Imagine thinking Artell was responsible for a thing that utter fuckwit Steve "sacked at Leyton Orient after accumulating a 15 game winless run despite having the second biggest budget in the league" Davis said. Fuming at that slander but expected from a Vale fan so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. To put things into perspective we played a similar wank Crawley side at home 2 years ago and lost 2-0 under the dull one's leadership.

We were poor for half an hour today but once the first goal went in we woke up and realised we could score goals again. So I'm happy for the team even if it was a strange game for a 6-1. But as I said before, if Davis was in charge, we'd have lost that game today such was the manager that he was.

Strange game and Meite the Crawley lad who got sent off got the most unnecessary red card I've ever seen. But they really were the worst side I've seen at Gresty Road since Morecambe on opening day. Won't be surprised at all if that signals the end of Cioffi as manager because he looked clueless after we equalised.

Wasn't happy with the starting XI, felt we'd gone too lightweight in midfield and I wouldn't have started Hunt at the back. I was ready to lose my shit with Artell for sticking with the front line shortly before we went goal crazy. Pleased we scored a hatful and won, but now we've hit 50 points, we should start mixing things up. Give Dale, Reilly, Finney, Travis Johnson and some of the U23s some game. Can't do any harm.

Owen Dale deserves a run of games for sure. He’s always impressed me when he’s come off the bench and at times turned games on their head which has got us a point or three.

Oli Finney my man of the match yesterday. Did everything right apart from score and he was very unlucky not to score. Definitely deserves a run in the team based on that performance given Jones has been a mix of unfit and lacklustre since his return.

Wintle excellent as well and is growing in stature. No coincidence his performances have significantly improved since Paul Green came back from injury. Hard to drop Bowery and Kirk after decent performances eventually yesterday but I'd rather start Dale over Ainley if we're gonna mix things up. His goal yesterday reminded me of Powell's first goal at Gresty Road vs Hereford in 2011!

Think we're gonna play full strength till playoffs are mathematically impossible personally but I'd like to see Travis Johnson make his debut before the seasons' end and maybe Luke Offord as well whose had a few appearances on the bench to give them some priceless first team experience.

Evening guys, remember us? See you next season!
Rumour has it that yesterday's referee has now ruled out Oxford's goal, given you a penalty, taken it himself, scored and blew for FT.

What the hell was going through his head yesterday?

Taken this from the L1 forum. Rule changes for next season.

Some rule changes starting from June 2019 that will effect all football clubs (Thought this is great timing for Bradford fans):

A number of rule changes will be introduced in football next season which will affect all English clubs. The International FA Board (IAFB) have introduced a number of changes for the 2019-20 season including clarifying handball regulations and changes to goal kicks, free kicks and goal celebrations. All of the changes will come into force on 1 June 2019 and these are the main points.

Dropped ball

If play is stopped inside the penalty area, the ball will be dropped for the goalkeeper. If play is stopped outside the penalty area, the ball will be dropped for one player of the team that last touched the ball at the point of the last touch. In all cases, all the other players (of both teams) must be at least 4m (4.5yds) away. If the ball touches the referee (or another match official) and goes into the goal, team possession changes or a promising attack starts, a dropped ball is awarded.

Free kicks

When there is a ‘wall’ of three or more defenders, the attackers are not allowed within 1m (1yd) of the wall; an attacker less than 1m (1yd) from the ‘wall’ when the kick is taken will be penalised with an indirect free kick. When the defending team takes a free kick in their own penalty area, the ball is in play once the kick is taken; it does not have to leave the penalty area before it can be played.

Goal celebrations

A yellow card for an ‘illegal’ celebration (e.g. removing the shirt) remains even if the goal is disallowed.

Goal kick

The ball is in play once the kick is taken; it can be played before leaving the penalty area.

Handball

Deliberate handball remains an offence. The following ‘handball’ situations, even if accidental, will be a free kick: The ball goes into the goal after touching an attacking player’s hand/arm. A player gains control/possession of the ball after it has touches their hand/arm and then scores, or creates a goalscoring opportunity. The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally bigger. The ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm). The following will not usually be a free kick, unless they are one of the above situations: The ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player who is close/near. The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which is close to their body and has not made their body unnaturally bigger. If a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground to support the body (but not extended to make the body bigger). If the goalkeeper attempts to ‘clear’ (release into play) a throw-in or deliberate kick from a teammate but the ‘clearance’ fails, the goalkeeper can then handle the ball.

