He's an improvement on that last, whichever way you look at it.

After this wk end I'm fully expecting us to be in a with a good shout for this, it's the following fixtures that are crucial for us.

York vs. Cheltenham will be critical tomorrow, potentially fatal for the latter.

I'm looking forward to it in a perverse way. Still have bitter, unpleasant memories of our 2011 collapse.

I'm really hoping York stuff Cheltenham, they'll be goners if that happens and then hopefully Tranmere and Hartlepool scrap for that last relegation spot.

If Cheltenham lose that I think they will really be up against it

I'd like to see Cheltenham and York go, they seem the most non league looking teams still with a chance of going. Would be a shame to lose Tranmere or Carlisle to the abyss that is Non league football.

Just seen Cheltenham's run-in. Wow.

I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say it's already last-chance saloon for them tomorrow. They have a chance, York are terrified to play in front of their own fans from what I've seen already. Different matter on the road.

Just the thought of the conference makes me shudder.

We are on 45, and I most of our fans are not exactly optimistic of our chances, even though statistically we should be pretty alright.

Wouldn't mind York and cheltenham drawing

45/46 for safety?

Can't see it being 50. That'd mean Tranmere winning 4 of their last 7 or something daft.

It could well end up being 47 for safety. I think everyone still says 50 because they expect teams like us and Tranmere to pick up a few wins, Cheltenham with a new manager are also expected to, but when you look at Tranmere and Cheltenham's run in it seems impossible that either of them could get to 50. 3 wins for Cheltenham would be very good going and even that is only 47 points, so i'd say that could be the relegation score. That means that if we win 2 of our coming 3 winnable games we'd be in a very nice position, needing only a couple of draws or a win in the last 4.

Looking at your next 3 games i'd say you could be right back in it come next weekend if two of Tranmere, Cheltenham and Hartlepool pull off some shocks.

Exactly, we've a chance of nicking something against Shrewsbury if we actually turn up at home, but away games at Southend and Plymouth seem lost causes.

If we don't win any of those games and are still 5/6 clear of 2 or 3 sides it'll be a big bonus

How non league were we when we beat you at Wembley in 93?

We've served our 8 years in the conference, hopefully never to return!

We're both 3 points clear and you've got an even nicer run than us, you'd have to properly bottle it to go down now.

If the '87 refers to his year of birth he wouldn't have remembered that. Mind you York were in the third division for 6 years after that.

I'd like to think so! 1/25 to stay up with Skybet, which is frankly ridiculous. Tomorrow is huge, looking forward to it, could be a big day for us.

What odds can you get on us to stay up? I'm rooting for you to put the final nail in the annoyingly upbeat Cheltenham coffin tomorrow.

York 1/25
Carlisle 1/8
Hartlepool 8/11
Tranmere 5/6
Cheltenham 9/4

Praying we do it tomorrow, fancy us to get a point Monday at Oxford too.

Looks like it's down to the bottom three then in the bookies' eyes. You've got plenty of winnable games left, we've got 4 more as well so hopefully we'll pull away soon enough and finally get to watch the dogfight from afar. I wouldn't put it us to end up going down still though such has been our luck as supporters in the past couple of years.

Quite a strange statement given our history, hey each to their own I guess.

Especially considering you can't put a lot between York & Crewe in terms of size. You can see daylight in the gap between all those mentioned and Cheltenham.

However, as much as Carlisle or Tranmere in the Conference would be a sad sight, it would be heartbreaking to see York go back after serving two consecutive sentences down there.

At least we're all agreed on Cheltenham then. There's plenty of non-league clubs batting above their average in League 2, just depends how well run you are. Us, York, Tranmere and Hartlepool are all league clubs based on attendances but all that really means is that our owners aren't doing a good job. Thankfully that's all about to change for us.

Our new owners are doing a good job. Just that they were left with too much to do from the shambles before them.

Things will be a lot clearer by teatime tomorrow; more so come Monday teatime , it's a cliché saying Easter is massive , BT there will be 5 games left after it, not the time to be dealing with a points gap

I can see Cheltenham getting a win at York. Hope they don't mind.

Think that York will beat Cheltenham today. Tranmere have a difficult game away to Stevenage, I'll be surprised if they got 3pts today. Hartlepool also have a hard game away to Newport, can't see them getting anything more than a point.

We absolutely must beat Pompey though.

The thing is shoddy, neither are we!

Our season is over, our last two performances have been pathetic and we barely create anything. You'll win.

Difficult to call then... two poor teams, but also two poor defences. Will it be a high-scoring game that someone just edges, or will it be a dire 0-0?
