we apparently had a good goal chalked off tonight which is pretty frustrating!

No apparently about it pal. Terrible decision, it didn't go out and was a perfectly good goal. Very frustrating, onto Saturday we go.

Game over for me as far as Autos are concerned. Lucky to get the three points tonight and then to see Wycombe score a 112th minute penalty you just know it's not gonna be your season.

Sodding Shrewsbury. That was a majorly stressful evening, all in.

Subbed a striker off crocked on 20 minutes, then his replacement got broken 5 minutes later and was subbed in turn. God knows what kind of side we can turn out on Saturday.

We missed 3 gilt edged chances too. Oh well, still in our hands, and AFCW and Morecambe (and maybe even Cobblers by final day) have nothing to play for, although I know that can cut both ways.

Rubbish. Win your game in hand and you are a point behind. You still have a massive chance plus you are on a roll. Keep the faith

I think I heard my heart crack as that Wycombe goal went in.. Gutted!

From joy to despair in minutes.

I agree with T.A., game over... we have won 10 in 12 and are still 4 points behind. What else can we possibly do?!

Beat Southend? Then it's a point behind. Get a grip man. It's hardly insurmountable....

Next Tuesday could be a massive massive game but now looks likely to mean nothing

We have to win all 4 games. I just can't see it. Pompey on Saturday will be a tough test and if we get through that we really need Wycombe to drop points against whoever they're playing?? Then we can worry about Southend and Mr Tango.

There are always twists and turns. You just have to believe until you can't go up then it's the playoffs. Until then have faith! Wycombe may slip up to the team u least expect

Whoever wins that game in hand gets the 3rd spot, I believe momentum may carry whoever wins that into third.

What could've been eh, if only we'd held on for another 10 mins against Morecambe.

Great win for us tonight, 6 points clear of 8th and only 3 games left, we're not there yet but we're in a great position to secure a place in the play-offs. Incredibly fine margins, the late winner on Saturday and our ability to grind out and hold on to the win tonight, the difference between being a point or two above Luton or being 6 ahead of them.

As for the game, first half was comfortable, great strike from Pett to give us the lead, we played some good football in spells and could maybe have been further in front but we didn't really create too many clear cut openings.

Really had to dig deep in the second half as Portsmouth were far better after the break, we got lucky with Westcarr's disallowed goal, didn't think he was offside but was more than happy to see the linesman's flag raised! Wells and Dembele were absolute rocks tonight, Bira MOTM, don't think he lost a header all evening, top notch.

On to Accrington this Saturday, they'll give us a run for our money, certainly no love lost between Westley and Coleman, looking forward to it!

As above. We've taken 4 points from the last 36 and we are still only 3 outside. If we make it, I think we'll go up. Written in the stars?

In all seriousness though - I don't think we will. Due to GD we're gonna have to get 4 points more than Plymouth from these last 3 games or win all 3 and hope Stevenage only get a maximum of 3 points.

Basically, really tough ask. Had to win last night - was made an awful lot harder by Benson being sent off in the first half. I weren't there, mixed reports on whether it was or it wasn't so won't argue too much as I haven't seen it. JS unimpressed though (we should have had a penalty, shock!!)

All in all think we're as good as out of it but nice to still be involved mathematically at this stage. We've had a good season, just a really poor run, lots of factors.

I'm just happy that next year I'll be going to Portsmouth, and not Alfreton.

I find it pretty unbelievable that we are still in with a shout of a playoff place despite being in such shocking form for so long.

I've seen a few people say last night was a good point, which it was really in isolation but in the wider context of the season, I think we really need to win that game with tricky games coming up especially Southend away where I'd be highly surprised if we got anything. I thought it highly unlikely we would make the playoffs before last night now in pretty much certain we won't.

Not too disappointed really, I said before the season started we would finish just outside the playoffs and that looks like it's what will happen.

First of all i'd like to apologise for my post last night but i'd had a few beers and the euphoria of that goal by Paul Hayes obviously got to me. The reason there was 12 minutes added on was injuries to 3 of our players 1 looked serious but no word yet from the club as to how bad it is, as if we didn't have a small enough squad as it is, we are down to the bare bones as we started the season with the smallest squad in League 2 but at least the remaining players are showing heart and never know when to give up.

Do you think you will get 9/9 points in the last 3?

you didn't ask me, but no, I doubt we'll get 9/9.

I think the biggest risk is crocked players, of which we are piling up whilst having a small squad.

That said we have a reasonably gentle run-in (AFCW A, Morecambe H, Cobblers A), especially if NTFC have nothing to play for on the final day.

I suspect we'll take it down to the wire and it'll be squeaky bum time on final day, although I would love to have nothing to play for (in a good way) in the last game.

Fair enough. I think I am resigned to the play-offs if I'm being realistic we are away at Exeter Sat followed by Bury away, if we were to pick up 6 points and not go up auto that would be beyond frustrating.

Fuck taking it to the last game. I'd rather know we're in the P/O. Don't think I'll have the nerve to last all game.

You know that's a lie. It was the time wasting deployed by Wycombe from the 7th minute onwards.

It's the same every time we play you. Not quite as bad as last year but still pretty shocking.

I have looked at the league table and remaining fixtures more times than is healthy over the last few weeks. Even though we should be pretty comfortable on 83 points at this stage, I just have this niggling doubt that we'll somehow make a complete hash of things and end up in the play-offs (particularly with the current form of Bury and Southend!)

However, both Bury and Southend have tricky fixtures and we have on paper a slightly easier one but I'm getting pretty nervous :conf::err:

And Exeter play football like Barcelona do they? Sore loser deal with it.

Think we'll win at Wimbledon draw at Northampton and our last game at home between the two is Morecambe. Our home form is not too good but they have nothing to play for but pride so i'd like to think we'll win that. If you and Bury draw then a draw v Morecambe wouldn't be too bad a result rearly. Our better goal difference is shrinking all the time but it's still 5 goals.

To be fair Exeter are probably the best footballing team I've seen this season. Between them and Bury from what I have seen, both teams (from limited evidence admittedly) seem to play far, far more attractive football than anyone else in the division.
