The Straight Red podcast at Crawley are indicating the game may be played behind closed doors as the safety certificate still has not been transferred. Seeing the person who used to do things like this is the person who has just been sacked they are not to hopeful this will be done. They also say there may be a walkout by the backroom staff (ticket office etc) in support of Kelly.

I would think it would be a gobsmackinglly stupid thing if they didn't get it done in time but I'd check before you travel.

New man in charge of running things at Crawley (they have these wonderful, meaningless titles) definitely inspires ... something.

Nukhan Ruzgar was previously a Sports Director for Kayseri Ersiyesspor in Turkey (Turkish owner don't forget). His record with them was (faithfully copied from Simon on the CTFC Forum) ...

2014-2015 – Relegated from Turkish Super League
2015-2016 – Relegated from Turkish First League
2016-2017 – Relegated from Turkish Second League
2017-2018 – Relegated from Turkish Third League into amateur football.

I'm sure there are many and varied reasons for the club's fall from the top but I have not been party to them. I don't know; but I can't help thinking he is a slash and burn manager and our demise may start here.

When Lewis Alessandra used to play for us he got lots and lots of penalties. Does he still have that knack?

I always liked him, he had a good partnership with Reid. He looked like he could play at a higher level, he just lacked the ball and shooting skills to do so.

A few things have gone wrong recently! The approaching transfer window has unsettled some and contributed to a loss of belief in the camp. Add to that the tinkering with our game in an effort to score more goals, and it worked for a few games. But that was not built on anything solid, we've reduced our two most influential players (Joe Mills and Liam Shepherd) to bit part players who's games are not suited to the positions they are playing. Suicide tactics I'm afraid.
Add to that our goalkeeping situation which was fucked-up from day one and we are looking at a bleak Christmas period. Swindon will murder us in a few weeks time. Jesus!

Probably turn it around today then!

Silkmen, any legs to the rumour that Saturday’s game might be behind closed doors because of safety certificate problems?

Colchester v Carlisle passes the inspection. A relief for the travelling away fans*

*Although by 5pm they’ll be wishing it had been called off.

Cheltenham at home just three weeks after beating them away in the FA Cup so assume they’ll want revenge!

No surprise we’ve started Pope after his hatrick (1 of 2 he has against Cheltenham) tough game this though glad Woz is back!

1-1 at half time. Lot to improve on second half, we’ve given the ball away far too cheaply at times Montano being the chief offender there. Equaliser came via an own goal though the ball from Amoo was very good and not sure the defender could do much about it.

Cheltenham look a dangerous team on the break.

Dominating without scoring at home to Salford, 15 shots but only 2 on target, if only we had the highest goal scorer in Europe on our books...

Annoyed with their goal as we really should of taken the lead only to concede ten seconds later after the keeper punted the save downfield!

Slow start but it’s livened up. We are causing them all sorts of issues out wide which we picked up from the win in the cup when we got joy down there but they are dangerous on the break.

Was Burgess with that chance before the goal I think. Hit it more like a backpass to the keeper. Can see that’s not the strongest part of his game. Can’t help thinking today is the type of game we could really have done with a fit Manny Oyeleke.

Needs that engine. Could go either way they’ve seemed vulnerable at the back which contrasts their record so far away!

1-1 should of won really we had enough chances! Decent side Cheltenham so will take the point but need to be putting at least a couple of those away!

I’d say that was just about a fair result. Good point against decent opposition even though there are lots of things we can work on.

Amoo was excellent and full value for man of the match. Monty had a poor game and just reinforces the need for a proper left back in January. Cullen didn’t exactly enhance his case when he came on either.

Enjoyable game. Could of gone either way but we shaded it.
Referee horrific. Biggest laugh was when they had a corner clearly in the triangle yet he walked over to the player , Clements ? Who stood there gobsmacked . Totally inept.

Sign of our progress when I'm disappointed not to have beaten a team who were third .

3 down and we were awful, but dominated after that and feel that we could have got the win.
Bowman now scoring, Nicky Law getting back to his old self and Williams unplayable at times.
Walsall looked tidy in midfield though.
Fighting back like we did shows spirit and keeps us up there. If we can get 3 points against Newport it will have been an excellent return since losing at Bradford in November

Thought we played really well today, but Carlisle were woeful and never looked like they were really in the game. We made a lot of changes after midweek with quite a few key players missing so I wasn't feeling as confident when I saw the side, but as soon as we got the first you knew it should be comfortable.

We'd have scored five or six on another day and it wouldn't have been undeserved.

One of these days, Exeter will give me a heart attack. The most frustrating part is that it took us going 3-0 down to actually start playing football. I'm assuming Wes McDonald was injured, which was why he went off, as he was running the show on the Walsall right. Like Denzel said, beat Newport on Boxing Day, and it sets us up nicely for Colchester & FGR away.

Pathetic, again. Had enough genuine goal scoring opportunities in the first half to win a few games never mind just today, missed the lot and have 0-0 at half time to show for it. Salford changed things second half and we did nothing to counteract that, like for like subs, a tactic that had clearly stalled and another weekend we’ve dropped yet more points.

What I would say also in regards to Cheltenham and has been mentioned; nice to see them try and play the game and not do a Walsall/Oldham/Stevenage etc and chuck themselves to the floor and time waste at every opportunity. It made for a decent game between two decent improving sides.
