It's not just Curle, sadly this is what footy has become. It's becoming even more clearer to me that the main objective for managers nowadays is to not get beat when playing away, and then hope for a lucky break like scoring against the run of play. It's happening across all leagues, and off the top of my head, I can only think of Man City, Liverpool, Wolves and Wigan as sides that set up for the away games more or less the same way they do for the home games.

It's one thing setting up sides this way for the away matches, but it's inexcusable when this safety first approach is also employed in home games (cough, cough... Shaun Derry...cough).

The issues are that his negativity has cost us points this season. Chesterfield away was a disgrace, as was Morecambe at home last week.

Certain games its sensible to set up defensive and play for a draw, but against bottom and third bottom of the league teams, it’s unacceptable.

Oh and make that a left back as well. Because if Grainger’s injury is serious we’re as fucked as we were last season when we lost our only left back.
Tom Miller looked quite decent when filling in at left back earlier this season.

So that would mean Cambridge can join the exalted ranks of Man City and co as setting up the same away as at home.

Tom Miller looked quite decent when filling in at left back earlier this season.

He did ok, but it’s not ideal and if word is right that Brown won’t be staying we’ll be needing Miller at right back.

Parkes may be an option there as he’s left footed and good going forward but again that would leave us short of CB cover.

A striker is obv number 1 priority because Bennett clearly isn’t likely to get more than 5 goals a season at this level.

But a left back should be next on the list. Hopefully there’ll be room to get both if we can get rid of Ellis, Cosgrove, Nabi and Rigg

2 fractured cheekbones, 2 fractured eye sockets, fractured upper jaw, broken nose. It'd be some mask to protect that lot, also broke his wrist as well.
He's still got his legs hasn't he?
Fucking pussy.

I'm joking by the way.

I'm so demotivated for our game this weekend, I don't even know who we're playing and can't be arsed to look. Our forum is a bed of negativity and despair, it's all really depressing.

The players don't deserve all the flak but are worthy of some of it. It's Derry who deserves it most though but the board think it's only a handful of us who want him gone. I don't quite know how we've ended up with a board so disconnected to fan sentiment.

We're at home next Saturday I believe and I should be desperate to go but it feels like a chore. Feels nuts to write a post like this when we're so safe but my god we are uninspiring at the moment.

I think Cosgrove's just on a half season contract, and Rigg's contract is also short term. Also it does seem there's no shortage of clubs who would take Ellis on, right now though he's capable of playing left back. Nabi I think has been really underused, he always looks like he has something else on the times he has featured, but I guess we'd need to be a bit more comfortable that we can beat teams before we start putting a technically gifted but inexperienced young player in to see what more he can offer us. Of those only Ellis is probably on a decent wage, I don't think the other three's wages would be enough to bring in an experienced striker at this level.

May be a few games off this weekend with the weather forecast.

Heavy snow in Burslem tomorrow into Saturday and a high of 1c means our game with Cambridge would be unlikely to go ahead I would of thought.

I didn’t even notice that Luton have only lost 1 in the last 19 games in all competitions.

Bloody impressive.

Not sure what we've done wrong, but we've got Yeovil today, then Newport on the 23rd. That means in the first half of the season, we'll have been away at Exeter, Cheltenham, Swindon (Tuesday), FGR (Tuesday) and Yeovil in the south-west.

Anyway, Yeovil today who apparently have a decent home record. No new injuries for us, just JMD back at Brighton still.

It's your fault for being so far away. None of those places take too long to get to for most of us.

I'll raise you, here are our away fixtures just in October and November last season:

8 Oct Exeter (606 miles round trip)
15 Oct Cambridge (266 miles)
29 Oct Yeovil (564 miles)
19 Nov Plymouth (688 miles)
26 Nov Crawley (450 miles)

Stevenage away this afternoon. Good news for us on the injury front - striker Scott Kashket is on the verge of playing his first game of the season, midfielder Dom Gape should be in the squad today as will striker/winger Nathan Tyson which only leaves Michael Harriman who is out with a broken leg until next month according to Ainsworth.

We had 17 shots on goal with only 5 on target :ffs: At least our keeper Scott Brown had his effort hit the bar and bounce off the line  Some Wycombe fans who were there said it went over the line but i'll see for myself later.

A draw sounded like fair result to me. We had the best of the 1st half, you the 2nd. Poor substitution by us on 60 mins, he took off our best player (Samuel) and we lost all attacking threat after that.

If plan A doesn't work were screwed, Saarl appears clueless

Comfortable win for us today.

How we're 6th I do not know. A biggy against 3rd placed Accrington next week.

So far McGhee is living up to what the Brizzle Rovers said he’d be like rather than the Brighton fans.

Bloke's a bellend and has no class whatsoever.

Probably still smarting over the Elliott Frear stuff from the start of last season.

Class is right, classic bourgeois mentality - shady shit is all fun and games but don't shake my hand like we do down the Freemasons and toys go out the pram.

It's common courtesy in football to shake your opposite number's hand, players do it, manager's do it and, according to Paul Baker, every other chairperson he has met previously has done it.

Paul Baker is a fantastic bloke, and top chairman to boot. He, in my opinion, is the main reason that I have seen Cheltenham at Wembley, the Millennium stadium and reach the heights of League One football. He was the reason the club weren't overly affected by the ITV digital fiasco and he is going to be missed when he eventually does call it a day. However, when he does go, the club will still run as before and he will ensure it is in safe-hands.

When Vince calls it a day, I fear for what will happen to FGR.

Things aren't exactly rosy there now!
We're putting FGR fans out in the open on December 30th when they come to the San Sincil Bank and throwing buckets of water over them....

If my bug clears up, hoping to be at Crewe to see the mighty red ( )'s win away again.
Any Crewe fans reckon this match might be in danger of postponement?
