2 up at half time thanks to a Porter brace. Sounds like little Tommy Lowery is running the show again. This is the 3rd game in a row he been the best player on the park. It's a crime he's only started a handful of games, but I'm very hopeful going into the new season we have some exciting young players that are getting better all the time.

This being said I'm still expecting to lose. The last two visits the county ground we've blown a 2 goal half time lead.

The ref asked for our corner quadrants to be made bigger a few minutes before kick off :dk:

Doesn't sound like anyone wants to go up... though Lincoln are champions owing to other results, and despite defeat it feels less like we've blown in and more like we've missed an opportunity.

In fairness it sounds like the heat has taken its toll across the board. Two games played in four days in blistering heat, the commentators sounded very bored and everything was very lethargic. We sounded dead on our feet by the end and 9 minutes injury time can't have helped.

Can't believe we've won at the County Ground, last time that happened I was in the 2nd year of high school. I'm now 29. Sounded more than deserved, our media reckon their penalty never was and we had a clear one turned down straight after that. We'll wait for the highlights, but thankfully none of that mattered in the end.

Now to see if we can get to win number 15 at home on Saturday.

I think it probably was a penalty to them if we’re being honest, brought on by the fact the two centre halves were caught flat footed. Couldn’t see Porter’s (or the offside) but I can’t see why he’d “dive” with a clear sight of goal. The ref was a complete tit besides that anyway.

Thoroughly deserved win though. We were brilliant in the first half, superb football that Swindon couldn’t get to grips with. They woke up second half but besides the penalty I can’t remember Jaaskalainen doing anything of note.

Saw out the last 10 (+7) with ease. Lovely day.

Indeed, blimey even the Grimsby fans thought it strange they won. Carlisle must have been the worst team in the league to lose against a side in as bad a form as the Mariners! :emb:
And they’ve let us do it twice to em too, early in the season we were 8 without a win including 6 straight defeats and we beat em 1-0, then today we were 10 without a win and beat em 1-0.
Cheers Carlisle.

P.s I know ‘em’ isn’t a word but being a common Northener it’s just how I tend to speak. :bg:

Local radio says Smurthwaite Vales legendary and much loved chairman may be interested in buying us ( Notts) .
We're both mad enough and desperate enough for this to be true.

All I can say is as someone who wishes your club well hopefully this turns out to be false. I’m not sure I’d wish that twat on Stoke. Though I believe in Notts case isn’t the ground owned by someone else? In which case I suspect it will come to nothing.

Ouch, he was linked to Gateshead too although denied that.

Suppose with the crazy money he is getting for the Vale he could afford it.

I thought you were already there with a takeover and it was just the finer details to sort?

I can see why our manager is annoyed for once. Our 'offside' goal never was, clearly in line, the linesman needs to learn the rules. Their penalty, very soft, don't see what contact forced him to ground there. As for our penalty, it's a very similar challenge, I do think it's a bit of a dive, but if he gives the first then he should give this one.

Happy we won, but annoyed incompetent officials robbed us of a more convincing scoreline.

When you get such objectively shite decisions like that, it is a wonder how they keep their jobs. That offside decision is fucking basic stuff you'd expect to be correct 10 times out of 10 at any level.

Hopefully if he does go, it'll be a big wake up call to Ainley, Jones and Kirk, should they not move in the summer, to get their arses into gear, especially the former 2.

I don't think he'll command a huge fee, don't think teams would even be able to tell what his best position is. He's seemingly done ok at CB, well at RB but has traits(a wicked shot) which would make him useful further forward. Somewhere in the Cooper price bracket and I'd accept tbh.

Reckon Kirk could also be in line for a move, we saw with Jones 2 years ago and Cooper 18 months ago that some clubs take one look at a stats page and think 'ooohh, he's got a lot of assists/goals, he must be good'. Think that'll be the same for Kirk, with his 9 goals and 7 assists.

Back to the football and I'm concerned about Swindon today. We're shite on that ground and have been for the last decade. 6 straight losses, all by conceding 2 or more. Heavy defeats, limp performances, 3-1 leads blown in each of the last 2 visits. Worried the players will put their feet up after blowing by 2 probably conference bound teams, whilst Swindon are in desperation mode as they have to win to keep their top 7 hopes alive. Comfy home win. Hope I'm wrong.
You’re seriously under valuing Perry NG there, he should be going for at least double of what Cooper went for. He’s streets ahead.

Noticed you mentioned in your blog post (which was a very good read) that there were 3 players above him more likely to be sold, not the case at all, NG is the one dead cert to be snapped up this summer.

And there’s not a chance he’s going to Lincoln, unless they’ve got some new sheikh owners

Well, apparently due diligence has been done by a South African consortium but now we're told there's two more interested parties.
I don't trust a word anyone says any more, I'll wait 'til the press conference and the contract signing.

Surely they are waiting if you manage to survive relegation.

Given the stick we got for allowing the vegans into the greatest league on earth; if Orient or Wrexham allow Salford up, the fallout must be much more severe. In Wrexham’s case permanent expulsion seems fair.

Final away game of the season at Newport for us today.

Given Newport's pitch, I suspect we'll stick with Rhead and Akinde up top. We've only named 6 subs the last couple of games because we only have Frecklington as a homegrown player at the Club (Chapman out on loan) and he's picked up an injury.

We're playing a centre midfielder at right back because our manager won't play Craig Alcock who is a fit right back or Carl Dickinson who is a fit left back. Also playing 451 in a must-win game.
