Mitch Clark has returned to Leicester hence hasn’t appeared in the squad for a few weeks. Annoying as we could of done with him when Mills was fluffing up all over the place.

Askey has confirmed tonight Theo Robinson and Harry McKirdy were left out as we are offering them to clubs on a free.

Not sure who will take them on. McKirdy has barely featured nor has Theo so guessing something has gone on there.

Bit piss poor from the club the only reason we know Mitch has been back at Leicester since before Christmas is him replying to a tweet from Unofficial Vale. Would it really have hurt the club just to send something out on social media saying he's returned to his parent club and thanks for his service to the club? The club not communicating things is just making the rumours more prevalent.

It is starting to piece together that the “rumours” may be true.

What a waste of talent McKirdy is going to end up.

We have 21 players out of contract come the end of the season, so I’d be shocked if a few weren’t moved on next month.

I wonder if we might come in for Theo Robinson again, he agreed a contract here in pre season but then the COVID clause we put in scuppered that so he went to Vale instead.
Can’t be any worse than the forward options we have at the minute, our current top scorer is our CB Mattie Pollock.

Odds on he then scores against us on his debut!

Seems to be rumours from those in the know that Maynard could be coming (think he’s fell out of favour at Stags) so could end up where we all thought we’d be in August signing wise!

Theo has looked crap at times but hasn’t really had game time for whatever reason (rumours of a few causing issues in the dressing room).

It’s a strange one. Something has clearly gone on.

Dan; no idea what you have been doing to him if he is considered not good enough for Swindon.

An assist machine for Newport this season and from what I saw of him the other day he is easily good enough for league 1.

Casey
He's better than L1 case! much better, the only reason swindon want him back is so they can sell him straight on as both brentford and qpr are very very interested, also we hear brighton are hav'ing a good look as well, unfortunatley for swindon he only has a few months left on his contract so who ever gets him will get him for peanuts.

Has become increasingly apparent Tranmere desperately need a right back. Not had one all season. Other than this I’m pretty happy with the squad of players we have. Always a possibility we could lose one or two of our better players including our excellent centre back George Ray who isn’t getting any game time. £100.000 should secure his services.

What on Earth is going on at Port Vale? This season seems as drastic a turnaround from optimism to pessimism as I've seen.

These are almost all players that were evidence of how strong Vale's squad was, and on paper still a lot of decent players, they can't all just be coincidentally off form at the same time surely?

When Shanahan took over it was supposed to be a new dawn, so what went wrong? Did Smurthwaite leave the club with deeper rooted problems that she can't do much about, is Askey a donkey whose contract she can't pay off, Is Shanahan for all her good intentions not experienced enough at running a football club?

The main issue with Smurf is Shanahan is having to pay over the odds over 2-3 years.

In fairness it’s a mixture of issues, we had the five game losing run, twice losing in injury time with ten men, we battered Orient second half and Scunny scored a worldie with their only foray into our half pretty much but the Bolton game seemed to turn the tide... problem then is most of the key players got injuries, Montano, Oyeleke and Worrall is a huge loss, added in now Conlon with Covid who’s been outstanding in recent weeks. Gibbons is long term but due back shortly.

Rumours of issues behind the scenes seem to have some legs, McKirdy and Robinson pushed out, Clark sent back to Leicester. Some wild suggestions Frank Sinclair is trying to have too much influence but not sure on that one.

Get the injuries back I’m sure we will get back to ourselves. We’d played well up until half time at Walsall! Dire against Barrow but in the performances had been there recently just the odd error costing us.

The big players who are fit haven’t been in form which hasn’t helped, Smith has been below par for a few weeks, considering he was linked with moved to the Championship and is a top defender at this level, Legge appeared burnt out (looked good after a rest last night) and Burgess has been anonymous after a great season last year.

The most stand outs have been Rodney who was signed on a three year deal with a view to developing him and Hurst who’s been excellent since finally getting a chance which says it all. The experienced pros need to step it back up.

I knew Ray would flop elsewhere. I liked him at the Alex but he has a cock up in him every few games and he can only play in a particular type of system. Artell got the best out of him and Ray did more or less almost double his wages when he left for Tranmere, but it just seems like he's wasted his career. He was a very good CB for League Two level 2 seasons ago and now he can't even make the bench in that division.

Nailed on that he'll end up on loan at Stockport or Wrexham within a month imo. If we were in League Two, I could've seen us going for him on loan, but we've seen him be found out so many times in League One that that ship has sailed.

Harry McKirdy is a good player with questionable temperament and a big time attitude. It's the latter two qualities that will see him consigned to a career of non league football if he doesn't shape up. I wouldn't say Popey was big time but when he was younger his questionable temperament almost consigned him to the scrapheap, and if it wasn't for Micky Adams he'd have been fitting in windows for most of the last decade.

There's a player in there, but I just don't think he has the mentality to succeed at this level on a consistent basis.

By the sounds of it along with Kitching we might be struggling to hang on to a few of our better players. Odin Bailey's loan is up, seems Birmingham want him to go out to a league 1 club next. He'll be a big loss if true.

Cooper also mentioned last night that a few others are attracting interest/have had their heads turned and it would be hard to hang on to given they're out of contract at the end of the season. A few fringe players could be going out too. Might be a busy month.

I'd have Mills back here if it weren't for the fact that right back is pretty much the only position we've got two solid options at. How's Cullen done for Vale?

Cullen is injured again. When he is fit he looks decent, scored a few last year and started the season with a brace but he’s made of spaghetti.

Mills has been atrocious lately, so much so he was finally replaced with a centre half who himself had been out of form last night!

The perennial problem of the league 2 club. Find a couple of bright sparks and come January they're off !

I remember the season we got promoted from here. We lost our two top strikers. Got nigh on £2 million for them but we only just scraped up.

The exodus for us starts as right back Myles Judd joins Barnet on a months loan.

But what did they do after leaving us - Tubbs and Barnett didn’t score many goals for their new clubs - then didn’t get into the team eventually either going out on loan or moved on

Theo Robinson impressed me in the game at the abbey so shouldn’t have an issue finding a new club.

Not the point Alain. What did they do for us?

The pair of them were scoring goals for us and got cherry picked by teams higher up with more money. Hence my reply to Chris that it's the perennial problem for lower league reams to keep their best players.

Casey

Ps. Probably best not to remind other clubs about the failures of players leaving us when the club look to be trying to sell Watters for as much as they can to safeguard their future existence.

Its that time of year anyone decent will be offski
Newport have had to send players back from loan agreements as have Port Vale.
FGR are losing players as are Crawley.
Orient may lose the most as many are out of contract.
Who will be stronger when the transfer window shuts........Bolton, Salford and Exeter would be my guess

Apparently Posh are touting Ryan Broom out as he's failed massively there.

Would absolutely love to see him come back to Cheltenham as he really hasn't been replaced, but I can't see it. Someone else in League 2 could be getting a fantastic player in January.
