Not really - I know its 90 miles but it is still their closest game. Compare Carlisle taking nearly 3k to Blackpool and 2k to Morcambe...

Closest in miles sure, it's 94 to Donny and takes about 30 mins less.

For a team that gets between 3300-3500 home fans, 887 is a pretty good effort and comparing our away support to Carlisle, a side currently unbeaten home and away, is a bit pointless fella.

Just thought it wasn't a good following; With 500 plus Poolies to Gy a couple of weeks ago (a good following) I would have expected 1000 plus for your closest game. I compared to Carlisle as another northern club out on a limb but maybe not fair because they travel exceptionally well.

It's not that close, 90 miles and the roads/trains are shite but you're right, it's not our best following. We're often well backed at northern clubs but much less so at southern sides. We usually take at least 1000 there but not this time, had 2500 there the other year.

Carlisle are a bit bigger than Pools,I'd say,and although Carlisle no doubt has its attractions as a football away day, both Morecambe and especially Blackpool, are seaside resorts too, which always attracts extra people.

Agreed, on reflection not a fair comparison.

We always seem to travel really well for certain fixtures - Cambridge (130 miles 6 hour + round trip with Camridge traffic) 1,150 yesterday. No way will we have that many at Hartlepool, slightly further but quicker journey, unless we are in a promotion challenging spot. Just thought Carlisle would be one those "certain" fixtures for Pool given they have feck all else up there. Any road up Soup Ladle seems to agree...

Any chance of someone uploading the latest away averages (only because we'll be near the top )?

I personally thought the Hartlepool number was below average. It's a shame their away end holds less than 1000, we've got them Easter Friday this year.

It used to hold a few more but some woolly back muppets ripped em out last season

You've not sold out the Rink End the past 2 seasons, this year you should and probably will.

No they don't. Stop trying to be "cool" and go play elsewhere, your fishing is pathetic.
I don't need to try being 'cool'-it just comes naturally to me and Notts do indeed play at The County Ground, although it's rarely called that these days, and lastly I ain't fishin'.
For an accountant I'd have expected a bit more maturity on your part.

The Grimsby following at Cambs is exceptionally good...I guess the 'novelty' of being back in the Football League is boosting your numbers somewhat.

The novelty of being back in the league has nothing to do with our away support.

Think Carlisle average is 1154 considering trips to Porsmouth,Cambridge and Barnet in the 6 away games it's very good.

For as long as I've been going to BP, Hartlepool have only ever brought 400 or so over for run of the mill games... but it's a pain of a journey considering it's only 90mile or whatever, to be fair.

Their last two followings have been bang on.

Don't give me that,fella.
You're on the crest of a wave, life's good, you're back in Lge2 and I'm sure that's boosting your away numbers significantly.
There's no way you'd normally take 1100 plus all the way to Cambridge for a run of the mill fixture.

Whatever it is, it's the best I can remember, best in my lifetime I expect. Alot of old faces there yesterday. There are so many of us who first started going in the 71 McMenemy promotion season when attendances increased by 200%. They are coming back but probably spread all over the country which is why the away support is very good and the home crowds pretty mediocre really. That's my theory anyway...

Ofcourse the journey is made all the more agreeable,I would wager,by the delightful vistas to be consumed should one partake of the railway service from Newcastle to Carlisle.
