I’ve only seen you play twice and judging by those I’d say your a long ball team but I wouldn’t take any offence to that, your clearly very good and being a Cambridge fan who specialised in long ball in the 90’s, it can obviously be very effective.

KTF

I'm far from offended - I don't mind long ball football if it's effective. In fact I'd go so far as to say I prefer it. I just don't think Cheltenham are a long ball team.

It strikes me that fans are seeing what other managers are saying about us being reliant on long throws and going with it.

Cambridge are definitely the most long ball side I've seen this season, but has been mentioned that wasn't how you normally play.

Can Newport stop signing strikers please, I’ll start to think there’s a chance of Amond coming back
Not a chance of that my friend! podge is about to do his badges with the welsh fa and is being groomed to become our next manager when flynny eventually moves on.

I wish I had the chance to be a scab, they mostly retired at 50 well off.

We’ve been linked with Scott Tanser from St Johnstone, Clough nearly took a job in Scotland so I think he’s got a few players he’d like from that way.

Tbf Cooper has said you aren't a side that overly relies on set pieces, and was actually pretty complimentary about your style of play. Says you're tactically flexible, tend to dominate games and have also developed an effective counter attack this year. Had a bit of a dig at Kewell for moaning about the towel etc in midweek. Probably helps that he gets on pretty well with both Duff and Moore by all accounts, but was still good to see him acknowledge that you're also a decent footballing side.

Not a fan of managers having digs at other teams style of play btw, there's no right or wrong way to play imo, as long as it gets results. Play to your squads strengths.

We’d clearly done our home work. You couldn’t handle those balls all day long and scored from one of them.
We don’t usually play like that.

What's Cohen Bramall like, dedwardp? We're being linked with him.

He is absolutely rapid, decent going forward and has a cracking free-kick on him. Not as solid defensively though and hasn't really been up to par this season, but there were quite a few rumours about him in the last window so not sure if his head might be elsewhere (and the rest of the team isn't exactly pulling up any trees around him to be fair).

I think he's out of contract in the summer and we appear to be happy to pretty much let anybody go who was here before this season to cut costs on the pre-covid contracts so I would imagine that any reasonable offer would be accepted. I notice it was Pete O'Rourke mentioning it on Twitter and he's been pretty reliable in the past so it wouldn't surprise me.

Cheers. Our LB for most of this season is a CM who can cover there, albeit one who's improved as the season has gone on, so it's no surprise we're in for another, proper LB.

Our other LB options are a 17-year old who started the season and Melbourne who Appleton doesn't seem to fully trust, who I'm assuming will leave if another one comes in.

Barrow fans, how many players have you got now? Jolley seems to have brought a fair few in and apart from Baker- Richardson I haven't noticed any going out.

We've got around 30 I think. We need to move people on, although I don't think the owners would have allowed incomings if there wasn't room in the budget even without there being outgoings.

Not easy shifting players out, where will they go?

That is the question. I'd like to think the owners would have run the numbers for all scenarios, given the chairman is the head of a decent accountancy firm.

See previous post.

Strangely enough I've seen teams in the National League with upwards of 35.
Yeah but you have to de register to only have 23 over 21s so could be up to 12 your paying but can’t use (assume some are under age so not that many)

We've signed Idris El Mizouni on loan from Ispwich today.

Hereford have also confirmed they will allow Giles Coke to sign for us if we want him, but have turned down our approach for LJL saying he is not for sale.

Just counted them on the Barrow site. You have 33. That must be a worry, costwise?
I thought no way will they have that amount of players.......must be 10 plus under 21.......Just looked and i counted 34 over 21 including goalie/coach.
Looks like you need all of that 250k compensation on de registering players

Incidentally, Bolton have 40 players under their First Team banner on their website, not to mention all their academy players. Basket case club.

For Doyle's £8k a week we can pay our starting XI.

Now you have just plucked that number out of thin air.......but your turnover is about 15% of Bolton

I mentioned on Twitter yesterday how respectful both sides have been to each other. Thought Cooper's comments were bang on in fairness, including his prediction that if one of the teams fails to turn up tomorrow then the other will take advantage.

In transfer news - we have now confirmed the signing of Sam Smith from Reading and Indiana Vassilev from Aston Villa.

Smith I've already mentioned. Vassilev is an American who seems to have struggled in a poor Burton side for the first half of this season. A winger/forward.

Both are loans until the end of the season.

Basket case club that have spent the best part of 50 years in Non-League yet somehow are only two places below the Horwich Galacticos, who incidentally poached said basket case's manager.

Seems like a really good signing on the face of things

Nathan Ferguson transferred to Southend. Gets an 18 month deal plus an option for another year. Our site claims there is a fee involved which I am a little dubious off but, as in all our transfers, it is undisclosed...probably a fiver.

Ferguson definitely has the ability to spray the ball around and always shows for a pass. I was never 100% convinced by him.

Count them - there's 40 (plus Kioso).
Our debt is a tiny fraction of Bolton's. I see they've got the creative accountants in again to try and hide some of that debt before the accounts are filed - it's a shame that they're having a fire sale of the academy players before shutting the operation down completely.

Its great that you are sharing a bill with us.....A bit like Garath Gates being on the same stage as the Foo Fighters !!
