Urban; I don't recall Connelly wiping out Akinde specifically but I presume it was when he got booked??? I am surprised that you didn't mention your right winger being floored by Mark Randall with a deliberate forearm smash. It was right in front of the linesman who did what a linesman normally does in such instances....nowt.

Following this weeks Q&A session with our Chairman, he has made it quite clear that there is no urgency to get a new Manager or bring in any players. He has also stated that when/if we are relegated we are in a better position this time for a immediate promotion push(joke). On the plus side, when all works at the Hive are completed, we will have the best facilities in Non-League football. Bhoy, have we got a lot to look forward to.

There is definitely still a law against it, but referees only seem to enforce it if it is a clear attempt at time-wasting, and even then only half-heartedly. If Cheltenham weren't protesting about how long he was holding it for then he may not have seen any point in awarding it. Teams should protest though as they'd end up with an indirect free kick in the penalty area and if that started happening then keepers would soon cut this shit out.

EDIT: Just looked at it myself, yeah I make it 14 seconds between getting and releasing the ball, and Cheltenham look to have been threatening at the time so clearly he wanted to take some of the impetus out of the game, should have been penalised IMHO but then the Cheltenham players don't seem especially arsed so the referee probably felt he didn't need to make a decision. Not all laws of the game have to be followed to the letter and the referee may have felt that there was no reason to stop play for a minor infringement which the players seemed content to let slide.

There are a few areas where the letter of the law and the spirit of the law couldn't be clearer, such as whether a ball crosses the line, foul and abusive language, a second yellow always resulting in a red. etc. but then also a lot of things which are the referee's discretion whether to act on a law. 14 is a bit too much though.

Definitely make it 18 myself though: http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11206940/cheltenham-0-2-accrington

On that particular video he picks the ball up at 1:16 and then doesn't kick it out of his hands until 1:34. I know what you're saying about the lack of care from the Cheltenham players though, did make me wonder if something else had been going on elsewhere as there's no moaning from the crowd or anything. Just seemed a bit bizarre. I knew the old six second rule had never lasted but three times that just seemed a little extreme.

In fairness, they had been time-wasting from the moment they took the lead. Is it me or this becoming more of a thing now? I include Cheltenham in this as well, whereby teams take the lead relatively early in the game and then they suddenly almost grind to a halt when it comes to doing anything.

In this particular case, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and, to be frank, it doesn't make up at all for the complete ineptitude in defence that followed the goal kick.

Becoming more of a thing is the correct answer, sadly. Seems to me that everybody's doing it, especially the away sides.

Yeah he got booked for it - Akinde was running down the wing and Connelly took him straight out, nowhere near the ball and way too fast/strong. Was definitely a revenge tackle because he felt Akinde had 'elbowed' his mate.

Didn't see the Randall incident - I was in the seating so it was right diagonally on the other side of the pitch. Everyone seemed outraged at it - Crawley that it had been given and Barnet that it wasn't punished more!

It's all just a really disappointing mess. The Hive gives people the impression that we're a club going places but really behind the scenes we're an almighty mess. There's so much more that could potentially go wrong too - this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Re the time wasting I agree it seems every club in this division does it, Newport had a free kick near the end yesterday and 3 players all walked up one at a time as if to take it but then walked away and one then rolled it bit back a little for the keeper to take it instead, getting a yellow for his troubles.
Also in injury time one of their players went down holding his face after a nothing challenge, then on seeing the ref had give the free kick to us instead he quickly jumped up and his injured face was miraculously repaired as he ran back to defend.
Dembele for us is a bugger for it too though, he does get fouled a lot given his skill but he also play acts quite frequently too.

Yeovil were dreadful for it Saturday... keeper was timewasting from the minute the scored (12th!). Kicking the ball away. They had a guy go down injured, refuse treatment for a bit then let them on... frustrating paying ££ to watch teams do it. Just play the game! Oddly it probably caught up with them in the end as we were so poor and equalised late on they’d disrupted the game so much they could never get back to the dominance they had and try and push for the winner again.

