I hope you stay up, Have lived up Hanley, Silverdale and Audley in my time so know all about the area but have been Albion for nearly 50 years now. Can't see us blowing it now and if you are still there will be the 1st fixture I look for. We aren't as big a club yet but we are growing steadily and I think our attendances will pick up even more in league one. Good luck in those last 5 games !

Hate Shrewsbury but it's always a feisty affair when we play them so would love to see them come back up.

The feeling is mutual but as you say in recent years it's always been a decent atmosphere when we play. I'm torn whether I way you to stay up or go down :pond:

Think it would be best for both of us if Vale stay up with regards to attendances and atmosphere, we can hate each other for 2 games a season each but its good to have the rivalry.
Barring any disasters I would think we should both guarantee promotion in the next couple of weeks but as far as the title goes its 50/50 I reckon with your game at Bury on the 14th April being a crunch game.

I want Bury to come up so we can outnumber them at their own ground...again.
Pretty sure we've never been outnumbered by Port Vale.. We average 3,500 home fans so you'd be doing well to outnumber that.

Still remember the final day of the 98/99 season like it was yesterday. What a horrible way to get relegated.

Next two games are must wins if we want to have a chance of top three. Got to hope Wycombe slip up too.

I agree, you will have to beat Shrewsbury and Southend and win most of your remaining games, its doable but extremely difficult in this league.

I doubt Cheltenham will be an easy game for us as it's at Adams Park had it been away i'd be much happier, i think we'll win in a dire game 1-0 which i'd take obviously. After that on tuesday we're at home to Exeter who top the current form league and we havn't won a home game on a tuesday for 2 bloody years! :ffs: Still the poor run must end one day.

It doesn't matter how you win, its results at this stage, play like you did at Burton in the remaining 5 games and you should get the necessary points needed.

I'm sureAinsworth will be telling the players that before the game tomorrow mate, dig out an ugly win meaning the teams behind us will have to match our result to keep in contention for 3rd, all we can do is win and see what happens. Gareth Ainsworth got manager of the month for march i just hope that hasn't jinxed us. :eyes:

One step closer! Massive game at Bury on Tuesday now. Will be a tough test as I can't imagine they'll play the same way as the reverse fixture in October.

Great win for us today and keeping the pressure on Burton who I thought would win today so still there title to lose!
looking forward to Tuesday nights game, a must win for Bury if they want to keep alive their dreams of automatic promotion and a must win for us if we want to keep alive our chances of winning the Title so probably will be a draw!!

Big win for us today, knocks Northampton out of the running for the play-off places and for once we take full advantage when most of the others around us (Luton, Newport and Exeter) slip up.

As for the game itself, thought it was deserved, we were comfortably the better side in the first half but somehow found ourselves one down at the break. We wasted a hatful of presentable openings only to concede a very sloppy goal from a free kick, credit to Zander Diamond though, took the goal very well but we had about three or four opportunities to clear but no one made contact.

Second half was more end to end, we did well to come back and win, not often we do that, great little ball by Parrett for Whelpdale's equaliser and credit to Walton (and Westley for bringing him on) for the winner, I was sat in the stand criticising the decision to take Lee off for Walton and up he stepped to win us the game so fair play.

On to Tuesday now, if results go our way we could really cement our place in the top seven, won't be easy against Portsmouth though.

Oh it well be easy against us Brox, we're fucking dreadful away from home. We concede early goals and have only won twice on the road all season, the first being a jammy 1-0 at Oxford back in August and then a freak 6-2 win at Cambridge.

Our season has been over for ages and you should not be worrying about us.

You have to take your hat off to bury and Southend. In any other season shrews and ourselves would already be up with 83 and 84 points. Fair play to both

If Shrewsbury can win at Bury on Tuesday and Southend fail to beat Newport we will be promoted so everything to play for!
It will be a difficult task but I do believe all the pressure is on Bury and we will be grateful of any good karma from Wycombe fans. COYB,s

Just seen that Southend have not conceded for 10 home games, fair play a good record that!

If Bury and Shrewsbury draw on Tuesday and Southend fail to win Burton will be up automatically if we can defeat Carlisle on Wednesday.
With Bury and Southend still having to play each other I would think a win for us on Wednesday will be enough anyway.
Although not mathematically certain I would say both ourselves and Shrewsbury are up and its between us for the title.

Did you hear that on the FLS? Don't know where they plucked those stats from, Wycombe and Accrington both scored two goals at Roots Hall in the last month or so!

They've got a very good defensive record at home, 14 clean sheets in 21 games and only 9 conceded - equal best with yourselves.

It's Dan Bentley who hasn't conceded a home goal for 10 games. Ted Smith was in for Accrington and Wycombe

HUGE game on Tuesday at gigg lane. We go there in fantastic form and with arguably the best squad/first 11 in the division, despite long term injuries to 3 key players. Obviously Bury are also in good form and will go into it with confidence, plus wanting revenge for the 5-0 hammering we gave them earlier on in the season (here's hoping for another Akpa-Akpro hat trick :)). As mentioned above the pressure is on Bury as the home team and the fact that they need to win to keep hopes of automatic promotion alive. We're almost there I think but I'd take a point now tbf!

I tend to look at our rivals forums in our league and others when we play them. Interestingly Shrewsbury fans on the Blue and Amber despite being passionate for the Salop are the only ones who give Burton Albion much credit on being where they are, even to the extent of recently running a thread "Are Burton a model club" Understanding where we have come from and how the club has been run. Also commenting that if we pip them to the title we will have deserved it. We may or may not win the title but over the course of the season we have been the most consistent sides in the division with Wycombe not far behind. Bury have come into the picture late with an incredible run but anything but a win for them on Tuesday will mean the playoffs along with Southend and probably Stevenage and Plymouth.
If Shrewsbury manage to pip us to the title they will have deserved it. 4 games to go and all to play for !

I think our lot are generally pretty sensible - they know what great form we have been in and how well we have been playing so for Burton to still be out there in front deserves massive respect. You are consistently getting good results and each time you come up against an opponent I think(hope!) you may drop points against, you are time and time again getting a result. So, if you can stay there it will be very well deserved indeed.

I don't buy this 'if our manager hadn't done X, Y we'd be top' from several Bury fans on here - it simply isn't the case and the league table doesn't lie after 40ish games. All fans can use 'if's' and 'but's' but its really just excuses - we could point to long term injuries to 3 of our best players (Knight-Percival, Wesoloski and Mangan), Burton have had a managerial change mid-season etc. etc. But both teams have coped with whatever has happened and consistently picked up points.

Finally, I would say that Bury's (and Southend's) recent form has also been incredible - I can't believe the stick that Flitcroft is getting!

I'd echo that Shrew-fan in all aspects. For most Albion fans we will just be happy to get promotion to league 1 for the 1st time in our history, the title would be a bonus. We know Shrewsbury are a good side and in my opinion the best side we have played this season and if we don't win that title we know you will have deserved it.
Bury and Southend must be the favourites for the play offs but I certainly wouldn't write off Plymouth as on their day they are a very good side or Stevenage with Graham Westley's nous. It may not be those sides as I'm sure Luton and Newort and possibly Exeter will fight all the way.
