FC United of Manchester promoted to the Conference North. Could quite easily see them in the FL. Moving into a new ground, making money all week off of it, with the biggest crowds in the division I assume (3,588 there last night) they should have a decent budget for that level.

Could see both them and Salford going up again next season, you would assume both have decent sized pockets.

Hopefully this can be one of the first 'archived' threads on 1FF :)

Nothing says you've hit non league like losing to fgr except maybe getting thrashed by altrincham or drawing away at something called alfreton :ffs:

Or losing to Droylsden at home. Or suffering the same fate at the hands of Canvey Island. :emb:

This thread could be dead on Saturday, hopefully! Hellogregory has extended this by his unnecessary outbursts

It took them something like six seasons to get out of that league. The problem FC United have got is they'll probably never go above those type of crowds. As for making money allowing people to pay whatever they feel like for their season tickets won't help bring in cash. Nice idea when playing dog and duck fc but now they are starting to move into a different level of football they'll probably knock that on the head soon.

They almost made a dog's dinner of getting out of that league, Workington were gaining ground on them very quickly and I had a feeling they were going to bottle it. I can't see them getting out of the Conference North at the first time of asking, and then they'll struggle massively to get out of the Conference when they do get there, as does everybody. Don't think we'll be seeing them any time soon to be honest.

I think and hope that you'll stay up. Tranmere and Cheltenham are almost guaranteed to lose on Saturday so it's over to you to do the business against Exeter, you're best doing it there because if we play like we did against Plymouth on the last day we'll probably win/draw unfortunately for you. It'd be very weird and nice if we both went into the last game safe with both sides having thought for a while that it'd be a win and stay up match.

Back in September it looked as though both we're going to go do down with record low points totals, so dire it looked.

And at least half of this thread is taken up by a discussion of who'll go down with Hartlepool (the other half is HG wondering who'll go down with Carlisle).

No one thinks we are safe, in fact most are resigned to it going to the last minute of the last game. it being in our own hands with the chance of putting it to bed a game early is something we could only have dreamt of a few weeks back, even so hardly anyone is talking about being safe this weekend, still in our own hands next week will be acceptable, hopefully just needing a draw would be nice also

Imagine if Charlie Wyke sent you down... or Anthony Sweeney if he's back by then.

If we stay up , next season I hope we finish second, with Carlisle being top winning all 46 games 3-0 , why? ..... because I can't wait to see Hellogregorys take on that, I can just see his Christmas message now " yea sure we've won 23 on the bounce, but we could just as easy lost those, and now King Curle has got the England job we are defiantly DOOMED! "

Sweeney is no threat anymore, young Wyke however will have to be nobbled , Wyke can't do it every game so let's hope he gets a hatrick on Saturday.....Jimmy Glass has retired hasn't he? Funny to watch him score , but not against us please

We only needed a draw, Mansfield had one shot on target and scored, with the team we had we could still be playing now and it would still be one nil grrrrrr.

Haha you'd rather see how HG reacts to Carlisle being top of the league than be top yourself? My guess is that if we are doing very well next season he will be unbelievably smug, in fact we'll all probably be pretty unbearable. You won't like that.

I think anyone who's suffered through the season that us bottom 6 or so have, and who then goes on to get promoted the following season, deserves to be smug as hell. I'll still be occupying next year's relegation thread regardless of where we are, it's good here.

I'm 90% sure that Sweeney will be injured. Wyke has had a rest for a couple of games with a little niggle and should be back this weekend, he'll be playing alongside Paynter this weekend I would think and possibly the same against you, either that or him and Rigg. Both of those pairings have him as the main goalscorer and the other guy as more of a provider so there's every chance he'll grab one against you if he does play. Still shocks me that you didn't sign him but if you stay up I guess it's all irrelevant.

I wouldn't wish that on anybody, it was bad enough drawing with them in the FA Cup. At least Concord (Canvey's 2nd team) can't get promoted anymore. If they had I would have suggest liquidating any club relegated just to avoid the embarrassment of appearing at the same level as them.

Well if I do that I'll be banned for most of the time.

Holy Fuck - our budget this season was £700k! (Admittedly, it has been significantly increased in January and Palios has already said we will have a top 5 budget next season). I don't know if we could compete with that! :bang:
I think that will put you around the same mark as Wrexham who are currently 11th but have under achieved.
