I'm assuming the AJ Bell stadium name is a nod to Andy Bell, he of the Youinvest financial platform?

Fair play, a ground swap is really imaginative. The rules appeared to be changed on the quiet a couple of years ago after our pitch first started causing grief. It used to be that you could share with two clubs but not two sports, now it's with one club only.

Salford's ground might be the worst located ground in the FL, no matter where they move it will be better.
I wouldn’t be so sure. I’ve been to a lot of matches there and though the AJ Bell is a better ground it is in a crap location itself. Traffic at weekends or in the run up to Christmas around there is awful due to the Trafford centre and public transport links are pretty poor. The nearest train station at Patricroft is miles away and there’s not a lot around the ground in terms of pubs. Certainly not enough nearby to sustain say 3,000 away fans. There are plans to extend the Metrolink out there but that’ll take years if happens at all. They’d be better just fucking off back to the North West Counties league and Moor Lane will be reyt.

Lewis Young has officially announced his retirement due to injury. He will now be first team coach at Crawley. To be fair that's what he has been doing for a while anyway.

He doesn't say exactly what the injury was/is. He did say it occurred when jumping for an innocuous header and when he landed he was partially paralysed!

Fixed now but no longer allowed to play.

Our CEO Henry Staelens has been named CEO of the year at the Football Business Awards. We seem to do pretty well in attracting sponsors so he’s obviously doing something right. One of the few members of our board not involved at Ecotricity.

The EFL do occasionally get things right!

Statement just issued by Rochdale FC, copied and pasted:

"
The EFL has issued the following statement...

On 16 August 2021, in accordance with its Regulations, the EFL issued notice to multiple individuals of the commencement of disciplinary investigations in respect to the acquisition of shares in Rochdale Association Football Club.
It is alleged that Morton House MGT acquired Control of the Club, and a number of individuals became Relevant Persons without the prior consent of the EFL in accordance with the Owners’ and Directors’ Test (OADT).
The EFL’s objective was to gather additional evidence as it continued to investigate whether the Club, any Official, any Relevant Person(s) and/or any Persons wishing to acquire Control of the Club complied with the requirements of the OADT and whether any Relevant Person(s) are subject to a Disqualifying Condition.
Having considered the request for information made of them, Morton House MGT, on behalf of its directors, and representatives, has now informed the League that it is formally withdrawing from the approval process and plans to divest the shares acquired in the Club at the earliest opportunity.
Furthermore, Morton House MGT, its directors, and representatives, have confirmed to the League they are refusing to co-operate with the League’s ongoing investigations. Despite these developments, the EFL will be continuing with its disciplinary investigations into this matter and will take the most appropriate action available to it under its Regulations.
More importantly, the EFL will continue to work with Rochdale AFC as we collectively seek to ensure a successful and sustainable long-term future for the Club and all those associated with it, particularly its players, staff, and supporters."

Pity I can't go to Northampton. I suspect there will be a party in the away end even if we lose...

This is absolutely fantastic news for our club. These people shouldn't be anywhere near owning a football club; let alone one that they have no affiliation towards.

The best thing though is that it's likely that our now disgraced former Director & CEO David Bottomley (who I have been strongly against for several years due to his two faced attitude) will be charged for his part in all this.

All the football world needs to remember his name, and avoid him like the plague.

Win lose or draw today; there will be huge celebrations in Rochdale.

Why do owners need to have an affiliation towards a club?
Ours is a Chelsea fan from Jordan, but has wiped out much of our debts and built a new training ground

Have a look at the background information on these "characters" and the links with one of them at Swindon .

It's not as though Rochdale is an automatic choice for an Essex chap who by his own admission thinks we are all "nancy boys" to invest his money in. The EFL obviously agree, and are taking action against "several individuals" over this.

Hopefully, our disgraced ex CEO will be in the firing line, and will be prosecuted for encouraging them and hoping to gain financially out of brokering the deal .

The new chairman and CEO are today taking part in a walking football competition in memory of Alan McLoughlin. The new guys are certainly making the right noises in the community so far.
In his short spell at Rochdale at the end of his playing career, Alan McLoughlin played very well, and his skill and experience helped us to the playoffs that season.

Hope the walking football event goes well.

Our strategy of hugely overspending causing the club to now underspend worked a treat, I wonder when Mansfield will swallow the bullet like we have been forced too.

Thing are alright on the pitch for us at present but questions are being asked behind the scenes yet again. In the last few weeks we've lost our GK coach, assistant manager (albeit to Chelsea and Everton) and now Buster, the physio (massive Pools fan as well) has resigned. Lots of speculation about it but the official lines are 'business and personal reasons'. Matchday staff have been packing it in as well...

Then you have Challinor coming out and criticising the owner over contract negotiations. Something not quite right? Time will tell but we need to give DC what he wants or at least close to it or things might unravel.

Any Salford fans on here. What was Hladky like? 5 games in and all that but we’ve had our pants pulled down. Possibly the worst keeper I’ve ever seen at Portman Road. No idea what we paid for him but he looks like he’s won a competition to play for us

Not a Salford fan, but he was thought the best keeper in L2 last season, though Orient fans might disagree.

Asking for a Salford fan is like asking for a steak and kidney pie at FGR.

Anything but a Salford fan, but he seemed formidable against us - definitely the best or second-best keeper in L2 last season
