We will almost certainly be in a relegation scrap next season. They talk of trimming the squad of deadwood and signing higher calibre players. The man has made one good signing for us and the majority of our shit players are his. He'll be gone by October when struggle to get out the bottom 2 and the great cycle will continue.

Time for Jones to put his money where his mouth is and throw Famewo into the fray and restore Rea to defensive mid field. Give the kid a run. You've said we're a squad thats capable and he can slot in. Nows the time - you may save yourself 400k. No Cuthbert or Sheehan, we're playing well again, so it wasnt a form wobble versus Vale - just a one off poor result/performance and we're basically twelve points clear of the auto spots.

Get him in. He wont disappoint.

We can then spend the 400k on a Pelly, Cook, D'Ath, Gambin (although I like him) replacement as two are probably off

Chairman has confirmed that McGhee has moved upstairs to a "Technical Director" role and will be responsible for appointing a new Head Coach.

So a failed manager is going to be our new manager's boss. Didn't York try something similar? Look where they are now...

This club is a mess. I've completely lost respect for a chairman I respected for many years.

We're going down and won't be back for a while. Shambles.

Didn’t your old manager go upstairs? Strange one!

He did. There's a truckload of coaches upstairs now, so much so that the chairman has announced that he's going to put an organisation structure chart on the website soon. In his mind that's something to be proud of.

I wonder what that will look like. I imagine that Edgar Davids and Tony Cottee will both be on it somewhere, along with several earlier incarnations of Martin Allen.

Well us Cov fans did warn you about the appointment of Slade, dreadful football, dreadful signings and overall not a clue about anything. He left us with a win rate of 6%, surely that's a record low

CARLISLE v CREWE chat in here please. We've recently discovered a correlation between games in which we start a match thread and games which we fail to turn up at. I think it might be down to sabotage by GTFCfish but nevertheless, can't be too careful.

How he still has a job is beyond me. Guy is an idiot. Always seems to keep getting jobs though.

I think we're well aware now how terrible he is but were happy to sit and count down the days until he gets the boot. While continuity is a good thing, the fact the board have chosen Russ to be the one that gets the backing will be our downfall. Let's remember that Fenty targeted him ffs, this was the masterplan and it's going to see us relegated again. I don't know if another manager coming in in November will be able to amend what is going to be two terrible transfer windows and I dread to think what would happen to this club if we end up back in non league, especially so quickly.

TK has confirmed that a new head coach won't be appointed for several weeks, leaving us with McGhee for the time being to manage the team and lead the transfer window.

No sense of urgency whatsoever. We're down.

Because of our cup draws we now find ourselves in the middle of a run of 9 games where 8 are at home. We've got 7 home matches in January and starting next Saturday 5 home games in 14 days.

I've never known such a run, anyone else seen similar?

In one of our conference seasons, we managed to have 1 home game in 10 weeks or something silly.

At least 58 games for us this season. If (obviously a big if) we reach the final of the Checkatrade that would bring up the big 6-0.

I think you should be applauded for this venture, your club seems to be developing a rest home for old people including former managers, succeeding where social care has failed...can I send you my elderly parents!

Do you remember that season where teams were playing Tuesday Thursday Saturday some weeks due to all the Winter postponements and due to all the rearranged games due to the Mickey Mouse Trophy?

I remember Hurst having to put the reserves out away at Dartford on a Thursday night because of it and we lost 1-0.

Ahh the good old National League........

The 2 players we signed on loan start today which is just as well or we'd have had just 3 subs today. :ohm:

Fuckinghell. :dis:

First 15 mins was so much better, we completely dominated but without creating anything but looked really good and sharp.

Then Newport score (keeper beaten at his near post but a good strike anyway) and since then we've been horrific, can't string 2 passes together and cleared 3 more Newport shots off the line, 2 of them in the same passage of play.

Added to that our keeper is now a nervous wreck who won't come off his line after he came for a cross and completely missed it and got really lucky that we cleared the scramble that followed.

So after a positive start from us, Newport really should be out of sight now.

Big second 45 coming up, we really could do with a break.

Oh one positive, Vernam from Derby looks absolute class, too good for this shite.

Jake Kean is absolutely horrific.
