Wrexham took well over 2k last season too. Easy to knock people for being disorganised after the event, but had no reason to think Notts would do this.

Just think it's a shame for both sets of fans. Notts won't appreciate it now, but likely we'll limit you to 1.5k now given the 10% rule they've applied to us will be reciprocated. For clubs like ours that sell out the smaller allocations in this league, you look forward to the larger allocations. I could understand this approach with a club that would take thousands to Notts but limit them in the home fixture...Mansfield 1.6k, Chesterfield ? Grimsby etc...but clubs like us that offer potentially 3k, it's a bit short sighted. If Notts are flying in Feb, Saturday 3pm kick off at our place would imagine more then 1.5k would want to go?

Its disappointing overall as we want football fans to attend matches at this level and seems silly to having thousands of empty seats when the demand is there to fill them, we've obviously given 4500 to teams in the past and now its 3100 with the stand move so from that aspect not being reciprocated when available is frustrating.

As usual its the fans who miss out and would be understandable if we reciprocate in the reverse fixture which would possibly see both sets of fans pointlessly miss out.

Have to say I've never been concerned about a larger following giving the away team a massive boost. Maybe because the only teams that sell out at vale are the ones where it's a bit silly we are playing them in the league...the Leeds/Sheffield's/derbys etc who are usually dicking the league anyway. I wouldn't be thinking "oh it's much better to play at home to notts county with a 1900 following than a 2900 following" I tend to look forward to the games with a busy away end. No one has ever said "wow Crewe have managed to bring 1000 instead of 500, we had better up our game"

Is that just me?

If it's police then can't argue with notts but if it's notts it does make you sound weak as piss.

Generally we don't seem to produce in front of a large Vale following anyway!

Beating Derby a couple of seasons back at Pride Park obviously stands out (what a day that was) and we usually get our token win's at Crewe and Burton but have often put in some poor ones.

Exactly! Notts should give us two stands and make it a fiver get in, maybe put some burslem shuttle buses on if they wanted to guarantee 3 points. I'm already nervous that 1900 is a bit high

I can't and wouldn't wish to argue with any of this. I have sympathy for clubs with complete 4 sided stadiums with good sized capacities and minimal obstructed views. They moan about the 1900 limit and I believe they are right to moan.

However clubs who don't and can't offer 1900 or in some cases even close to this figure I have very little sympathy. You can't offer under 1000 and then moan when you don't get 3000+ for a Big Day Out.

Ultimately, the owners aren't silly they weigh up the pros and cons and make a decision. I don't suspect they will really care in 300-500 away fans who would have gone now won't in the grand scheme of things as the attendance will still be very healthy.
