Love this time of year... after being linked with the likes of Balotelli and Fowler in years previous!

First one is we are after Paul Mullin as he wants to move back closer to Liverpool apparently. haha!

Every single club north of Watford Gap will get mentioned by those rumours pages on Twitter. Personally I would be very wary as he has only really been prolific for one season of his career.

If I was him I’d look to stay at Cambridge, he’s on to a good thing there so why alter that for a few extra quid when another season scoring could get some serious money down the line.

i remember the fowler one ha ha, was there seriously a balotelli rumour? surely not

i love a good rumour too, happy to just kid myself that there's something in them for a few weeks to pass the time over summer.

however dreadful it was, the bruno ribeiro summer was one of most exciting for me, googling these random shit munchers and trying to pretend that a portuguese non league highlight on youtube would translate to league 1 football!

watching trialists at newcastle town and wondering how they won't score 40 league goals next season

Still not convinced by the Brentwood Beckenbaur?

We played him as a no 10 and he looked OK but truth be told; no I'm not.

If he were a couple of years older I would say his legs have gone. It doesn't help that he is playing, mainly, with other one paced players so our whole midfield looks slow.

As we have him under contract for another 2 seasons we are stuck with him...unless you want him back?

Yeah think it the Bruno season! Mourinho being mates told him he should go somewhere like Port Vale to grow up basically and the papers got wind of it and he was signing.

Quigley getting L1 offers. I might win the Ballon D'or after all.

15 goals in a very poor side if nothing to be sniffed at IMO. Having someone who scored on a regular basis was the difference between ourselves and the two relegated sides.

Quigley to Wigan for £750,000 - Bolton want him, but the chairman doesn't want to break his own embargo that he placed in Evatt's contract.

I can’t see us paying that sort of money for him (or anyone unless they’ve got a big sell on potential) with players like Mullin potentially on frees. I really liked the look of Quigley against us. Great business for Barrow if true.

Wasn’t the embargo in Evatts contract only for 12 months anyway?

As far as I remember, it was just that Evatt couldn't pinch any of our contracted players - more an agreement, so it can probably be broken if the price is right.

I know we’ve been strongly linked with Joel Dixon on a free for quite a few weeks now. But I don’t know if he’s any good..? I’m sure we will be linked with 100s of players before next season due to lazy journalism.

there is 0 chance of someone paying 750k for scott quigley.

i think i will have to question whether everything i ever thought i knew about football is a lie if anyone pays anything close to that.

i genuinely wouldn't have him back here on a free transfer.

We got 6m for Gary Madine so anything is possible. Wigan have new owners that look like they will throw money at it. I certainly wouldn’t pay that either though especially as he’s 28/29 isn’t he?

Dixon has been one of the better keepers in this league that I've seen this season (bar one or two errors). The main reason he's linked is that he could do what Evatt wanted, which was play out from the back, receive it at his feet and start quick attacks. He'd be good to challenge for number one, but yet to see how he would fare at that level.

Looking forward to see what Clough goes for this summer, for once I actually am confident in the manager to spend the clubs money.

It’s already confirmed we are trying to get Stephen Quinn to stay, which is good, majority of our business will be in defence and upfront with the midfield being close to sorted anyway.

Akins and Brayford are likely to be on the list.

Port Vale Just gotta hope the L1 interest isn’t too serious.

Have we signed Benning from Mansfield yet?

Imagine we are after him, especially with all three left backs gone now including Monty.

Imagine we will offer decent wages but depends on interest from the level above. No smoke without fire as they say.

In addition to the mass cull of out of contract players yesterday we've also now transfer listed Theo Robinson (thought he already was to be fair), Scott Burgess and Danny Whitehead (we'll pay anyone whatever it takes for them to take him). Should be able to field a five-a-side team at least.

Imagine Theo will get picked up, hes just not worked out with us really.

Whitehead has been terrible, had a decent game against Bradford but was dreadful when we needed him most... that corner at home to Barrow summed him up.

Feel for Burgess, was the surprise performer last season under Askey and integral to our success, scored some crackers against Swindon and Macc but never found those levels this season. Hope he does find a club and progresses but think he may end up in the National League.

9 players left now... huge portion of budget to play with lets hope DC and Flickers recruitment is spot on.

Someone on Exeweb has said they’ve heard we’re looking at Kurtis Guthrie. If that’s anywhere near true then I would be very very concerned! Hopefully nonsense.

Ryan East at Reading also mentioned in passing. Would be fine with him.

Brett Pitman is off down the M4 to Bristol Rovers.

Never seen such a slow, lumbering player in my life. He’ll be OK for L2, I suppose, but I’m glad we didn’t try and keep him.

Interesting.

He came from Bradford and just had zero confidence and didn't look overly fit, he was really poor in the early games, but did start to perk up towards the end of the season and his hold up play became crucial as we saw games out and threw him on to protect the leads we had.

Scored a nice goal at Harrogate and seemed to improve his confidence but didn't really get in after that ahead of Theo Robinson (which says a lot).

Apparently Jake Taylor is leaving this summer as he wants to move back nearer to the Reading area where he’s from.

Would imagine someone like Bristol Rovers or Swindon would be a likely destination for him, assuming he leaves. Would be a decent signing for anyone in L2.

I'd have him back at Crawley in a heartbeat.

Surprised you are so calm about losing one of your better players...and club captain(?).

Nick Tsaroulla agrees a new 2 year contract with an option for a further year.

Famous for his goal versus Leeds in the cup. A modern full back (which means his defensive work is suspect) who, I think, could play a little higher.