I think that's what grates the most. If it's the last 5-10 mins or so, whilst I wouldn't like it, I understand it. But from the 20th minute or so (when Accy scored) just kills the game as a spectacle. Lower league football is difficult enough to sell without making it unwatchable.

It made me laugh when your fans booed our team huddle before the kick off. We were hardly time-wasting as the ref hadn't blow the first whistle!

It was just to disrupt, you did it on the centre spot where our lads were waiting to start and was clearly a tactic to unsettle... although Kay joined in to listen which was funny. Teams do it, we've done it in the past but not right on kick off and not for that long! the referee had to pull it apart second half.

A Quick "Come on Lads" is one thing... a full on team talk for about 45 seconds is something else.

Nothing wrong with it IMHO. It's been good for team spirit recently. Mind you your fans didn't need any more encouragement as far as booing was concerned!

We're good at unintentional time wasting, we take ages at throw ins/goal kicks etc even when we're losing in the last minute (which we usually are).

On Saturday 1-0 down and we made a sub in the 89th minute switching a lb (the furthest away player) for another lb!

Jamille Matt's red card against Newport has been overturned on appeal, I think that's the first time I can ever remember us having a successful appeal.

Thought at the time it was for nothing and pleased for him as he's surely gotta start at Colchester, we looked much more threatening with him on as sub on Saturday and if Slade keeps the same team that started that with Vernon and Woolford starting then he'll just be bringing his P45 on that bit earlier.

Have you changed your mind again Fish regarding Slade? Last time we spoke he was in your good books again (having previously crucified him on here early season). What's the latest my fickle fishy friend?

Haha been waiting for you to reappear. :2thumb:

Well after seemingly learning his lesson he's reverted back to his old ways of playing OAP's who can't run or pass, talking complete bollocks in every interview and playing a style to send everybody to sleep with virtually no attacking intent whatsoever at home against such heavyweight teams as Accrington Morecambe and Newport.

His latest interview he talks about still making the play offs  and said we were the better side on Saturday, I was there, we were lucky to not lose by 3 or 4.

In short, Slade can fuck off and take his boring 2 shots a game hoofbball with him.

I won't be changing my mind again, before you ask. :bg:

Very fair answer, noted.

Oh the fun I could have if you go on a 15 match winning run :bg:

I would happily take all the shit off you if that happened, I'd settle for a 1 game winning run to be honest. :bg1:

Stevenage away this weekend. Clint Hill still won't be available due to personal reasons, Cosgrove might play. I think we'll get a tonking against a good attacking team, 4-1.

General question regarding this - do subs have to go over to the bench to come off? Can't they just walk off the pitch on their own side and walk round to save time?

County playing Crawley tonight. Should be a decent crowd with it being a condition for Spurs tickets. On paper we seem to have recruited well so far this month - Hayes can play at long last, Sheehan and Reid in from Swansea, Collins back from Wolves and this lad from Cambridge. Much stronger squad, hope they can deliver.
Crawley in good form too so should be a good game, under lights on a cold winter evening - can’t beat it.

We've got Chesterfield at home tomorrow, should be a bigger crowd than usual as the next tier of Man Utd tickets is for people with a stub for this game.

Having said that apparently there are hardly any tickets left for the cup game anyway.

We've done ok recently, only lost 3 in 12 which is good for us. It could be Otis Khan's last game for us as we've had several bids for him which have triggered his release clause (no idea what it is but knowing our board it's probably a multipack of Quavers and a can of Fanta). Luton are the favourites to sign him.

Just seen our team tonight. I'm never positive anyway but no Bulman means our midfield is a bit light.

Oh, another game we start without a striker on the pitch. I'm beginning to think we're tories. We seem to hate all strikers!

Will gladly take the 3 points tonight but were hanging on at the end. Bossed it first half, 2 up and hit the bar twice and should have been home and hosed. Then a goalie howler gives Crawley some hope early in the second half but Crawley didn’t create much in fairness, v weak up top and not sure what was going on with their keeper - was shocking on the ball.
Still, gave some game time to the new lads and rested Labadie and Dolan for Spurs who were both badly missed.
