I'm in favour of 3 up 3 down. No other league in the pyramid has less than 3 it just doesn't make any sense. If Premier League allow three up from the EFL then EFL should allow the same for the NL.

The clubs that would never (outside of extraordinary circumstances) be in risk of dropping to the 5th tier have no reason to be against it, and I reckon clubs like mine who have been there will be in favour: it's not going down that's the long-term problem, it's coming back. The bottleneck need removing.

I see what your saying and i agree! as i said before i am in favour of 3 up 3 down but to say there are clubs not at risk is a little bit silly, every team in our league and the league above are at risk, you only have to look to Rochdale last year L1 next year barring a miracle NL. And if i'm not mistaken Scunthorpe were in the championship not long ago, look where they are now, nobody knows whats around the corner it could be worse than relegation ie Bury and Macc but lets hope that scenario does'nt play out for any of us.

I also agree with 3 up 3 down however there is no way 75% of League 2 clubs will vote for it so it will never happen.

But it would prevent one of Notts County or Wrexham from fucking up the play offs which I would laugh me cock off.

It will happen and it’s due to the difference between the premier league and championship.

The FA are also involved too, was a decent article in the “athletic” about it (a very good subscription if anyone wishes to look it up)

In short the EFL are trying to get more scraps off the table from the PL and the latter is saying if you don’t sort out the issue with L2/NL you get fuck all.

Probably not next season but i’d imagine the season after, i’m all for it (as i was when i’m the conference)

Sad news for Olly Lee and Gillingham a he has been forced to retire due to psoriatic arthritis and other related conditions. Technically a wonderful midfield player on his day and was a big player for us in our promotion from this level not that long ago. His goal from his own half against Cambridge lives long in the memory.

Hope he’s got a good support group around him because must be tough to go from being an extremely fit footballer to having a condition which will limit him further into life.

Yeah really sad news, we had high hopes for him in pre-season and then things went quiet with a few hints as to why he wasn’t able to play which suggested it was medical rather than an injury. He has been involved in coaching recently so hopefully he can further his career in that area, but honestly it must be devastating for him. Extremely highly thought of here and everyone wishes him all the best.

3 up 3 down will happen and I’m all for it, it just won’t happen this season so Wrexham will have to suffer another year down there as long as Notts County don’t crumble

I'm all for 3 up 3 down, I'd be disappointed if we were to vote against it. We called for it as a Conference club and then again during the PPG season as reforms that would have enabled us to remain in the EFL. To vote against it now would be incredibly self serving and against what's good for the whole.

Also in favour of 3/3 but I think it should be standardised across all EFL divisions so League One has to fall in line as well.

True. Anyone know why it is 4 up 4 down between L1 and 2?

3/3 Prem / Champ
3/3 Champ / L1
4/4 L1 / L2
2/2 L2 / NL

So L2 is the easiest to get promoted out of and hardest to get relegated out of.

Surely it would make sense for it to be 3up 3down between all divisions.

It’s a remnant from when you had Division 3 North/South, where two would be promoted from and two relegated in to each season I believe

Actually only one team was promoted from each regional third division. The reason it was four is that four teams had to apply for re-election (two north, two south).

In the 1930’s the FL was set up as 22,22,22,22 with only two relegation spots from Div1 and Div 2 and two re-election spots for Div3 N&S.
In the early 50’s it went to 22,22,24,24 when four extra teams were added, so when the fourth division was made in late 50’s they made it that the 20th place in the league was safe from relegation or re-election like it always had been.

This meant four down now from Div3 and still four re-election places for Div4. That meant that Div four had to have four promotions.

You are going to ask now, what is it three up and down higher up the pyramid.

It changed from 22&22 teams in first and second tiers to 20 and 24 teams and in order to get it through they had to give the second tier a bonus of a third promotion spot. This lead to complaints further down the pyramid that only two were being relegated from a 24 team division so they agreed to three down but that meant a third promotion place for tier three.

Sadly I don't think it's 'that' Greg Norman!

160k profit helped by our FA Cup run to a televised third round tie with Man City. Without that we'd have made a loss. Positive signs though, the year before under lethal Lee we made a loss of 1.1 million

And going on from that, debt is now down from that £4.3m to £1m. The purchase of the CG will reduce rent.

Just need for things to pick up a bit on the pitch and things are looking rosy.

It's great that, at last, the fans are being made aware of the finances after all the years of cloak and dagger antics. As you say, sort out the results and things can only get better.

That last year under Power when he was planning his exit he sold off anything that would turn a buck. He got rid of a huge number of club staff, no doubt pocketing their wages. He really is a nasty piece of work. So glad he fucked up the sale of the club - getting £215,000 instead of the £7m he was offered.

Was the club self sufficient in that last year?

Nah. The previous year’s accounts showed a loss of about £1.3m. The latest set the club made a profit of £160,000. Turnover was hugely increased as fans returned and got reconnected to the club after being butt fucked by Power for years. It’s the age old story of clubs being ruined by dodgy owners.

You must be grateful for your owners but fans soon forget and take it for granted. It soon reverts to moans and groans about progress - of a lack thereof.
