We've sold out for Chesterfield next week. I'm assuming that Chesterfield must be looking to increase the capacity of the ground? I guess at the time they moved, just over 10k seemed more than enough but with increased attendances, 1k for away supporters is a pretty pitiful offering. I get that the club wants to accommodate as many home supporters as possible but you can't be offering that allowance to some of the clubs in league 1. I presume that expansion is in the long term plans, otherwise you're missing out massively financially as you move up the leagues. I think we offer something like 3,600 for example.
We can extend the North and East stands I believe, as well as South east and North West corners. Doubt we will do it unless we look like making the championship.

Grounds holds about 10200 and we will have 9000+ in there again next week so we are pushing it but not quite selling out every week

That's about 10% of their ground capacity right?

Attendances for clubs such as Chesterfield have indeed moved on due to their recent success in NL. Their away capacity and overall capacity now looks insufficient especially if they hope to progress up the leagues.

I can only assume their stadium was designed to be easily extended if necessary, is that the case?

Ground development announced last November, current capacity is limited pending development, and us season ticket holders are having to be ‘flexible’ post February

I went in the home end when we played there before Christmas. Really liked the club house/bar that's been created and the newish home stand behind the goal. That looks smart. We walked along the front of the home end to the terracing behind the dugouts, which need some serious attention and the other stand behind the goal. I'm guessing a decent stint in the league will see those stands developed?

We’ll only do it when we’re regularly selling out the home end week in week out, & quite rightly too otherwise it’s just a complete waste of money. I very much doubt we’ll be worried about what some ‘big clubs in league 1’ think to our away allocation…

Sounds similar to us - we can fill in the corners and add a tier to one of the side stands to take the capacity up to circa 17,000 I think... nigh on impossible to imagine a world in which that would ever be required though.

Your ‘new’ ground has been a huge positive and, imo 9000+ in Division 4 is a fantastic achievement by any club

It’s 10% that you have to offer to away fans, unless you are Stockport who get special treatment for some reason.

I've no issue whatsoever with the allocation for Chesterfield, they're almost filling their ground with home fans and meeting their demand whilst providing the required allocation for away fans to meet EFL rules. At the same time they're not leaving thousands of their own fans disappointed without tickets.

I'm missing out on a ticket as I'm not a ST holder, it happens, accept it. I can't have any complaints. There won't be thousands of empty seats in the away end, like Notts County. So who are we to tell Chesterfield how to allocate tickets in their own ground.

The irony of complaining about an away allocation is that some of our fans are trying to come across like we're massive. Whereas a genuinely massive club would sell out every week, so they'd be used to it and not bother complaining. Imagine what the likes of Leeds, Wednesday, Sunderland etc are like, scrambling for tickets every other week. We're a 4th division club, and Chesterfield have a ground perfect for their demand. Again, who are we to tell them to make their ground bigger? If the demand for tickets in the home end out weighs supply, then I'm sure they'd give it consideration.

All this complaining just smacks of entitlement.

Chesterfield's attendances have been mighty impressive these past few years now averaging more than many sides in the division above.
Ever since the Trust took over attendances have been good. When the Kirks got involved it just seemed to go up another gear.

I'm old enough to remember when we considered anything over 3000 at Saltergate as a good attendance, so we have indeed come a long way.

733 MK Dons fans in a crowd of 6,144 at Walsall.

Not too Xabi Alonso for a team in 12th, bottom of the form table and going through its worst ever season.

After 20 odd years of stagnation the franchise finally take an average away following considering the relatively short distance & you can't move for the fuckers on here
