I'm guessing you'd want to develop both stands behind the goals?

The cheap option would be just to put a roof on the Stratton bank. (which is the overspill stand for away fans).

I think that they are looking to knock down and rebuild the Town End (which is where our 'ultras' stand and do the bare minimum with the Stratton Bank.

Time will tell!

Yep sounds smart.

Have always thought the Town End is ridiculously tinpot for a club like Swindon. Plenty of room behind it to build a bigger, better stand too.

Its always been a fairly small stand. There is a huge amount of space behind where the car park is, so there could be a blank canvas to build a decent double tiered stand (maybe like the one at Walsall?)

Despite it being pretty crap, I love the ground, its crumbling and uncomfortable, but at least it has character. If we can revamp it rather than having to move out of the town centre, that would be a winning solution.

It's location for me. I don't actually mind new stadioums, it's just that they are always in utterly sh1t locations. No local pubs but I'm sure the police love that.

Always been desperate for us to stay put of possible.

Can't believe we're in the midst of being able to improve The County Ground rather than demolish it. Never thought we'd be able to overcome that obstacle with our council.

With all due respect Colchester's stadium location for example is my worst nightmare and it'd almost feel like a different club to me if we went down that route.

Still - early days.

The Trust are on about building some innovative replacement for the TE - the first of its kind apparently. They are in cahoots with developers to use us as some kind of flagship for whatever this new design is.

£15m has been mooted just for the TE replacement, so God knows what we’d get for that figure. I’d imagine some of the smaller entire new stadiums wouldn’t cost much more.

Time will tell.

That is a lot of wonga for one stand. Two tiered with a safe standing bottom tier would be decent.

I’m going to the Trust AGM next Friday - maybe they’ll be some flesh on the bones then.

Lol Luton boasting about profits. Probably illegally signing players again like they did when they beat us to the league one title a decade ago.

Crawley welcome Grimsby tomorrow. The Half Moon and the Downsman pubs within walking distance (Downsman does an ok curry) and Redz open to away fans. Ale at the usual extortionate southern prices available.

I've always had a soft spot for Grimsby. Ever since they stole Adeamo from us. :fish:

I think three more points would see us safe. One or two if the teams below will probably get to 42 points but not all of them. Trouble is I can't see us getting anything from any game at the moment. We have become toothless and allways look like conceeding. I think the buffer we have built up will save us but something needs to change.

Quite a lot wong in one sentence which is impressive. Firstly we beat Hull to the title, you never had a sniff and were never considered close to it.

It was proven all we did was pay agents from the holding companies bank account rather than the football clubs, thats all. It was a technicality and also proven that other clubs were doing the same thing. Also most of the offences occurred in the season after we won the league. The Carlos Edwards signing was the main that was picked on throughout the whole thing and it was the summer afterward.

Suggest you read this: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/nov/21/luton and this https://www.theguardian.com/football/2008/jun/18/lutontown.leaguetwofootball as you seem totally misinformed.

Comfortable win that flattered Crewe. They seem intent on passing it sideways and diving all over the show.

Make or brake fixture today, failure to win this would mean mid table for us. It's times like this when you question where we're headed with Cooper in charge. Hopefully he has done his homework for once. First requirement is to play like you want to win, that's not been obvious lately. We're not showing anywhere near enough purpose. Finger out time!

Thankfully the Cheltenham festival will take my mind off football for a week.

Don't think Morecambe have beaten a top half side at home all season.

We've lost four of the last five, so it's evenly poised. Cooper has made big changes in our starting line-up since last weekend. Looks like he's going for real change in hope of getting a re-action.

We are well and truly on holiday already. Very disappointing after finding ourselves with an outside chance of the playoffs. If we can cut this losing streak to just 2 or 3 though, that would be progress.

An entertaining 1-1 draw with Oldham. They were the stronger side in the first half though they only scored courtesy of another gift from one of our defenders (nothing new there). Second 45 was a different story and we came close to winning the game but tbf I think Oldham did deserve the point in the end.

That was all it was - an outside chance and nothing more. Speaking as a neutral, you lot aren't as strong as the other play off chasing sides like Col U, Tranny and Exeter.

Having said that, you are definitely are a much better side than you were last year so you're on the right track. Add 2/ 3 new faces to this year's squad, and keep hold of your better players, and next season could see you lot up there.

We're plagued with what every mid table side suffers with, good old inconsistency. Compared to last season however, we've had spells of playing extremely well and you can see the ceiling for this squad is a lot, lot higher. We need a few things to go our way in the next window but Jolley has had two very good ones so far so no reason to believe he won't have another.

This will vary widely between Town fans I imagine but for me, I think we should be looking at top 7 next season. It's obviously early and a lot can / will need to happen until then but as of right now, I'm fairly confident.

Sounded an absolute shambles and half-arsed with it.

It's a team that's lacking motivation and leadership. I heard in the week that Cooper had a big falling out with Rueben Reid and Farrend Rawson that's split the dressing room. How true, I don't know.

Well I thought that was a good game. We have lost to worse teams than Grimsby so to come from behind, win and create a few more chances is pleasing from my point of view.

Some thoughts on the game.

Grimsby were a good side. I thought the blond haired centre back (no5) was one of the better defenders I've seen this season.

Surprised the Grimsby goal was allowed as the header back was won by a foul (imho). I did think it was not going to be our day because straight after Grimsby scored we hit the bar twice!

Ollie Palmer was lucky not to get booked for diving. I saw three, one of which was in the box, and he got some grief from the Crawley fans for it.

Lewis Young put in two good crosses. That's probably double his rally for the rest of the season.

I think we are pretty safe now so we should be seeing you again next season.

Ffs Swindon, we give you the answer to your defensive problems, we give you the answer to your winger/attacking problems - 2 in 2 now for Bennett & you still lose.

Nothing will get you promoted

What's the general thoughts around Cooper? Has he overachieved to get you around the PO's despite you mini slump or is it on par?

I had a quick look on your forum last weekend and it seemed more and more were unsure whether he'd be able to take you forward anymore.

Never got the impression that FGR have truly taken to him, which I can understand because he's not a people person really. Quite an aloof character.

Hero as a player but far from pleasant as a manager. Too quick to launch into confrontations with anyone who criticises him. Arrogant and unintelligent. Never seems to look at himself when it comes to bad results and singles out individuals for criticism then drops them. No motivational ability, which I am led to believe, is a big factor in the current slump.

His job seems to be very safe as the chairman seemingly sees promotion to the EFL as worthy of a lifetime's position. I don't see how Cooper can himself be motivated.

I see Cooper as an underachiever and his constant tinkering makes him his own worse enemy. I'm not calling for his head but if he walked tomorrow I'd shrug my shoulders.

There is clearly a growing dissent against Cooper at FGR at present both online and in the stands. But there are still plenty who are loyal to him.
