In further news Yems has been given a 3 match touchline ban and fined £2500 after being sent off versus Hartlepool. He misses the game v Scunthorpe, Port Vale and one more.

He kicked off because he believed Bogle should have been sent off before he scored the only goal in that game. He then apologised but repeated he thought the ref was a clown in interviews. I was at the wrong angle to judge the foul but from the reaction of the players (including Bogle himself) he definetly caught our player.

Was he right or wrong? Don't know but how much grief would he give one of his players who serially abused refs and missed games for it? Also, the club put out a press release deploying the abuse of match day staff at a recent game. Pot/Kettle?

FWIW I think Bogle was very lucky to remain on the pitch but those are the breaks sometimes, Yems only has himself to blame for being a prize gobshite.

Finally, the purchase of the County Ground is to get the green light this month. The council and the Joint Venture - the club and the Supporters Trust - have agreed a price of £2.3m.

£22.5m will be ploughed into redeveloping the ground starting with the open terrace - probably just sticking a roof on it and general revamp so it will be much like Pompey’s away end.

£1.5m will go on executive boxes in the side stand and the bulk of the money on a brand new Town End, incorporating hotel/conference centre. These are the timescales which, if not adhered to, the council can reclaim the freehold.

Is there much income from hotels at football clubs? Obviously the last 2 years are not useful in telling a story but Blackpool and Bolton have hotels on site so it would be interesting to see how much money they bring into their clubs.

£20 million quid sounds a lot for the Town End, what capacity is that likely to go for? I'm also assuming safe standing is likely to be utilised? Fwiw the stand at Peterborough with medical and education centre underneath it cost 9.5 million and has 2,500 seats.

Seems weird promoting a beer stall at a place which is notoriously difficult to reach by public transport.

I think the average cost per seat when building a new stand is about £3-4k. I think the Arkells and DRS are both 5,000 seaters. A new TE with a similar capacity would cost around £15m of the £20m allocated for that part of the redevelopment. That would put the new capacity at about 18,000 which is enough.

I’m surprised the purchase includes the grassy bit between the DRS and the Magic Roundabout - a real bonus! Obviously the existing car park would be swallowed up by the new TE structure.

Anyhow, at long last the club are motoring into the future.

Clearly for the near future the owners see us at the CG rather than going all guns blazing on a new stadium. I think this is the right thing the do. Whilst the ground is clearly tired, it's location is nigh on perfect for a football stadium and bringing in other facilities for income is definitely the way forward. And I think the spend on the stands mentioned make sense. Spend a little bit on the Stratton Bank, use that purely as an away stand and then we get all of the Arkells for our supporters.

Looking forward to seeing what is planned for the Town End, as that appears to be the major investment. As you say, it's great to see some kind of ambition being shown. I assume the P.A system is going to be ripped out and replaced at some stage, it's been bloody awful for years!

Build a proper stand at the Stratton Bank, would make it less of a wind tunnel ;-)

Haha, we need something to be synonymous with the CG and the 'famous' wind tunnel should stay, along with the Rolex clock! (Unique in football apparently)

Seriously though we are spending 1 million on that stand so I suspect it will be to try and put in some kind of facilities and bung a roof on it. It will be a lipstick on a pig kind of job, of that I am sure!!

What did the Swindon fans think of our refurbished away end? It seems like a big improvement right?
