Where do we go from here Dave? Focus seems to be shifting we take relegation but Norman has to go at whatever cost? Pitch sit in against Mansfield popping up as a suggestion.

A defeat next week and think things will go very sour to be honest.

Relegation and then Gorman selling up would piss me off more than anything. That would be his final finger up to the fans and you know full well sex man would be so pleased with himself for it.

That said, he’s apparently claimed that he likes the “prestige of being only one of 72 Football League club owners” so if we were relegated that “prestige” would be gone.

If we go down then it will take years to repair the damage and I’m not sure we would see us back in the Football League for a very long time.

We wouldn’t come back under Norman certainly so imperative he is gone ASAP to allow someone with the right intentions and mind to get us back. It’s just hard to see at the moment how he will go... he doesn’t seem to have any intention of going.

Good chance I would say that both Port Vale and Notts County will go down. Absolutely criminal from both clubs to have got into this position.

I'm beginning to concede that Macclesfield are going to be the first ever promoted team to go back down after one season. They are drawing matches that they need to win. Ray of hope was that Durrell was on bench today. Doubt Notts county will go down after their recent good results.

It's good that he's back but fuck me does he look unfit. Gonna take some time before he properly regains his match fitness.

And I too agree that it's looking a tough ask for us to stay up now. We look good value for a draw in most games but never do enough to win. It's not all over by a long shot but it feels like we're drawing our way to relegation as it stands.

We hold the key to the entire relegation scenario. Cambridge today then Morecambe, Vale and Macc in 3 of the next 4 games. All your futures are in our hands.

You make some good points but, in practice, it doesn't work like that. Instead, the higher league organisation bullies the lower one and wins. Chester and Hereford have gone to the wall in recent years. In Chester's case, then in L2, the Football League knew what was going on with the odious Vaughan, the Conference made their protestations but were told in no uncertain terms they had to accept them. What the Conference chose to do with them after that was their problem, the FL didn't care. If the Conference refused, the promotion place/s into L2 would be withdrawn. QED.

IF (and it's a big IF given the obnoxious SISU's latest act of brinkmanship) Coventry are expelled from the FL, it means there's effectively one less relegation place from L1 downwards.

What did Vaughan actually do at Chester?
I get he was a head case and a scumbag, but was it that he had no money or did he take all the income for himself?

I used to find it mildly amusing how he used to demand promotion every season then sack the manager half way through before bringing back Mark Wright.

Ideally get the man himself. You sound quite fond of him so maybe you could have a word?

Quite fond ? I just stated that he’s a wealthy man , is he not? Unsurprisingly I’ve never met him sounds a nasty unsympathetic ruthless wealthy man . Plenty of those in football

You’ve not really thought this detailed football fantasy through have you RAC man ?

Steven Vaughan provided money to build our Conference promotion-winning squad of 2004 after mad Terry Smith had us on the "brink" 2 years earlier. The money allegedly came from the underworld and the guy that provided it was "hit". The money then dried up and we gradually sank to liquidation. At the end crowds had sunk to 400 as people boycotted. The away team coach refused to take the team to Forest Green iirc, unless the money was paid upfront. It wasn't. We've had more than our share of "crooked" owners: Barnes, Gutterman, Smith and Vaughan.

The two proper clubs in the relegation battle scrapping away next week to see who’s less shit. It’ll look bleak for the loser.

How many Vale fans, and will all our seats remain intact?

Probably 800 although being billed as biggest in our history so maybe few more. Why wouldn’t seats be intact? The anger and protests will be against our chairman not you

its the neanderthals on the other side of the city who do the vandalism stuff. Our fans will be angry, and will vent their frustration, but against our owner not you. Feel free to join in.

Nah, your lot smashed some seats up a few years ago. And that was when you weren’t threatened with relegation and mightily pissed off with your owner.

I’m surprised you’re only expecting to bring 800. I’ve known you bring twice that for much less important games.

It’s a really easy journey too, though regrettably sometimes it’s only a 1 carriage train

It isn't this coming weekend due to rail works on the line. We may well take 1500 I don't know, depends, it is usually one of the better attended away trips as a decent away day, I guess it comes down to if the fans have had enough of watching no goals or if they want to rally.

I have been every Vale away trip to Meadow Lane since our first meeting in donkeys in 2001 and I don't ever recall seeing seats ripped out or any particularly bad trouble at all.

I think it may have been the year we went there when they had that whole Munto finance thing going on seem to remember something like that happening. Think that was also the infamous Micky Adams transfer listing the entire team afterwards game.

I expect the seats will be safe this time, wouldn’t expect a particularly big away following. Am toying with going but there is nothing that gives me any confidence we can get anything.

Just got to hope they start realising the situation and finally give a shit and give it a good go!

Your confidence should come from the fact you are playing this season’s worse team , bottom of the league

Huge game for both clubs , feels like must win (again) for us

I’ve now heard Notts County fans call themselves the leagues worst team and a top three side in roughly a week :fl:

One is correct, obviously.

Fairly standard for this forum tbh. The other day a Crewe fan announced they were the best side in the league.

I love it when one fan says something in a post and a fan of another side (not always the obsessed ones) then claims that Notts County FC have said it, like it’s an official statement.

I guess when you are bottom, you are the worst side in the league. It’s an open and shut case.
