Everybody thinks we were right shit in that season but we ended up with 30 points. There’s loads of clubs who’ve got nowhere 30 points in the PL.

You were very entertaining that season and porous. I remember the Swindon side of around that era and they were very good.

Which end were you in?

That was best footballing day of my life , Super Tommy Johnson running riot in front of 59,000.

The Swindon Vs Leicester match was one for the playoff final greats.
Brighton.

I managed to get to five games at the old Wembley...including that one, the all Sheffield Cup Semi-Final and a 5-0 win for England against Turkey.

Although I was too young to witness our greatest era my introduction to Notts just predated Warnock's arrival which couldn't have been much better.

Saw the incredible leap from 3rd Division to the 1st division via back to back trips to Wembley stadium and at the best age to do it as a footy fan.

Even following Warnock's departure like Fishy mentioned regularly saw us beat the likes of Leicester, Derby, Wolves, West Brom, Sunderland, Birmingham in front of a packed out Kop in the mid 90s. It's been pretty much a downward slide with the odd upward spike (promotion) since. We used to regularly upset the big boys then we were struggling to beat Maidenhead and deservedly losing to Bromley.

As we know not every club's supporters have those fond amazing memories of being a very good to look back on.

Maybe they will have that golden period in the future. You never know.

I'm just glad and very fortunate I've well and truly ticked that box and can say I was there when Notts played Manchester United for the season opener in the top flight at Old Trafford. Typing those words now seems unbelievable, and something that will never happen again.
Well I think I saw your team when they were in another slump. 16th December 1961 was my first ever professional match at Ashton Gate between City & Notts. That day an 18year old Tony Hately and I believe a very young Jeff Astle was in your side. City won 6 Nil.

Brighton had big support that day but we deservedly won. It was truly magical as a 12 year old fan.

There's been many slumps

I'd they had Hateley and Astley in the side then good times were surely just around the corner. I'm told both top players and great careers.

I wasn’t in the UK from 2003-13 and 2019-23 so missed di Canio’s circus and Covid decimated Wellens’ great season. Struggling to remember exciting times. Hated McMahon with a passion.

I'll just leave this here. MK supporters accuse us of abandoning the club but we only walked away when we were told there was no right of appeal.

Thanks. I don't do twitter so hadn't seen that.
It is all fake news on there anyway as that tweet said it should have been fixed by 10th and it’s now 12th and we are still without. I have heard AFC Russian bots are responsible.

Our club owner is in the news at the moment and it isn't a good look:

They've had to go trawling for that and it's not even in the same ballpark as that slimy Tory prick they're looking to deflect from. Wrong as he is, it's a political view, not just some bare-faced racist bile.

Agreed that they have dug deep although, given his welcoming of a representative from the Palestinian Authority to our ground and flying their flag above it on match days, it was probably inevitable that it would become more public at some stage...albeit being used in reaction to that vile twat who has been piling his billions into the Tories. Only time will tell whether there is any more fall out from this or the views of the club owner have an impact on the club itself.

Can't see it other than perhaps behind the scenes with us not getting favours or leeway from the types who find him objectionable.

Wonder if that flag will be flown ever again now that flying the flag is being considered a crime by the government.
Besides WTF is it raised during a football match inside deepest Gloucestershire.

He flew the real Palestinian flag for quite a while, it then disappeared for some unknown reason, only to be replaced in the last month or so with one that looks like it but with the dark green swapped for a lighter green to match our club colours.

Fair to say that opinions are divided on the flag amongst fans, personally I would rather not mix the personal politics of the owner with the club (someone is bound to defend him and say that it is his club and it comes with the territory, if you don't like it...tough... or words like that), I think it is a divisive symbol whichever way you look at it and shouldn't be flown above a football ground where all should feel welcome, regardless of their background.

I don't think it should be there as his personal bully pulpit either, whereas when the Green Brigade wanted to do a massive tifo as they did good luck to them, so not exactly no politics at football, just not in the way DV does. Bottom up, not top down (ooeer).

I heard a few negative comments the other week about the advert for his book, accompanied by a comment about the Tories, being the top news item on our website the other week...when, from memory, we had just won our first league game in ages.

If you are talking about the club from the East end of Glasgow, the club were fined for breaching a FIFA directive regarding displaying national flags, somewhat ironic that we have a club who are doing it and seemingly getting off without any action being taken against them.

Unfortunately our club has been shedding fans at an alarming rate in the last year or so, I don't think Dale is doing anything to make it a more welcoming place...which for many may be a contributory factor in them stopping attending games.

Pragmatic solution. Probably still wider than Salford's pitch, too
