Asking for a Salford fan is like asking for a steak and kidney pie at FGR.
Thought it was a long shot!
Anything but a Salford fan, but he seemed formidable against us - definitely the best or second-best keeper in L2 last season
I’ve heard that. He played well in Scotland before that by all accounts. He doesn’t look like a keeper. Maybe he’ll come good given time

We’ve been given a suspended 3 points deduction for The Slug not paying June wages. Thank God he’s gone!

Think that’s a common sense solution to be honest now he has thankfully gone from your club. Realistically not paying wages won’t be an issue going forward for Swindon so really the deduction will never see the light of day.

Yes. He’s always been dodgy. From day one plenty knew he was a wrong ‘un. His business past was always a good indicator of what to expect in the future. Some turned a blind eye to be sure.

As I understand it Swindon’s new owner paid the outstanding wages in full on taking over. If it was still outstanding then fine throw the book at them but given that it seems harsh to punish the new regime too much when it should not have fallen on them to pay it in the first place.

The EFL’s bigger priority should be making sure he or others like him don’t get their hands on another club in the future.

Yep. Paid HMRC and the Council as well. There’s plenty of clubs screwed over by owners and, no doubt, others in a similar position now - but nobody knows about it yet. Lots of laundry being washed.

From the club that gave us Maxwell, Herd and Kassam, all clean as a whistle I suppose?

Like that's the only financial irregularities involving Swindon.................
An owner not bothering to pay one month’s wages isn’t any kind of ‘irregularity’. It’s an owner being a twat. We got demoted in 1990 so that’s hardly ‘getting away with it again’ - especially when Spurs were charged with the exact same offence and got fined.

All clubs are at it as you well know. Your present incumbent was involved with some financial trickery at Reading.

My point is, and I'm sure you know it Dan, that Swindon have been involved in financial irregularities for decades, and the non payment of wages is just the tip of an enormous iceberg, and some of it is still to be revealed. You may be a Swindon fan, but I think you're sensible enough not to try denying that.

As for"our present incumbent," if you mean Tiger, he's no longer the biggest shareholder, and will soon be removed completely from the board. We're as clean as can be for a football club in this day and age.

As far as you know.

That’s my point. Nobody knows what’s really going on until the shit hits the fan. Derby, Wendies etc are all at it - but they are doing it for footballing reasons. At the lower end, owners are doing it for themselves. Fans are happy and ask no questions as long as their team is doing OK on the pitch.

You couldn’t help being owned by Capn’ Bob and Kassam any more than we could with Power. It’s not the clubs, per se, that are the problem, it’s the owners.

Always has been, always will be.

I assume that he doesn't need to be subject to the fit and proper test as he's buying a small stake?

Rochdale do seem to be a magnet for some really nasty people unfortunately.

I believe that to be the case, which I’m sure he is also very aware of.

Red flag right away.

Our forum is worth a read if you want to know just how stupid the "taking the knee is Marxist propaganda" crowd can be.

I don’t know if it’s the same as other clubs but that whole issue some seem to express with the knee seems to be a case of a handful of empty vessels making the most noise. If you read a certain Vale Facebook page you would think our fan base were full of mouth-breathing right wingers but at the last home game the players did it and rather than a huge wave of anger the vast majority of the crowd applauded them.

Herd?

I'll give you Maxwell and Kassam, but Robin Herd wasn't any kind of crook.
From Wikipedia during Herds tenure 'The club had hoped to move into the new stadium near the Blackbird Leys housing estate by the start of the 1998–99 season, but construction was suspended during the preceding season, because construction company Taylor Woodrow had not been paid for the work already undertaken.'

Yeah, he ran out of money. He was incompetent, but not a shyster like Kassam or Captain Bob.

Not the first, or last, football club Chairman to underestimate the cost of building a new stadium.

We still have an uncomfortable minority who boo when the players take the knee. We also have an uncomfortable minority of thick racists. There may be a link.

I watched the England Women's game last night, to say that the crowd were noisy in support of the players (from both teams) taking the knee is a bit of an understatement, even on the telly it came across as a cacophony of noise...certainly more enthusiastic than the backing it gets in the men's game...but to be fair, the women's game in England is well ahead of the men's when it comes to inclusivity and respect.

We have gone to both teams standing together against discrimination, of any kind, rather than taking the knee this season...most fans, but not all, seem to support this approach. However I did hear one bloke sat near me bumping his gums about not being willing to support the Marxist propaganda that some have associated with the BLM movement...OK, that is fine, I get it, that is your opinion...when I applaud the team I am thanking them for making a stand against all forms of discrimination.