Penalties

The team’s penalty taker can have (quick) treatment/assessment and then take the kick. The goalkeeper must not be touching the goalposts/crossbar/nets; they must not be moving. The goalkeeper must have at least part of one foot on/in line with the goal line when the kick is taken; cannot stand behind the line.

Substitutions

A player who is being substituted must leave the field by the nearest point on the touchline/goal line (unless the referee indicates the player can leave quickly/ immediately at the halfway line or a different point because of safety, injury etc). Goal kick The ball is in play once the kick is taken; it can be played before leaving the penalty area.

Is the penalty change in effect for next season too? Not that it’d concern Tranmere fans with around 2 penalties in the last 80 games.

Funnily enough, that's the only rule change I really disagree with with the above.

IMO the GK is already at such a disadvantage - I appreciate staying on the line etc, but not being able to move? That's a farce!

But the striker is allowed to pull tricks no problem!

To be fair, I think the effect of a keeper bobbing and weaving on his line doesn't really do all that much anyway. I think takers can often tell which way a keeper is going because he moves. A keeper standing stock still might unnerve a striker more.

And besides, no ref will literally enforce it to a ridiculous level. It'll end up the same as the encroachment rule where they let a lot of stuff go in the interest of actually getting the penalty taken. If they try and enforce keepers standing still, they'll be 10 retakes per penalty, which they won't want.

I wouldn't worry about it tbh, I can't see it effecting anything major.

Stupid rule about the subs leaving the pitch at the nearest point. Someone’s gonna get coined or bottled walking past the home fans behind the goal aren’t they?

Can’t see that happening at Yeovil vs Crewe tbf.

Going to get a lot of penalty re-takes! Plus what if a players does a stutter to make the keeper move?

Being booked for ‘illegal celebration’ is still such utter utter nonsense, sterilising the game. Should be binned, nevermind re-affirming it.

True, but imagine it at international/premier league level - when a keeper saves it and players start suggesting VAR - they look back and noticed he moved 0.5 seconds before he kicked the ball & suddenly he gets to retake it

We used to have a keeper on loan a few seasons ago called Ian Lawlor, decent enough on the whole, but he’d do this ridiculous thing where he’d literally dive before the taker has shot his penalty... were just sat there in stands like wtf as the opposition player just strokes it into the opposite corner. Happened about 5 times.

Steve Arnold used to dive early on pens as well, could never under why, most pens aren't right in the corner so if you go the right way it should be possible to save them without getting a head start.

Crawley for us tomorrow. Only played them 3 times in our history but yet to beat them (1 draw, 2 losses). They seem a pretty solid mid-table side at home.

We're hoping to have Shackell back and that'll probably be the only change if he is.

Refs add 30 seconds for a sub and I'm not sure too many subs take more than that either? That seems a daft one to me.

If they're that fussed, instead of a mandatory 30 seconds, just add on what it takes to leave the field.

We are nothing special followed by absolute crap and occasional 'where'd that come from'. God only knows which team will turn up tomorrow. Saying that the table don't lie and I expect a bit of a mauling.

The Imps are turning into a Crawley old boys team. I make it three in your squad. Although Bostwick was a long, long time ago (Roberts and Anderson in case you wondered).

We have not said anything about new injuries but Meite will be suspended due to a red card v Crewe.

Remember, leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but pictures...leave the bloody points!

Have a good trip down and back.

Casey, you forgot Akinde (pen)!!
Hopefully he'll forget where the goal is like when we won there in September.
2-2 and another point nearer safety.

Sad news about Fraser Franks. Played well against us last month for Newport and got the opening goal in their 1-4 win.

Weirdly Akinde doesn't win the penalties its normally our two wingers (Anderson and Andrade). 20 different players have scored for us this season.

He scores them though. We had similar when Tubbs played for us, although he won a fair few of them as well.

It's Stevenage for us tomorrow. I don't really know anything about them other than that we could do with beating them. Being able to but out the same side as last weekend will give us a decent chance.

Chair is very good, likes a shot from distance.
Their manager is the best in the division, well according to him anyway lol!

I forgot Akinde. I've tried to forget Akinde playing for us and you had to remind me. What was it, two or three seasons and one goal?

Banjos and cow's backsides come to mind....or Redhill as we say around here (so high and wide it will land in a town ten miles north).
