And the Medical/Sports Science department won the League Two award in their field.
Well they must get a lot of practice the amount of times your players roll around on the floor like they are dieing.

No, that's unfair. Perhaps they are in fact seriously injured and you've just employed Jesus with a sponge. No wonder you're winning awards...

It was only 7k because every game there seemed to be a ticket offer of some description on.

And huge away followings, although the support did hold up pretty well for them all considered but it’s a bit of a misleading figure.

Chris, all power to your elbow and all that but does FGR really need a stadium like that? I seem to recall Darlington's troubles weren't helped by a shiny new stadium that cost a fortune in rates etc.

Better access, bigger catchment area. Personally think what we've got is fine but this ties in with DV's grand ambitions.

My previous post seems to have gone so just to repeat the news is that Stroud District Council have backed our new stadium plans and it's going to the planning committee for final approval next Wednesday. If it's given the green light it should take around 3 years to complete.

Do you think there's a proportion of fans who will stop going Chris?

I know some were against the kit change and badge, but carried on regardless, could this be a step too far for some?

Doubt they are bothered, trying to fabricate a new fan base.

Some definitely will stop coming afaik, although the point that's been made quite a lot is how the majority of our support doesn't come from Nailsworth anyway, and that the club actually represents the Stroud District. For a lot of people this location will be quicker to get to, but at the same time moving away from the clubs traditional roots doesn't sit comfortably with me and a number of our longer term fans. I would think most will give it a go but if it doesn't feel like the same club will gradually drift away. Whether the amount of new fans negates that remains to be seen.

A lot of people complain about parking and access etc though so I would think the majority will be on board in that respect.

Newport certainly did have a very varied season then!

At one point 2nd - and 23rd!

The mid-table were rather consistent in being mid-table...

We were only 23rd because we lost our first game away to Mansfield...Most of the season we were mid table. We managed to scrape into the play offs on the last day ( ok last 5 mins)

Which then leads to the second question (and I don't expect an answer, so don't feel obliged because how could you know) of where do the new fans come from?

1500 new homes going up next to the site so maybe the hope is to attract some of them, plus easier access in general what with it being a motorway junction/main road into Stroud. Whether it's realistic to suddenly expect people to come in large numbers to watch a club they had no prior connection with is another question, can't see it myself but could be wrong.

in any case, the on site car park should be big enough to cope with initial demand, what with it having 1700 spaces. Probaby be one of the biggest club car parks in league 2. 3x bigger then the Tesco Extra in Cirencester. Hope they still do park and ride from some of the Stonehouse industrial estates or something, because you can guarantee parking charges will be horrendous to 'offset the emissions'.

Incredible! I thought we had a good car park and ours is barely bigger than the Tesco Extra in Cirencester at all. I wonder who has the biggest car park in the league, and how other car parks rank against the Tesco Extra in Cirencester. My money's on Colchester.

I was debating whether to visit FGR this coming season, given I'm lucky really that they've taken so long to get promoted. Now I know I can combine the trip with a visit to the Tesco Extra in Cirencester where I can maybe take in the sights, get some holiday snaps and imagine how great FGR's car park will be, even if it's only lucky Arsenal and Liverpool fans that get to visit it.

I think I would park at the new ground when shopping in Cirencester as there is much more space,

If you do come, go to the Giraffe Cafe (same building) it's a lot nicer then the Tesco one.

And you are correct. Colchester's car park is bigger then Tesco Extra in Cirencester. They deserve to put a star on their shirts for that I would say.

Can't see why away fans would complain about us moving. To get here you'll come off the motorway briefly onto a dual carriageway and then turn straight into the car park at the signalled junction. Will make life a lot easier for you.

Where would be the nearest pub to Junction 13 (not including the social club that would be at the ground of course)?

There's a few in and around Eastington and Stonehouse that are walkable I'd say, plus we won't be far out of Stroud.

The old Badger inn would be the closest I think. Both that and The Kings Head are around a mile away.

Not for a while tbf. I don't live there anymore.

It's just an example of the biggest supermarket in the area I've been to. Sainsbury's and Morrisons are a lot smaller.

Shame about Giraffe going extinct, used to like it.

Typical glory hunting FGR fan, doesn't even live nearby. Probably lives in Liverpool or Manchester or something.

I’m a glory supporter too, I was born and still live in Grimsby so I really should support the team that is based in Grimsby (Cleethorpes Town) but instead I chose to go for the glitz and glamour that goes with supporting the world renowned Cleethorpes based team of Grimsby Town F.C. :db:

You got off lightly, in many families an admission like that would have been enough to get you put up for adoption!

Earlier on in the thread someone mentioned where support comes from. I go to games with a group of people, the vast majority don't live in Nailsworth and never have, most of us aren't even originally from Gloucestershire. I think there was a survey a few years back, where they asked people attending a particular game their Post Code, very few were from Nailsworth and the majority lived in or around Stroud.
