Hoping Morecambe win the final as I can see Newport from my house (on a clear day) so that will be a nice easy trip

Nice to feel appreciated....

That’s why Vince has never been as popular as Trevor Horsley was tbh. Trev was one of us, proper football man and a man of the people. No question Vince has done good things for the club (some less good) but he’ll never connect with fans in the same way or be as popular as he doesn’t quite get it.
So, I spent £23 and four hours sat in the cold and wet for a comment like that...oh well, screw Dale, at least the players and manager appreciated us being there.

Us and tranmere let our fans into the home legs free of charge as a thankyou for our loyalty over the last season and a half, can't for the life of me see why vince could'nt do the same for you.

Can i say well done to all FGR fans who attended the game for their exemplary behaviour in keeping to the covid rules on mask wearing and distancing, it was a pleasure to see after witnessing the idiots at morcambe who not only let themselves down but the club as well, their behaviour makes you understand why the powers that be are reluctant to let larger numbers back into the stadiums.
Thank you, and fair play to your team, you just about deserved it over the two legs...some teams would have crumbled in the face of the way we played yesterday. I arrived early for the game, as requested by our club, at precisely the moment the Newport team coach pulled in. The manager jumped off and walked past me towards reception, as he passed I wished him and his team all the best at Wembley should they be victorious (with us chasing a two goal deficit I wasn't that optimistic we would win)...he said "thank you very much, good luck to you too"...after about ten minutes I suspect he thought his team had been jinxed, but alas it was not to be.

That was one of the best games I have seen in several decades of watching live football. Both teams deserve credit for delivering such a spectacle, albeit with a cruel twist at the end for Rovers fans, in such dreadful conditions. No denying that the atmosphere, which wasn't at all shabby, would have been better with a full stadium and some away support. At least we were able to applaud our players after the final whistle, many of whom probably won't be with us next season, unlike the last time we were in the play-offs and the opposition fans invaded our pitch.

To re-iterate what I said to the Newport manager, good luck at Wembley.

Jimmy Ball did something at start of game and 2nd half that had been all but forgotten at TNL. He applauded the fans and geed them up to cheer loudly for the team.
JB did a good job, whether he is appointed manager in the summer remains to be seen but he must be on the very shortlist.

Two good games yesterday.

Not as much needle in the second leg of Morecambe/Tranmere as the first. The former were deserved winners over the two legs IMO. What was the attendance by the way? Looked too many for the restrictions in place? Little distancing going on either!

Crazy game last night in awful conditions. Ellison will get a new contract if they make it to L1 surely!

Yet in L1, the prices were set for us and we all had to charge.

Agreed, there is little doubt that he established a bond with the fans during his time in charge...I can't remember the last time I heard fans sing the managers name in praise, possibly Jim Harvey, but it is a long time ago.

Dale said that five people had been interviewed and the club expected to make an appointment when the outcome of the play-offs was know, as it clearly now is. It would have been difficult not to offer Jimmy the job if we had secured promotion but I'm not sure that he will be in pole position when the announcement is made.

Someone sat near me yesterday mentioned the name of the favourite, though I have no way to check or back up their statement...my memory is like a sieve at the best of times and think the name was Edwards, who works as a coach for the FA...but not certain!

So, Newport fans, how are you coping with the ticket master site? Seems chaotic. Nobody here seems to be able to work out how to get tickets together if you're going with mates or family who aren't season ticket holders.

Could be Andy Edwards?

I think you might be right, Andy Edwards seems to fit the bill...I suspect we may not have to wait too long to find out, given the speed with which the club published the released and retained list. Whoever it is, given the size of the retained list, they probably won't have too much wiggle room to bring in any additions.

I don't care if we have gone down, I need to cling onto laughing at other clubs too, like all the ex league clubs in non league who voted for the season to continue so Sutton could get promoted!

The retained list is virtually the same group of players that FGR ended the season with.
Methinks that the next managerial appointment could be in-house.
Normally a new manager coming in from outside club wants to buy plenty of fresh faces. With so many players retained it leaves little wriggle room for whoever to do so.
Odds towards Jimmy Ball becoming manager has risen.

Not that he actually said it, but we've still got a good fifteen seasons before he's wrong about that compared to our time in the conference.

What Mr Vince did not say that promotion would be immediate. But by golly the club are doing the right thing: two promotion play-offs in three years is a record most clubs, including Grimsby, would envy.
It took FGR three play-offs to be promoted from Conference, so club is only one behind that record.
Patience is a virtue.

He absolutely said it - it's just not what he meant.

He meant 4 promotion places makes it easier than the 2 you get from the Conference. Still, he should have known how his remarks would be taken, especially with FGR now not coming close to promotion in 4 attempts so far.

Yes, that's what I meant, he was just making the obvious point that it's easier to get out of a division with more promotion spots, but being journos that wasn't the pull quote.

What are the allocations allowed?

We're having a little trouble as well.

Slightly different, we're having to ballot the tickets initially, but quite a few are struggling to opt-in ahead of Wednesday.

Looked around twitter and yep, seems to be Rob Edwards that's being strongly linked. Apparently talks initially took place 3 weeks ago so possible a decision has already been made. Might well get news this week.

Bit of a different proposition coaching very talented kids to somewhat clogger journeymen in a rough and tumble league you'd think.

Agreed. Would have preferred an experienced head tbh, however the hope is we can find the next Duff/Bonner as oppose to the next Hockaday.
