I recall Histon as watched a play off semi on TV and they are down the road from Cambridge I think who had played someone earlier (want to say Stevenage but could be wrong!) and the Cambridge fans were stood on a hill watching them I guess to see who they’d get if they progressed.

Yep we beat Stevenage at lunchtime (won 3-0 in the second leg after losing the first 3-1) then Histon beat Torquay 1-0 that evening but lost 2-1 on aggregate. A load of our fans stood on the bridge to ousting both Histon and Torquay. #cambridgemainfirm

Again apologies for allowing FGR into the greatest league on earth, but at least we prevented Boring Wood and by giving them a man advantage to level the playing field.
No allow about it, you tried to stop us but you can't hold back the tide of history. Now shut up and eat this falafel.

Quietly optimistic about our chances tomorrow. Going for a 2-1 win against Carlisle. Watch us lose 0-4 now.

You’re not a proper lower league club if you’ve not been relegated to non league at some point. You have to experience the sheer despair of not only having to play the likes of Bath, Farsley, Dorchester, Hayes, Histon etc but then going on to lose against them. It’s character building.

The only true clubs in this division are us, Mansfield, Grimsby, Lincoln, Macclesfield, Exeter, Carlisle, Cheltenham and Tranmere. Everyone else is tinpot.

If spending time in non-league is criteria for being a proper club then I see all your poxy few years and raise you 108 years of working through local leagues, Southern League, Alliance, Conference, Isthmian/Ryman etc.

This includes being denied election from the the Southern League by the Division 4 clique on numerous occasions when we were patently a better club than many in the football league.

I know Notts County were founder members of the league but they obviously existed before the league was formed (non-league) but is there a club whose first season in existence was in the football league?

MK Dons.

Other than that, then no I don't think so. I did think maybe Leeds United (who took over from Leeds City in 1919) but they played a year in the Midland League before being elected to the Football League.

One of our biggest problems was our geographical location, no-one wanted to go to Yeovil. I doubt they still do.

I'm making a special effort this season. Yeovil is the only ground in League 2 I haven't been to (not been to Stadium MK but I did see us when they played at the hockey stadium) so as soon as the fixtures came out me and my mate were on it.

We're coming over on the Friday and staying over Friday/Saturday night. Already got The Premier Inn in the Town Centre booked (2 nights for a total of £50.50, bargain). We were going to come last season but the Saturday game was postponed as you were still in the FA Cup and we couldn't make it midweek. It's not an FA Cup week or an international break, so the only thing that will see the game called off is the weather!

Done Yeovil once first time we played there, was decent (bar us losing 1-0 against ten men after battering them to get hit on the break in the last couple of minutes!)

Stayed Friday-Sunday was a decent weekend on the lash, recall it was miles to the ground from the centre so started out early doors working our way to the ground via various pubs!

I think that'll be our plan. Apparently there's a Wetherspoons very close to the hotel so that'll do for breakfast and a pint to start. :bg:

Been plenty of times, Lad played for Yeovil before they had a real academy (only Green Machine) so seen him there a few times as well,

Off to the County Ground tomorrow for the return of our once great lead.....I mean the chocolate teapot.

I hope he’ll be leaving with his tail well and tricky between his useless legs.

The William Dampier is approximately 50 yards from the Premier Inn so you're ok there. That part of Middle Street is known as Takeaway Alley (you'll see why) so you won't be short of a curry or kebab when you get back. Cineworld/Bowling Alley/Frankie & Benny's etc. 50 yards the other side but if you fancy a very good Italian meal I recommend Tamburino's which is opposite the hotel (providing you can get in).

We did. Played our first few home games there in 2002 while our pitch was being relaid. We were top of the league when we returned to Huish Park at the end of September and stayed there until the end of the season when we won the league. Happy days!

I simply can’t believe this game hasn’t got its own thread?! Or am I just missing it?

I did think that one of the ‘many’ (compared to us on here) Mansfield fans may have started a thread.

At least the side note today of Flitcroft (I refuse to give him a stupid nickname like cuntcroft, shitcroft, bum waffle etc) adds a little bit of spice to the normal tedium down at the County Ground.

At least by playing aside managed by flitcroft that you know you won’t lose.

He’ll either lose or SUPERDRAW you into a 1-1 result with him claiming we battered you when we clearly didn’t.

As I’m clearly inspired by his amazing tactics I’m being a proper Mansfield fan and going to watch stoke vs Birmingham

Weirdly I think it may be an entertaining game today. Will Flitcroft’s ego be such that he comes for a point? Can’t really call this one at all.

Enjoy the game at the Britannia. I’ll report back post match with some honest feedback.

I was waiting to see if someone would post that. Funnily enough they played the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil a couple of months ago so they're a bunch of hypocrites lol
