Famous last words, FGR fans can thank me any time for the jinx.

Still stand by it though, times like this you'd still want one of your best players on the pitch.

Cheers for the jinx ;)

Seriously though might be a fitness thing, just back from injury top quality player.

Having fans and no VAR probably helped !

Well there's usually fans and no VAR, but there just seems to have been a lot of twists and comebacks this season - none have really ended up being a foregone conclusion apart from Blackpool.

I think pretty much every second leg has been fast paced and entertaining. Swansea Barnsley probably the only one that wasn't great.

That makes sense, every time have seen him play he has never failed to impress. Love watching him play.

Genuinely can't call this now. Each time you think the pendulum has gone one way then something else happens. These conditions have probably contributed to it. Brilliant game though regardless.

And Bolton being promoted, of course.

That was poor from Maynard, free header like that got to at least work the keeper.

Unbelievable, that is a hell of nut punch for FGR though. Maynard in one moment just repaid Newport loaning him.

This has been absolutely outrageous! Credit both teams, think Newport just about deserve it over the two legs but what a tie it's been.

Was thinking Maynard had looked a liability until then, the fucker! Wasn't going to make it up but boy woke need feeding so saw the mad end. Was surprised we had given it such a good go.

Absolutely ridiculous match in the rain. So harsh on Forest Green to lose it that late on, but what a game from both teams tonight.

Whoever wins the final between Morecambe and Newport, it's going to be one hell of a game and another surprise team joining League 1 next season.

Well done to Newport and bad luck to FGR. Shame there has to be a loser from this tie as both teams have put on a great advert for this division.

Should be a great final with Ellison v Adams.

Well done to Newport.

What a dramatic game with so many twists and turns.

Shame more cannot go to the final.

For something that was supposed to be so easy, Forest Green ain’t half finding it difficult to get promoted from this league.

Hell of a game that - the old fellas did the job. Was about time Maynard made a contribution this season. Great couple of games v FGR. Bizarre comment by Vince pre-game stating he hadn’t missed FGR fans this season - bit of a kick in the bollocks.

That is a shite comment from Vince, what a tosser!

Well done Newport, should be a very close final and can’t really predict who will come out on top. Ellison to score the winning penalty in the shootout maybe?!

Nice to feel appreciated....

That’s why Vince has never been as popular as Trevor Horsley was tbh. Trev was one of us, proper football man and a man of the people. No question Vince has done good things for the club (some less good) but he’ll never connect with fans in the same way or be as popular as he doesn’t quite get it.

A great game in difficult conditions and for Forest Green fans, it must be really difficult to stomach losing a game like that after doing so much to turn things around, plus an ill-judged comment from Vince to boot. The Ellison goal for Newport was class and they edged it over the two legs.

At the risk of upsetting EricSabin, 3 ex-Rovers on the score-sheet in this game in Collins, Ellison and Labadie. When our own scoring capacity has dried up so much recently, have to take what we can vicariously, enjoying old boys goals

Cracking game that.

I’m going for a 4-4 draw in the final, then Ellison missing the decisive penalty and Adams running to the box to celebrate in his face.

He didn't miss the young lady in the white leopard skin fur coat. Principles are flexible it seems.

Probably be justice for Newport to go up with a last minute winner.

Can i say well done to all FGR fans who attended the game for their exemplary behaviour in keeping to the covid rules on mask wearing and distancing, it was a pleasure to see after witnessing the idiots at morcambe who not only let themselves down but the club as well, their behaviour makes you understand why the powers that be are reluctant to let larger numbers back into the stadiums.

Over the two legs i think we were the better team! having said that rovers gave it a hell of a go yesterday but seemed to run out of steam when it really mattered, looks like some fitness issues there that need to be addressed, for us to come back after going 3-0 down shows the character in the team the goal from kevin ellison was probably the goal of the season and the last minute goal from maynard went a long way to repaying the large wage he gets off us, so all in all a great result for us and i am now looking forward to my 5th visit to wembley with newport county.
