Well the site is back, hallelujah.
Good win for Cobblers against a sinking Tranmere and Cheltenham beat 10 man Yeovil.

Ideally wanted a draw there.

Our next 4 are teams around us
Cambridge A
Morecambe H
Cheltenham A
Notts A

Given our horrific home form 3 aways maybe isn't as bad as it looks, huge month coming up

If we win two of those I fancy our chances

Yeah I would say we need 2 wins from that. As close to 40 points as possibly and would then back us to get the couple of wins needed after that to be safe.

If you look further we actually play 5 of the teams below or 1 above us now in Cheltenham's case in the next 6 games.

Im thinking 4 wins and 3 draws out of 16 games is very do-able and should be enough. Just need the wins to start sooner than later.

Assuming Askey isn't as uber negative as Aspin and plays the right players in the right positions it should be easily achievable.

We’ve had a great January window, the Michael Doyle signing in particular, and virtually all our decent attacking players are now fit. The worry is that it has all come a little too late - if we had 4 or 5 more points I’d really fancy us.

Even with some surprise excellent signings. I have next to no faith in Notts as we are average at home at best and weak as water away from Meadow Lane.

Can we go on a run? Of course we can with our very new look team. Until we win an away game, a single away game we’re dead in the water. Too many mistakes, too many dropped points to make up.

Didnt think the attack was your problem but a dire defensive record?

Hoping SJA goes in and hits the ground running at Vale, especially with those 4 games coming up - he could do us a huge favour every week for the rest of the month!!

Good point but this season it’s been everything. Goalkeeper ! Almost the whole (established) back 4 , soft as shit midfield and injuries to key attacking players

Hence rock bottom. Until we win a midfield battle we are going nowhere, OBrien and Doyle should allow that

It is, but the defence had been performing so badly it needed the attack to try to outscore however many we were conceding! If we fell behind we had no options off the bench to try to change things, but we do now.

Yet another 1-0 loss from a late-ish goal. We've got to stop this or we're doomed.

5 disallowed goals (3 for us, 2 undeserved), a red card for Tom James (we'll appeal as it was very harsh) and a red card for Darren Way (we'll appeal to have the ban extended).

According to Way we dominated from start to finish, but even if that was true we lost so it's meaningless. We've still got one of the best defensive records in the League despite being 4th from bottom (conceded less than Bury in 3rd) so it's obvious scoring is our problem. Way signs two strikers in the transfer window then continues to play 451. Fantastic.

You seem to have improved your disciplinary record from last season. Not as many reds!

All the disallowed goals can be found on here, including the red -

All look like the ref and linesmen called it right. Stats also heavily favour Cheltenham in shots and possession.... So you definitely didn't "dominate the game from start to finish"

What happened to just being gracious in defeat?

I was following the game on BBC Sport and they did dominate early, but the red had an obvious impact.

I agree - it seemed one way traffic until the red, and even for a bit after.

The red is nailed on though, I've seen it a few times now. James leaves the ground, both feet in the air and he gets nowhere near the ball (it actually goes under him). I first thought it was harsh, but looking at it a few times the ref has got it spot on.

As for the goals, I think they were all tight decisions.

Either way - a win is a win.

Well you’ve FGR Away mansfield home Newport home and tranmere away, if you can get more than a point a game from that you’ve certainly a chance.

Just if you can match what macc etc do

No games against anyone even close to the promotion/play-off places for us until the middle of March. If we can't put more points between ourselves and the bottom 4 in the next 6 or 7 matches, we'll deserve to have a nervy end to the season. The next 7 are:

Port Vale (H)
Cheltenham (A)
Tranmere (H)
Yeovil (A)
Grimsby (A)
Oldham (H)
Crewe (H)

For now I'm optimistic but struggling to see where sufficient goals will be coming from.

I thought it was going to be the same story when we had two sent off on the first day, but then last night was the first one since then. Unfortunately Tom James was also sent off in the first game so he will get a four match ban now. We'll definitely appeal though.

Darren Way is never gracious in defeat. Despite what he says in every post-match interview we're usually the masters of our own downfall, however I feel that last night we were hard done by. I can't see any foul for Tom James' 'goal' and he had studs down and feet on the floor when he entered the tackle for the red card. I know a lot of fans on both sides have said it was harsh.

There's a clear foul on 'Tom James', and I'm sure if it was the other way around, on your player in that situation you'd be arguing for it as well.

That's not how red cards work and it's a waste of money appealing it. I doubt you even will appeal it because that's 100% a red card challenge. He has both feet off the floor going into the challenge. Simple. As. That.

Not just me then - the guy literally leaps, with both feet off the ground, into the challenge. The fact he doesn't really catch Addai is irrelevant. It's reckless. The ball actually passes under him whilst he's landing.

On first look, I agree it looked harsh, but that's as clear a red as any I've seen at Whaddon Road all season.

Our manager has already said he's going to appeal. This is the moment of impact, both feet on the floor and studs down.

The moment of impact is irrelevant mate. But cheers for a photo that doesn't show him going into the challenge. Maybe use the video I sent.

Nice one for Way wasting more of your cash on an appeal though.

You cannot go 2 footed into challenge, flying off the floor like this. It's against the rules and there is only one correct decision and it's a red. Even worse that he makes no contact with the ball either.

I've seen several Cheltenham fans who were at that end say they think it was a harsh decision.

Ricky Miller got sent off for less than that a couple of weeks ago although a similar sort of challenge. If thats a red that James one certainly is. Its the Scissor motion isnt it thats the big problem there?
