We are looking to bring Sam Slocombe back to the club from Notts County.

Typical Scunny, obsessed with former players no matter what stage of their career they're in. Shocked we haven't tried to bring Keegan back yet.

He will at least be better than Rory Watson as every professional GK is.

Rory Watson must be bad if Keegan would make a better keeper at his age.....

Sam’s had two solid years for us, just a decent lower league ‘keeper. We’ve offered him something, but maybe not on the same terms as when we signed him (we’d just been taken over five days before the season started and were desperate for players).

Cant imagine he would come here for any other reason then he's from Scunthorpe and he supports the club.

We won't be offering him more than you and we will more than likely be swapping places at the end of this season.

on paper that's another good signing. a lot of people had him in their National League team of the season
happy with it apparently Barrow where one of the other clubs interested along with Swindon Oldham and Cambridge

Thoughts Tranmere fans? Remember him being a right shithouse in Cooper's Forest Green sides so looks a decent enough signing for me.

Just had an interesting loan spell with us. Went berserk and started scoring every week from set pieces, but can’t say I was particularly impressed with him defensively.

That said, we were/are trying to play a mad, kamikaze style of attacking football with an absurd high line, and he’s very much a big, no nonsense centre back, which might explain it.

We were interested in him until we got promoted. Now rumoured to be signing Odin Bailey.

I did watch the Chesterfield game and he was caught a few times trying to play an offside trap but wasn't sure if that was his fault or Notts' general tactics.

Yeah, a bit of both probably. 99% of our fans were desperate to sign him permanently, but I don’t think our manager will even have been interested. He’ll be fine in a more normal team.

Our Ipswich influx continues with Alan Judge joining Luke Chambers, Cole Skuse and Freddie Sears in making the move down the A12 this summer. Frank Nouble returns on a permanent deal again and, coupled with Luke Hannant, I think we should be set for a much better season again this year - there's a decent core there with some more to come.

Us and Tranmere have made him an offer apparently in recent years I'd say that's us out if other clubs are interested but something seems to have changed at Walsall we are actually signing players other clubs want and not waiting until July as we usually do our new manager seems to be attracting players all the new recruits so far have spoke highly of him.Clarke signed has beens and his mates mostly the decent players he did sign where the work of Dutton and that's been confirmed by the players themselves since in the local press I hope he's got someone with a good head assisting him at Vale is all I can say the bloke was a disaster for us and only seems to be able to work with a top budget pretty sure that's why he left because he didn't want to put the work in here he just wanted money thrown at him.Like I've said before I hope he works out better for Vale than he did for us our fans hate him and think he's a fraud living on borrowed time as a football league manager not my opinion that's just the general one amongst Walsall fans.
Mate, at some point, you’re gonna have to stop sitting on the fence and tell us what you really think of Clarke

Judge will take the mick in League Two if he still has legs. Fantastic footballer.

In reference to your White Review comments what exactly are you expecting in terms of player signings from a club less than 7 miles away from Liverpool and Everton that is going to make the football world sit up and be shocked. We are a League 2 club. We get what we can afford, like every other club.
While it's good that you are publicising White Review, the best of the Rovers forums, imo, why not come and join in the debate on there?

I think the remark that you are taking exception to is my feeling that the signings so far have been humdrum?

Unsure why the reference to the Scouse Prem sides, as Rovers are going into the transfer market equivalent of an Aldi, whereas they can shop at the equivalent of a Waitrose/Harrods, so we're never going to be after the same players. Any players we do recruit will be measured at a L2 level and last season for me, Spearing, Vaughan and (mainly because of his good record against us) Woolery were all inspiring signings at this level. My comment was a snapshot at this time, while accepting there's another 3 weeks before we're into pre-season games and enough of that top third budget still available to bolster the squad.

Think Mark Ellis was unlucky with injuries in his time with Rovers and had just come back into the side and formed a decent partnership with Clarke, when covid struck. He probably works best with a partner who'll take the lead in organising the defence, but a decent defender, who'll chip in with a few goals. Hope it works out well for him.

adding in our new signings our team in theory could look like this;-

Paul Farman
Connor Brown
Mark Ellis
Matty Platt (NEC*)
Patrick Brough
Mike Jones
Tom White
NEC*
Jamie Devitt
Offrande Zanzala
Scott Quigley (NEC*)

NEC* = not ex-Carlisle

Obviously that won't be our first choice starting line up - but can you imagine the anger "up North" if we were to beat Carlisle and/or finish higher than them with 8 ex-Carlisle players.....

Its almost impossible to get on White Review.
The reason i mention them two across the river is because we struggle to get any young players because they are paying 3 or 4 times more to 18 year olds than we pay anybody. Older players or ones not good enough for PL academies are the top end of most clubs targets at this level. Being realistic.

We’ve signed 2 but are way down on numbers. It’s difficult to see who is going to sign them unless Power gets ousted pdq. Could be a very difficult start to the season.
