He’s still playing mate at Basford United last I heard, so that really does put it to bed
He absolutely banged them in for them, got about 40 and picked up EVO-STICK player of the year so yeah I think that does answer it. Matt Green would probably struggle to pick a tube of EVO-STICK up off a table nowadays.

Cundy recalled 3 days later, now we're in trouble.
Yep, currently got two centre backs on our books and one is a youngster on loan from Spurs. Not great...

Looked good for Salop against us in't cup. In fact, was their only decent player that night.

Yes having a look on twitter and their fans don't seem to happy about it. We have a good relationship with Spurs and they clearly want him playing more football.

Mark Ellis apparently available if anyone after a central defender. Been unlucky with injuries but could still do a job.

Be interesting to see what this Jolley is like. Part of the new philosophy of signing younger players, igniting their career and selling them on for a decent profit me thinks.

As for Payne going to Grimsby... Being honest, he’s not the best. Wish him well but glad he’s gone.

He has to be better than what we've got and it's only until the end of the season so I'm happy we're at least doing something. Hopefully, he won't be the only striker/forward coming in this month.

Yeah, Leeds recalled Robbie Gotts from us and sent him to Salford for that reason - he was only playing about 1 in 2. OTOH, we've kept Brennan Johnson from Forest who plays every game.

Makes you wonder if the lower L2 clubs agree that the loanees will play/start a set number of games? We've loaned Zack Elbouzedi to Bolton and he's started both games since, but doesn't appear to be setting the world alight. What happens in that situation if the player you take on loan turns out to be no good? Can you send them back and get a refund, or do you have to keep lobbing them in anyway?

Loved Mark Ellis with us and anyone in the bottom half of this league should be all over him.

Any news on what's happening with George Ray? Seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth this season even with the change in management...

Mark Ellis is a great bloke. He has never let us down on the pitch but is now about 4th or 5th choice with George Ray. Barrow has been mentioned as a destination for him. Lives close to their training ground in Cheshire.

New keeper close, young promising goalie apparently to cover Visser who looks set for a long lay off after handballrugbygate

Shame Dino had been very good in the EFL Trophy games! Only we could lose a South African to injury playing their national sport!

I've not exactly got a footy boner about Payne signing but he has to be better than Green, Jackson and Gibson. Surely! Only a deal to the end ot the season too so he'll want to prove himself.

Ray got back into the team recently for a couple of games due to injuries and put in near faultless performances. Unlucky to lose his starting place in the team and is now on the bench. Seen it mentioned elsewhere that he is one of our top earners, so maybe that is a stumbling block in moving him on.

I tell you one thing, if Liam Hearn had carried on playing he’d certainly not be as bad as Green right now, which finally puts to beds TFF’s longest ongoing dispute.

Think it was 11-12 I spent a good couple of weeks on TFF arguing that Matt Green was as good as Jamie Vardy.

Crawley sign 21 year old Swiss striker Davide Rodari. Once of Inter Milan's academy.

Sounds good if I leave it there.

Been with Hastings Utd in the Isthmian league for the last four years or so. Yems wanted to bring him in last season but an injury prevented it from happening.

I'd say one for the future but I would have said that about Watters too.

Bristol Rovers fans didn't like him but it was mutual. Do not get on the wrong side of his sister on twitter. She is brutal. If he puts as much effort in on the pitch for you as she does in slagging off his critics you will be happy.

Rumour that Southend are signing one of our "out of favour" midfielders.

I doubt its one of the youngsters we have around so that leaves Nathan Ferguson.

Not a bad player but has a habit of strolling around and not making tackles. Hence out of favour.

Is the review of Payne based on his League 1 performances though? Not doubting he’s not performed that well but he doesn’t seem to have really played much for you in League 2

Thomas Scott ex Man City youngster signed until end of the season. Goalkeeper
I'd much prefer us to sign aload of youngsters like this then you don't have to worry about deselecting and registering over aged players or signing loads of journey men. In the early 2000s under Brian Horton in league one we signed aload of young lads some ended up being good players mark goodlad, Dean delaney, George pilkngton, Mark Bridge wilkinson, Michael Cummins, Ian Armstrong, Neil briscoe, Stephen Brooker and Stephen mcphee.

Mostly yes and he was well out of his depth. Bristol Rovers fans said the exact same.

He has trimmed down hugely and looked a little bit sharper in pre season so he could come good for you and hope he does. But for me he just wasn’t good enough for us

Either Green is better or Basford are bigger than Grimsby. One or the other.

Ray had a couple of games when Clarke was unavailable and did a decent job. Might be ok at this level, less sure about L1, after a few toe curling appearances last year. Ellis the better defender but not so adept at playing out from the back, which Keith Hill seems to want, so apparently told he can go.

I don’t think Payne was terrible in L1, but we never seemed to get the best out of him either. Didn’t fall out with the fans like happened at Brizzle. Looked fitter this season only to pick up an injury he’s only just come back from and was never going to depose Vaughan while we don’t usually operate with a pair of strikers. Will be interested to see how he does at Grimsby but worth a punt.

Must have lost at least a stone in weight when he got a haircut and shave.

Will always remember the 95th minute goal and ensuing bedlam when Payne scored at Rotherham last season when the ball ricocheted off his arse into the back of the net for a 1-1 draw.
Hope he does well at Grimsby.
