Shola Ameobi's Notts County
If I were a Notts County fan I would be worried about this influx of foreign players. Do they all have the same agent by any chance? You will either finish 3rd or 3rd from bottom i think.

Nah, they don't. A couple have links to Moniz that's all and Amevor/Snijders were both recommended. It's not really a massive issue at the moment - If we played tomorrow then only 3 or 4 of our starting XI wouldn't be British. It's a bit overblown tbh - half the championship nowadays have squads made up of foreign players, as long as they aren't headcases and integrate well it'll be fine. It's more a question of if they're good enough than their nationality...and I'd certainly be signing players like these than the usual free transfers you get, the lower league journeyman carousel.

I think the difference is we've targeted these players (Swerts was actually at the Gillingham game last season) rather than them being the funny foreign trialists you sometimes sign at the end of pre-season, they hardly play and then you have a good laugh about them.

Put it this way if you appoint a foreign coach, who has operated predominantly overseas, I would be very worried if we didn't sign a few foreign players. It maybe our only advantage over other L2 clubs, that and the infamous Meadow Lane atmosphere if we get on a run.

Luke Howell seemingly off from us. Sort of player who'd sign for Oxford.

Next player linked with an Exit with us is Jay Simpson, who is rumoured to be a target of Millwall - However he will 100% command a fee - Minimumn £200k

Southampton's current Head of Recruitment admitted he used to use the Football Manager database as a scouting tool while he was at Huddersfield recently. Didn't Everton have some kind of partnership with the game makers a little while ago too?

They've been our main sponsors since 2002 but if there are any insider tip-offs about promising young players we've never had any!

Obviously I have no idea if they're any good or not, but clearly it's a bit different to clubs at this level usually signing foreign players because we've got a manager with an in-depth knowledge of the leagues they're coming from. They aren't just punts on the basis of an agent's recommendation or a trial.

If we're going to get ripped off for Dempsey, I hope to god they have the sense to put a sell on clause in.

Doesn't really work when they're all Dutch tbh, Emmen is fucking freezing.

Not convinced Spencer is going anywhere. If Trew is splashing cash, I'd expect Jimmy to be part of the plans...

We're going to use the Dempsey money to meet Jimmy Spencer's buyout clause.

We're taking Lateef Elford-Alliyu on trial after he scored loads in Malta and signing our number ten tomorrow, who I think is Gillingham's own Stanley Aborah.

CMS played for us in a friendly in Portugal tonight and was named on the team sheet, unlike two other trialists who were simply "Trialist" (one is Mark O'Brien)

May mean nothing of course as I think everyone knew he was travelling with us, but could also mean good news.

Trew is 90% sure we've got the forward we want and I'm 90% sure it's CMS, but then he's in Portugal with you so I dunno. Unless he's done a Lloyd Sam and fancied a free holiday.

You could be right but I would be extremely surprised if CMS dropped to League Two to play for someone other than John Still to be honest. Judging by what he has said and what JS has said in his interviews, he'll hope to stay in the Championship, but if not he'll come here.

He basically gave it away by not commenting when someone mentioned CMS but rebuffing everyone else (and called the guy a 31 year old who has scored loads at this level before). Would fit our system too, but then he's in Portugal with you so who knows!

Personally not really sure we need him now, but seems churlish to complain.

Guess we will find out over the next couple of weeks! Would be disappointed if he went away with us and then signed for a different team in this league.

I'll be pretty amazed if CMS goes to Notts. He's already rejected clubs for being too far north according to an extremely reliable ITK type on our forum. According to Barry Fry, he wants to stay as close to his current home as possible, so we've got a huge geographic advantage in addition to the John Still factor. Notts would have to blow us out of the water financially to tempt him I reckon... maybe they could do that, I have no idea about their budget.

I still doubt that we'll get him either mind you.

Two players have used us for free holidays. I'm not sure if CMSs best days are behind him. Did naff all at posh last year And has had some bad injuries. But Tubbs bags loads down here with no pace so I dunno

I don't think he will drop down to League Two, there are League One clubs interested. The only reason he's with us is the John Still connection (or more accurately, the entire backroom staff connection).

Anyway, he can't be that shit. Despite his form/fitness issues, he played in 30 out of Brighton's 46 Championship games last season. It's not like he was completely frozen out.

In the Championship though. If he was that shit, they'd have stopped playing him.

He's obviously not the force he once was, but I suspect he'll still be far too good for League Two.

I can't see us signing him. Could taking him to Portugal be a simple favour from JS? From what I gather the Portugal trips are far from holidays and are actually quite gruelling. Might be CMS is holding out until closer to the season for the right/best offer from a league 1/championship club and JS is doing him a favour by going him some semblance of pre season training?

Don't know, id just be very surprised if we actually signed him or he dropped to this level unless he has seriously declined.

A guy on our forum last night claiming to be ITK (no idea if he actually is, no track record) said that CMS had asked John Still if he could come and offered to pay his own way, as he wanted to stay fit while deciding his future. He's got a very close relationship with our fitness coach apparently. Sounds plausible enough, I don't think a deal is anywhere near being done.
