Walsall at home. Should be a decent crowd and a decent atmosphere against an old rival of ours. Hopefully we can get a result and keep our unbeaten run at home going!

Bit thin on the ground today with Worrall and Joyce suspended and Worralls replacement Browne Ill.

Left side could be a weakness.

250-300 protesting against ownership at Latics before kick off today, with some from Leyton Orient trust also in attendance.

Fascinatingly, only the keeper Zeus De La Paz has started from the foreign imports. This is in stark contrast to a few weeks ago. Dino Maamria has asserted himself, with signings of veteran campaigners like David Jones and Chris McCann. Results have followed. 1-0 up early.

We have had Cheltenham all over the place, they have been consistently fouling Mansfield the entire half because they were struggling to cope.

Out of nowhere, free header, Cheltenham first chance, goal.

This has been dire, Walsall look poor and we’ve been no better, hugely missing Wozza and Joyce in the middle. If the second half is as bad as the first it’s a 0-0er

Scunthorpe a bit industrial, but ref willing to blow so a bitty half. We had the off chance, one decent move but came a bit quick to Stevens who hit the bar and Scunny in it with a couple of good chances of their own including lovely ball just now before the whistle went that needed clearing off the line. 0-0 seems fair.

Absolutely expect us to get a red in the second half considering the ref seems to be falling for everything Forest Green are doing. That Bernard has gone down screaming 4 different times

They have mostly been fouls though, gone through the back a few times and one of them on Barnard was a chop to his thigh ten seconds after the ball was gone. Mostly yourselves to blame.

I didn't go today because I haven't seen anything that makes me think we are going to get any better (bit of a fair weather fan).

We need to get a proper manager in before we can move forward. This is pointless.

How are Vale losing to Walsall?

I thought they had all the best players in the league?

Oof, another cracker from Scunny and they've been much the better side since our poor pen. Once they stopped fouling and started playing football we've had no answer.

Is this right? FGR game stopped for racism from their fans?

Got a season ticket unfortunately, although I might not bother until he’s gone now.

The sacking needed to happen probably two months ago.

What a win that was, absolutely deserved as well. Red card at the end is so frustrating, referee was looking for any excuse to send one of our players off all day. Means we now have zero CMs for next week, just a RB playing there.

Disgusting if the racism claim is true

Definitely deserved it, but I thought having been card happy first half he held off on similar tackles in the second to avoid the red until it was too late to matter. I reckon it was our pen miss made you realise we were there for the taking and you got on with it and did it well.

Walsall were bad. We were worse. The referee was even worse and should not ref another game this century.

According to their twitter account in their mid week Paint Pot game against Mansfield, they were passing it around like Barcelona at the back, and their goalkeeper was doing turns like Neymar. Good result today Vale, cherry on top of such an amazing week.

Frustrating afternoon against a very poor Walsall team, but we were even worse. Amazed that their number 11 scored because I'm not sure how he's made it as a footballer. Spent most of the time on his arse and didn't seem to be able to control it or even have basic football skills.

Walsall had a plan to basically nick a goal and stifle our threats which they did well. We never got going and we missed our suspended and injured players.

The referee was spectacularly bad. Just wow. I don't think he got a decision right all afternoon, including the sending off, which was just two players challenging. So so poor, he should be immediately demoted and I think he will be.

Turned it on in the second half today. Hit the post and had a couple of near things before two great crosses finished it.
Up to second I think.

We were slow off the mark today. Maybe the 10 day layoff took a while to shake off. Once we got the tempo up in the second half, we looked very dangerous. We showed glimpses of being a decent side in the second half. Our wide men scored, both crackers from outside the box. We switched attack from left to right in the second half, to combat FGR's change in the right defensive position. Gilliead, wide right stepped up with his running, particularly straight and FGR couldn't deal with him. That allowed Eisa, wide left to come inside and get into the game again and he scored a marvellous goal. Definitely one to look out for. Also, he was denied a penalty by an inept ref. Thought the ref was awful and was too happy with his yellow cards. FGR certainly have had drama training for opposing tackles. Haven't seen that for several seasons. More pathetic was the racist abuse directed at our right back. There is no place for that and I hope FGR root out the perpetrator and he receives stiff sentencing. That behaviour is not what I expect from FGR, but I don't blame the club, it is an individual's problem.

FGR could have won the game. There were two bad misses in the first half and a poorly taken penalty early in the second half. Thought the game was a bit scrappy and the ref spoiled it as a spectacle. We were not at our best today, but an away win and a clean sheet will most certainly do. If we keep getting results when we play not too well, that'll be fine to consolidate on a mid-table position entering the New Year. With a good January in terms of player additions, who knows, we may make an effort of challenging those play-offs places.

Mansfield are going to fire Dempster and we're going to get the dreaded new manager bounce next week, I can feel it.
