There may actually be some truth in the suggestion that Nolan gets better treatment from refs...who would have imagined it...?

100% there is. Would love to see the stat for the amount of red cards given against the opposition as well. Fair few. County will drop like a stone now.

I do seem to recall one instance of Notts getting a soft penno, though I can't recall which game it was except that it was late August or early Sep, but I could say the same for nearly all L2 sides. I'm sorry but the idea is absurd.

We've had loads of soft pens. It's Jon Stead's best attribute these days, winning then converting them. Long may it continue.

Agombar is right though, it's insane to suggest it's anything to do with Nolan?!

And I assume the soft red card Impish is talking about is when Billy Knott kicked one of our players in the head.

Right. I'll see if I can watch those 6 pens on the YT highlights when I find the time. I'll try to check out the red cards too.

ps- the red card count is easy enough to check. 3 reds for County, 5 for their opponents.

From memory we have had pens against Accrington at home, Colchester (home), Crawley (home), Exeter (home), Swindon (home), Oxford City (home) and Port Vale (home).

Five of those seven at the Kop end. I'd say only the Oxford City one nailed on.

Can't remember the reds, bar Billy Knott's karate kick.

Cheers William. I reckon there is some truth in the soft penalties claim after all.

IMO, I reckon the Swindon and Oxford ones are nailed on, and I'm thinking the Exeter one was the correct call too, though it's not that clear on the highlights. Unsure on the Col U one tbh, and the Accy one looks very very soft. OTOH, the Port Vale and the Crawley ones are definitely not pens.

In short, three were the correct call, one is 50-50, one is very soft and probably not a pen, and two most deffo weren't.

Nolan spoke to the ref, we barely got a decision after that (stonewall not given, perfectly good winner ruled out)
Cowley spoke to him 5 minutes later and was sent off.
As for the Knott karate kick. Ridiculous it was barely above waist high.
Both of our games with Notts have been heavily affected by the referee.
Can't speak for other games, but my viewings suggest Notts are getting a very good rub of the green.

Yeah I'd concur with this, we've had some very soft ones given to us and some very soft ones given against us too, just the nature of League 2 refs I'm afraid they're really not very good.

We've had some luck this season but there's been a couple of stone wall pens not given to us.
As for Nolan influencing the ref at Lincoln, that's bollocks.
Lincoln are not angels, either on the pitch or in the dug outs.

Nope talking about the one where your lad deliberately ducked down and headbutted Billy Knott's foot. Then squealed like a little girl hahahaha the big softie!

We had 2 penalties at NC - one either way, both correct.
Anyway - 2nd ever visit to Chesterfield on 3/2 and this one on a Saturday (hurrah) and coinciding with a beer festival!
Last 10 of our games, won or lost. We're due a draw. I'd be happy with that. Looking forward to a good day out.

Our game against Accrington Stanley next week is set to break the highest league two attendance. 22k gone so far, mostly freebies to kids but the club are expecting 28-30k on the day.

It's a "community day" with a fan village for kids outside the ground from 12 and tickets for adults are a fiver. Very good idea from the club.

Normally, a team winless in 10, while scoring 3 in the process, losing once again would mean an instant sacking for the manager but a second vote of confidence suggest that Russ has a huge safety blank. Think it’s a combination of being Fenty’s mate and also Fenty giving him a huge contract, something that he doesn’t give out to other managers. This isn’t proven but he was very open about Hurst and Bignot’s contracts but has avoided the question every time when asked about Slade.

With regards to the game, we I reckon two of our deadline day signings will start. We’ve been playing 3-5-2 and with Rose and Osborne getting sent off on Tuesday, Suliman will play as the 3rd CB and and we may play 4 in midfield and have Vernam as an attacking mid. I reckon Matt will start with either Simeon Jackson or Mallik Wilks. We have Ben Kilip who is dodgy as fuck in goal but he’s all we’ve got with McKeown injured and Kean a load of shit.

Would be typical Grimsby to win tomorrow and preserve Slade’s job for another fortnight. There’s a protest organised tomorrow, starting in Maccies carpark and making its way to the club carpark. Also apparently some chanting planned at the 14th minute (representing Fenty’s 14 years) but nothing that should affect the game.

I’m expecting us to go 1-0 early, the fans to completely lose it and Harry Pell to do a lap of honour when he scores. Slade left us after Cheltenham last time so hopefully we get a repeat!

Missing a beer festival in Chesterfield tomorrow! My life is a sad sack nowadays.
Harry cool reckons Chesterfield were the best team to visit the Broadfield stadium this season...and then you look at the league position.
There always seems to be a side that's your nemisis. Maybe, maybe not.
Draw, new bloke to start as Roberts is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

We've had three, Carlisle at home Green brought, handball at Stevenage won us the game and our last one was at to Accrington when Green was pulled back but not as badly as two earlier incidents which weren't given maybe cos he got a shot off those times dunno.

You could almost sub in “Derry” for “Slade”, “Paul Barry” for “Fenty”, “Richard Money” for “Hurst” etc and those two paragraphs would apply to us. Except Barry is probably held in higher esteem than Fenty by our fans. But Derry definitely has something on the powers above which makes sacking him impossible and thus we are lumbered with him til the end of the season.

We are playing dull, uninspiring football and have sold/released many players who gave us the “soul” of the club, meaning we are by and large left with an anonymous bunch that fans just can’t warm to (there are probably two or three exceptions.

We have won 3 in 11, and 9 in 31. Whenever we go on a crap run, Derry is given an ultimatum then he produces a run of 3 or 4 good results to preserve his job a little longer. It’s such a typical disheartening cycle that has repeated over his 2 year+ tenure. Derry isn’t out of contract at the end of the season and we are all praying the board don’t give him another contract. We have had a mini protest too which didn’t get off the ground really. So much in common between our situation and Grimsby’s.

The sale of Jones has done for me, I'm afraid. Notwithstanding his poor recent form, which may well be down to being utterly pissed off with the managerial and coaching (or rather non-coaching) regime, he has great potential talent and was our best player. He will do well at Shrewsbury. We have 7 loanees now and even if they scrape 3 or 4 wins to keep us up, next season is nailed on relegation without a new ownership regime. A successful Operation Promotion from the fans, optimism and prospects of a new stadium - to a total shambles in less than 2 years

Next week I'm taking the family to see skill, teamwork and coordination - the Moscow Ballet...

Hats off to Coventry and Notts County for their offers to try and get fans into the ground.

Can only be positive for getting the younger supporters onside and the future fans are the lifeblood of smaller clubs up and down the country.

I liked how the club made it sound even worse by saying he'd scored 12 in 28 appearances which only increased the discontent rather than the 12 in 45 that it really was - perfect timing haha!

the one against us was. But then again, we had a soft pen given for us against FGR on Wednesday. I think it's partly a home team thing.

It’s the crowd rather than Nolan, no surprise they’ve all happened at home.

The particularly dubious decisions that we’ve had go for us this season (pens vs Vale and Colchester, red for Newport) have all followed the same pattern. The ref had given three or four similar 40/60 calls against us in the ten minutes or so before, the Kop (and our players tbf) had been applying more pressure after every one and then eventually the ref subconsciously feels that he has to give one our way.

It’s something you’ll see up and down the country every week and one of the ways that you create a proper home advantage.

Well after a fairly even first half, we were worthy winners after a good second half display. Courtney Senior was exceptional and if it wasn't for Mandron and Guthrie both missing sitters the scoreline ought to have been a little more emphatic.

Game of the day goes to Wycombe though, surely!
