Basically Raj wrote in the programme that they'd made a contract offer to Challinor 2 weeks ago that Raj says was a fair deal.

After the game on Radio Tees, DC said what is fair to him is "derisory" to him. Challinor then went on saying that the average league 2 boss is on 49k p.a and we've offered him well under that (apparently 39k)

Now we've got an open BEEF that is making no one look good at all. It's a no Brainer to pay Challinor what he wants.

Think under Stormin Norman we offered Askey 35k! Then signed Aspin, Not sure if that was the case a year later when we actually got him or if Aspin got only 35k! Can’t imaging the Dazzler and Flickers being on that now!

Not sure how long Challinor has left on his contract but it will only come back to bite the chairman on the arse. Everyone knows the NL is a pain to get out of and if he backs that up with a solid first season he'll have his admirers, probably already does.

He's contracted for this season and that's it, would've been the Wrexham manager had we not gone up.

I think Raj actually wrote about DCs contract offer in the programme.
Which is as far away from professional as you can get.
If i was DC i would be fuming.
But as ever he will do his best and get on with things.

I hear Podge may be out of favour at Newport.
Would we take him back or possibly Luke James.

Aren’t we restricted to only signing players who have no club - even if they may be available on a free?

I have a sneaky suspicion we might try and sign Amond. Based on absolutely nothing at all mind.
Doesnt strike me as a Garner type of signing. You will probably will end up with a loan from Prem/Champ side who has never kicked a ball in league football.

Sometimes that works but for us it didnt

Yeah I hear ya. The right wing back we got on loan from Villa looks shit hot so hopefully this is one he's got right.

And the defender from Huddersfield.

And the lad from Ipswich.

Great to see us signing players on perms, too.

A few of the Swindon players did look really good yesterday but I hope they're not getting carried away considering they beat a squad that would be about the 10th best in the Conference.

Saw Harry Davis had a right mare for that third goal yesterday. Captain fantastic sure does know what a relegation battle looks like...

What?

Tom Pugh was the one who missed kicked it and put their striker through on goal, not Harry Davis.

Feel sorry for Pugh to be fair, first ever league appearance and he's playing out of position. Didn't do a whole lot wrong until that.

Any Newport fans confident they will be playing us at Rodney Parade on 4th September?

I just booked some very good value train tickets, only to realise this fixture is now 50/50 due to their pitch being relaid :ffs:

Someone on our forum said it's an international weekend - are Cyprus U21s and Grenada playing?

Good question - Cyprus may or may not call up our 2 youngsters. Unsure on Grenada a quick look suggests they're not playing........but I guess there is a chance.

Can the game not be played in Cardiff again?! No game there that weekend!

It has been posted on the Crawley forum that Josh Wright has said on Instagram that, although he is still contracted " to a professional league club" (erm...us...) he is not in contention to play or be involved in a football match.

Apparently, there is a lot more to the story but now is not the time to discuss it.

I've not heard any stories about problems behind the scenes at Crawley but how would ostracising a contracted player help? I've not heard any rumours of rows between the player and the club/staff/other players either.

All a bit strange.

After he left ourselves one of our podcasts got hold of him for an interview.

Not sure how much of it was PR, but he said he never wanted to leave us an that he wanted to end his career here and that Ross Embleton basically forced him out of the door and that had Jobi McAnuff been in charge he'd have probably stayed.

Understandable as we're on his doorstep, where he and all his friends and family live all within a short distance of us in the rich mans parts of Essex.

He'd have been released by ourselves anyway, he isn't dynamic anymore and not the player he was. Still good at popping up with the odd goal from midfield though.

It begins.

Harrogates next 3 games all called off due to a covid outbreak - including their visit to our place next Tuesday.

Won't be the last time this happens to a club this season.

That's our first home league game off.

Nothing they could do about it but it's still frustrating.

Our two players that went off injured against Swindon are in for scans and Cox says neither are looking promising.

This club is just cursed at the moment, the amount of injuries we have had to deal with over the past three seasons is unbelievable.

When you consider the amount of injuries you have had, possibly time to start thinking about what your sports science/strength and conditioning coaches are doing surely?

Should have said I haven't seen any suggestion we won't be able to use the pitch on 4 Sep, it's just that it's the next scheduled EFL game after the pitch will be ready. News about progress comes via our landlord the WRU, but all indications are it has gone fine.

If we win at Ipswich tonight and get a home draw, presumably we'll play that before Orient.
