Still all to play for but I think Southend are the narrow favourites for that third spot now, taking everything into account. Not going to go on Bury's official forum as it'll be like a suicide watch.

No piss off will you. It's not that we can't take a loss, it's the way in which we lose is infuriating.

Last night we battered Southend first half yet didnt score. They had 15 minutes off pressure and scored straight from a set peice. We then went on to squander 3 golden chances in injury time.

We know we are better than wycombe, Burton even perhaps Shrewsbury but we always let ourselves down and shoot ourselves in the foot.

Doesn't help when we have a moron in charge who gets outwitted against any half decent manager.
Are you the tit gobbing off in the south stand at the end Mick nearly twatted?
If you are he should have done, you are a fecking embarrassment.

There aren't many Bury fans that feel entitlement towards promotion IMO, the only people who can are the supporters of the 3 teams with the most points after 46 games! That being said, for the squad we have, we should be higher up the league in my opinion, but we aren't and that's our own fault.
We lost last night because of missed chances in the first half and a very resolute and well organised Southend team. It isn't over yet, 2 points in it and 6 to play for - stranger things have happened! Although if it ends up being Wycombe who get 3rd, I would definitley not want to have to face Southend again - they didn't look like concededing at all (apart from the one chance in injury time) and we shit ourselves at the pace of Worral when he came on.

I know they have a fantastic record at home and we've been kack for months but I have a feeling we might surprise Southend at the weekend, especially if they think they've done the hard part at Bury.

As long as no one gives "Up The Shakers" anything to smile about I'm happy.

Indeed. I can't believe the entitlement that Bury fans feel towards promotion. They're a good side but there are several equally good or better sides than them - get over it.
Look, I have never said we were entitled to go up but facts don't lie.

Flitcroft has been allowed to spend a lot of money and the biggest problem is his tinkering with the squad. Getting rid of a good goalkeeper to replace him and change his mind three times over the course of a season is not what a team aiming for promotion does. The football we play the majority of the time is good but is sometimes what isn't needed for this league. We've needed a target man all season as (and this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to one) this league is a very physical one and our forwards many times over the season have struggled to cope against larger defences.

I'm a fan of the ethos of football Flitcroft tries and promotes and by watching the first team and even youth sides it's being taught throughout the club but football is a results business, money has been spent and we've most likely blown automatic promotion and our record in the playoffs is that bad I wouldn't go sticking any money on us going up. They might just surprise me but I hate the bloody playoffs.

Our chairman is no mug, he hasn't invested money into Bury Football Club because he is a Dave Whelan or Jack Walker type local boy done good, he wants to make money. I'm quite confident in saying that fifth place wouldn't have been what he expected with the money that's been shelled out.

For what it's worth I thought it was a good game, lads gave their all but the wZy he set his side out was not right. Ah well, fuck it, only a football match.

Southend don't want to leave it to the last day needing a win, not with their somewhat notorious record against Morecambe.

I don't think anyone thinks this is already won. We know we are in for a tough game there is just a good feel going into the game and understandably so considering the form and the 2 very hard away games we've just had which I don't think anyone actually expected us to get 6 points from.

We need to put 2 good halves together - if we play v Southend like we did v Hartlepool for the first 25 minutes we'll be very very competitive. After the break, we fell away and took our foot off the gas - we can't afford to do that v the best teams.

Down to the last day. If Bury win and Southend lose or draw with Morecambe, we will be promoted.

Our 2nd goal today could prove to be very important, now 1 goal better than Southend on GD.

Whatever happens, it has been a decent season, and 82 points is a good achievement.

Playoffs it is (mathematically we could still get auto but no way both Bury and Sarfend will flog it and we win).

Well done Shrewsbury. I'm not that down, I wouldn't have believed you if you told me we'd get playoffs this season so some sense of perspective is handy here.

Agreed mate we were everybody's favourites for relegation. Whatever happens we should look bac k on a remarkable turnaround from last seasons near disaster so congrats to all at the club, the chairman, manager, backroom staff and the fans. We have also won 81 points our highest tally since joining The Football League which would have got us promoted in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Keep the team together and who knows what we can achieve next season. :woo: :bravo:

The title is still up for grabs.

I'm not expecting anything other than a Burton win at Cambridge next Saturday, but you never know.

Get in there!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations Shrews on joining the party.Well deserved.
On a more serious note it was announced on BBC radio Derby today that Colin BIoomfield had lost his battle with cancer aged 33.Don't know if you had heard of him but he was a presenter on the station who covered the Sheep and Brewers over the years, but was a life long fan of the Shrews having been born there.
He passed away this morning in a hospise in Shrewsbury and It was reported that Mickey Mellon visited him earlier on in the week.
I for one hope he will be watching down on us both next Saturday knowing either his home town team or one of his adopted clubs will be champions. May the best team win.

Oh yes we did mate. The players wore tshirts with his name on today. It's a bitter sweet feeling to be honest. Young Lloyd lost his battle with cancer a few days ago whilst Nick Mann died saving his brother after Portsmouth. We've done it for those 3 big Salop fans today.

Southend have to break a record if they want to go up (or hope Bury lose and Wycombe don't win) in 4 previous trips to Morecambe in the league they are all losses. Overall record against Morecambe reads Pld 9, W 0 D 1 L 8. Have actually beaten them, just it was in the FA Cup.

It's so cruel that he was denied just the few more hours needed to see his team promoted. :(

If Wycombe do manage to secure automatic promotion Gareth Ainsworth should be a shoe in for League 2 manager of the season all things considered,
